What is a sacrificer?
A sacrificer is someone who sacrifices.
Are you a sacrficer?
If you sacrifice one or more of the below items, then you are a sacrificer.
Of course, the list is not exhaustive and more suggestions are welcome.

  • Loot.
If you play a utility healer in your zerg group, i greatly admire your willingness to sacrifice your loot gains for the victory of your group.
  • Pugs.
Yes, you actually sacrifice the players around you. If you are a commander and sacrifice certain pugs following your zerg in order to out-maneuver and gain an advantage against the enemy zerg by using them as bait, I admire your ability to make tough decisions for the greater good.
  • Objectives.
If you sacrifice defending your T3 keep to take down the enemy’s T3 keep, I admire your determination to inflict pain on the enemy. Of course, some commanders give up defending their T3 keep because they were more interested in fights happening elsewhere. Your loyalty to the server is well noted.
  • Commander.
This usually happens when there is a mutiny. The commander shouts ‘Charge!’ and leads head first into the enemy zerg, only to realize that he was the only one who charged. I suppose the zerg did a mutiny and left their commander to die.

Commander death in this case is a case of fear and demoralized squad or a commander that can’t stack or inspire. These are weak groups, usually pugmanders that break, back pedal and die.

Your pug tab reminds me of our often push into enemies 3rd on ebg and we will take down an outer tower’s wall and then leave the pugs to cap while we hit an inner tower. Not a sacrifice but works well when you are a tight guild squad with players who aren’t wxp greedy.

Loot most of the time on my end ele only a healing class now in wvw you do not get many tags. You also lose a lot of reward track progression due to having to go out of your way to help ppl stay alive and miss caps and tags on objectives.

Main : Jski Imaginary ELE (Necromancer)
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA

Lol, funny topic. :p

Loot.

Actually not much of a sacrifice but this may be due to selfish tendencies. Fact is, if your group dies, then you will suffer from less loot over time. You may become a bag too, which is negative loot. Therefore, it can be in your best interest to sacrifice a little loot for bigger overall gains.

That being said, this is why I play something like staff ele, which can heal but still tag loot with water 1/water 2. My icicles hurt still….

Pugs.
Yes, you actually sacrifice the players around you. If you are a commander and sacrifice certain pugs following your zerg in order to out-maneuver and gain an advantage against the enemy zerg by using them as bait, I admire your ability to make tough decisions for the greater good.

I generally sacrifice people that I know are going to die anyways. Either they don’t know how to pull out of the circles after getting up,heading to the lord’s room no matter what, or are just plain ineffective. It’s nothing personal. I just think the time spent keeping them alive is less efficient because it’s more risk than it is worth and honestly they’re probaly better off being dead 90% of the fight. You can’t rallybot anyone if you die before anyone else goes down!

Objectives.
If you sacrifice defending your T3 keep to take down the enemy’s T3 keep, I admire your determination to inflict pain on the enemy. Of course, some commanders give up defending their T3 keep because they were more interested in fights happening elsewhere. Your loyalty to the server is well noted.

This decision generally only holds relevance when your own keep is going to fall anyways. But it’s good you mention t3 keeps, as it is quite annoying to have people cry wolf over everything and that leads to the above effects you described. “Omfg they flipped S and SE camp! Bring the zerg (against 3 people) @#$% you Commander!”

Commander.
This usually happens when there is a mutiny. The commander shouts ‘Charge!’ and leads head first into the enemy zerg, only to realize that he was the only one who charged. I suppose the zerg did a mutiny and left their commander to die.

Well depends on the commander. Respect is earned, not given, and commanders that lead suicide charges to chase egos and white whales sometimes also have to be sacrificed for the greater good. We have a few commanders that command better when they’re dead anyways. Of course, I also see this as a last resort since usually 40 people making the wrong decision is still better than 4 groups of 15 disagreeing with each other even if they know what is “right”

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
