Are WvW imbalanced the reason for the SWTOR-like fall of GW2 numbers on Xfire?

We all know WvW is one of the most popular “end game” activites in GW2.
Xfire, a tradionally reliable predictor of MMO success and failure, indicates a rapid fall in GW2 popularity similar to that of SWTOR earlier this year.
The SWTOR fall was largely attributed to the lackluster end game.
So what is your opinion, are the failings of the very advertised GW2 core feature WvWvW the cause behind this latest development?

SWTOR was a poorly designed game from the foundations up. It was stable and it was star wars were the two crowning glories.
GW2 in particular WvW are incredibly well made and thought out products. there is always a decline after the first month in the ammount people play but not neccesarily in the ammount of people playing in total.

Many players just “finished” the game – i.e. reached max level – and moved on.
Nothing more fancy there than that.
Also, Pandas.

The Xfire community is an indicator, but more for how mainstreamed a game is rather than for it’s success. In the case of GW2 Xfire stats droped cause people bought it without being properly informed about what kind of game it is. They expected another WoW-like MMO and got something rather new and cause they couldn’t – or didn’t want to – adapt they stoped playing.
Also, World PvP works as expected, it’s only downside are the sometimes rather long queues and the stupid culling mechanic.

Didn’t a lot of people expect a GW1-like MMO? GW1 had like 5 million sales I believe.

All expansions combined, over the period of 7 years, yes.

5 million over 5 years I think it was.

Yeah, it’s pretty kitten good. A lot better then skype or any other IM program, especially for a gamer, when it can record, capture screenshots, do live broadcasts, play music, among other things. They’re also tinkering with a new beta version of XFire, so that’s something to take a peek at.
The loss of players was to be assumed. A lot of people want to play through the game and leave afterwards, looking for a new game. There will always be players who will stick around and those players eventually make up a constant fanbase.
Over time, GW2 may still see an increase in players, as old ones return in hopes of better conditions, expansions, etc. and fresh new players find a liking to GW2.

I do not see it. I SWTOR I saw a drastic drop of players but here I see the same faces all the time. I"m not saying the population is not going down but I still see plenty of people around where in SWTOR places that were full started looking like a ghost town.

If some cod leave SFR i would be happy, then i didnt have to que so much to WvWvW =)
xfire is a program for kids so it shows what kids do… but seriously no GW2 is much much much better worked then SW-TOR, Bioware was finished with Story-line when EA forced them to start the game, nothing was finished at end, here Arena net have the World vs world and so working, ofc the ones that want raid, raid, raid a.k.a WOW they are disappointed, but I don’t want PVE except to lvl and there I prefer solo playing.

Swtor wvw sucked and the game was a single player game, mmo only if you forced yourself to take people along but was completely unnecessary. GW2 is completely 180degree different from swtor, in pve I am constantly fightly alongside others. WvWvW rocks.
The game is social, the way an MMO should be to play to its strength, swtor complete was not social.

What do you expect? At 80 when the week is determined in wvw whether win or lose, there’s really no reason to pvp….

SWTOR’s Ilum was fun, but the game engine couldn’t handle it. The other problem was people would just leave once their daily was finished so it was a constant seesaw. Take the hill, half your group leaves, its taken back, repeat.
SWTOR’s PvP scheme collapsed because they too long to add Ranked Warzones and then after a week it came down to only two groups playing and then you never get queues.

Versus the GW2 spotless PvP experience of invisible zergs and players.
Common exploits and hacking.
Along with matches that for the most part are decided in days but continue on into weeks.
I’m level 80 I never once had to group with anyone to do quests aside from dungeons.
This game feels very much like SWTOR did.
Faction imbalances is what killed SWTOR pvp (along with the horrendous graphics lag for RvR)
The largest thread in this forum is basically about the same issue at the very top.
No endgame really other than a flawed system like this and no real way to better my character other than a legendary.. I think Xfire is telling the truth here.
Also, for those saying it’s better that people leave to free up resources: F2P games make their money through their cash shop. If players aren’t playing, the game company is not making a profit.
They both depend on customers to continue using their product. It’s just a different form of monetary transaction.

It really feels like they put more effort in the PvE leveling content than the actual endgame.
Leveling was more fun.

I exppect populations will rapidly decline due to:
Hacking/Exploiting/Cheating/Bots
WvW Population issues/server swapping
Small WvW zones with lame treb meta game
EDIT: IMO ANets biggest mistake was the server swapping. Missing the “server pride” aspect of WvW was a HUGE mistake. They are going to lose a lot of people who are upset over people jumping ship top the winning side. Biggest ./facepalm move for Open field WvW.
