Guild Wars 2

After having played this WvWvW a small while now i started to notice that nobody ever decided to attack Ascension Bay from the water.

At first i though it was mainly because “every one” seems to despise water combat, but after getting a bit bored I decided to swim to the 2 walls standing partially in the water. And it was when i attacked them i finally understood why.

Its not that people tries to avoid water combat but apparently it is because the walls cant get attacked from the water.
I tried both my auto attack (which gave me the obnoxious “obstructed” message)
and aoe attack (which didn’t seem to do any harm at all)…
Though i don’t know if a trebuchet or other siege siege equipment is required to attack the walls.

I don’t get it… Here we have a Fortress which is covered in 50% water, and has a entrance/exit in the water, but no way to directly attack the same way? Even though it blatantly got 2 walls with health there as well as guards shooting you down if you take your head out of the water…

So… Is this a bug? Or is it working as intended?

You can hit those walls from the shore nearby with catapults. I have never seen anyone successfully attack this way but I don’t see why it’s not possible.

I think the real problem is just that there are better / more protected ways to attack the fort. The water entrance isn’t really necessary.

People used to put flame rams on the water gates right when I started playing a few months back but then one patch we suddenly couldn’t target those gates normally anymore. A few weeks back I found out that the grates were still targetable in the lowlands keep in eternal, and at first they seemed irreparable but if you stand in just the right spot you can still repair them.

if u could attack them from the water golems would be perfect for it
