How great that would be. Now with the loot update(wich we’r all thankfull for) it’s been a pain looting in wvw, especially large battles.

You shouldn’t have to waste time picking up your reward in such a dynamic gamemode. How many bags have you left behind choosing game objectivity over looting, nobody likes making that choice ignoring possibly loots like precursor, neither spamming F while fighting. Instant loot would eliminate all that giving wvw objetive/fights much more focus and consequently way better pvp.

I would agree, but I’ve dealt with the instant looting in LOTRO pvmp and all I can say is… Be careful what you wish for. If you think lag’s bad now, try having the server bogged down with 30 people looting at once.

It’s too much fun, the way it now is, to grab a bag or a chest in a split second, just as I am in the middle of a crazy fight between two zergs. It’s even more fun, after the battle is over, to trace back my steps marked by a bunch of bags I didn’t notice before!

it spoils the fights. if u run back to pick the bags the enemy has ran away. if u chase and come back after fight, ur bags have despwned.

its a lose/lose situation. just autoloot it into the inventory.

I just have a reflex to press F as soon as a F-command comse up rly .. Only lose my bags when I die. There’s already a reason why the bag drops beneath you instead of at their dead body

I suggested a chest at the spawn where you can pick up your rewards.

But yeah loot bags in WvW are a pain, if you look up youtube videos you see a lot of people fighting and rarely picking up loot as they are still busy with the rest of the enemy zerg. Players lose dozens of loot bags. Other times players pick them up, IF they win, and so waste a minute looking around for their loot.

I’ve had it where we were defending SM outer wall which had fallen, so we were keeping them out. I died with around 5 bag around me, then some pug fixes the wall so I cannot be ressed or get my loot bags. Not that it matter as by the time I ran back the wall was down again but the bags had already despawned!

But yeah either a chest or auto pickups in WvW

Macros, you can use them as long as they arent macros.
Remember to buy the officially endorsed GW2 Steel Series Keyboard, it supports macros!
WvW, we only care if it affects the servers we play on.

Auto loot would really be awsome, the lootbags that I am currently missing out on cause we are continuesly moving is huge. While the money as a wvw is really hard needed. I hope something like this can be implemented or like a setting to choose to autoloot.

Just to think there might have beekittenap in those lootbags/chest that I didnt pick…

This will learn players to not chase, chasing loses you more time than picking up your bags.
If you die, you don’t deserve loot. And you can quickly respawn if you see you are getting wiped so the loot drops around you at spawn. If you don’t get wiped you get rezzed and pick up loot after.
Bags stay for 2 min, most fights are over before that. So take longer, but learn to multi task and pick em up while running and killing more enemies. I play engineer so I got a lot of buttons to press and still manage to do it.

Bags are fine, I love picking them up and they give great screenshots after wiping the enemy.

It says here ‘To the victor the spoils.’ I reckon you’ve not really won until you’ve looted, ripped AND pillaged.
Sometimes the best part is trying to get to a bag I had to step over.

Grabbing those bags from between the legs of the enemy is what it’s all about for me. I’d really miss it.

Yep….I say leave it the way it is. Works perfect….if anything was to change….maybe, and this is a big maybe. Maybe add an extra minute to the loot before it despawns.

Did you consider how much easier and safer it is to pickup your loot on a range character when it spawns at your feet at 900+ range from the enemy than if you had to be in melee range to get your damage in? I don’t imagine you spend nearly as much time in the thick of a fight as a hammer warrior/guardian does for example. Fights on many tiers last for well over two minutes resulting in bags disappearing even for the victors. Melee miss out on many more bags than range characters do in those situations.

That said, if instant looting, a small aoe loot as someone else suggested, or even just adding a longer duration for bags so that larger fights have time to pan out makes looting as easy for a melee as it is for ranged without adding too much stress to the server in a large battle, I’m all for it.

I’m getting a kick out of reading the responses that have to do with not changing the system. Are they legit? Hmm….

From, “I’d miss the screenshots of all these loot bags” to “I like to retrace my footsteps of the battle by going back and looking for the bags.”

The only reason I see that we don’t auto-loot into our inventory now is because it would help out the botters; they wouldn’t have to code in a way to retrieve loot.

But, is that really a problem for serious botters? Or even a casual AFK’er trying to earn some cash? I’d say there are many ways a person could bypass this system of having to press f while standing near a bag (keeping the f key taped down?).

I think the only persons this effects (mostly) are the persons who are in WvW and in major battles or fast moving ones.

In WvW we should have an option to “auto-loot” (that is, pick up a bag) if we so choose. Otherwise, you are stuck with either stopping to pick up the bags (and consequently slowing the action of the game), or losing out on them.

I didn’t say that bags give lag (I suspect the data required to render them is small), but I can’t see how autoloot would require any greater bandwidth. All items have an object code that is trivially small (a few bytes, maybe), and that’s pretty much all that needs to be transmitted to the client. No rendering, no position, no “I picked it up” traffic … nothing.

I definitely support an auto-loot system. It’s gotten to the point where it is actually annoying having loot bags pop up in the middle of a battle. Especially when I have to backtrack because I’m constantly moving. We all appreciate the increase in loot bag drops but give us a better way to get it into our bags. You guys were the ones who made combat immersive and exciting with lots of movement and dodging.

I remember reading that the reason they aren’t a fan of auto-loot is because they want us to have the exciting feeling of opening up our loot…. Or something along those lines. Put the loot(unopened) in our bags and we can open it up when we get a breather from the intense fights.

As good as it might sound, I like the way it is as it’s more ‘authentic’.

One major problem with wars of old was maintaining discipline and trying to stop an army from pillaging and plundering, and therefore becoming less organised.

I also like the idea of booby trapped ‘loot’ (another aspect of warfare). That shiny could take your finger off.

On my guardian necro or ele no problem with bags at all. My thief? I am usually moving from one place to the next so fast the bags dont even spawnunder me, but in a trail behind me.

I understand pressing f aint all that hard, butremind me again why auto attack is around? Oh that is right it is stupid and boring to run around bashing one button over and over

My preference would be autoloot. Not only is it easier, but it really is terrible design when players end up thinking “well, I really should chase them down, but I have a lot of bags to loot, so kitten it” or vice versa.

Tank engineer is low mobility and still has 300-600 range with it’s main skill being 425 range. It’s short ranged, but still ranged and also not nearly as mobile as many melee specs. Apples and oranges when discussing melee.

I’m curious as to your warrior spec and playstyle. Are you the one to initate okittenerg with Earthshaker? Do you fringe fight and wait for opportune times to burst someone players initiate? Do you tank damage with a mace/shield? Do you Whirlwind/Bladetrail through large groups to maximize damage output? Do you leap from target to target with a sword? Some classes/specs are much more mobile than others and thus are more prone to have their loot spawn behind them instead of under their feet during the middle of a fight.

From your previous posts, it seems you have a limited perspective. It’s fine if you don’t agree. Just contribute more to the conversation than “it works fine for my low mobility, short range character so it shouldn’t be an issue for every other combination of class, spec, and playstyle”.

Autoloot may not be the best answer but posting a borderline troll post doesn’t make a very good argument for why it or some other looting improvement should not be added.

Another 1-2 minutes on bag duration or ~300 range pickup to get bags that spawn behind players in longer fights seem like solid options that I’d much prefer over autoloot.

Well GW1 had a window open when you left a mission with all the loot you didnt pick up so why not GW2 when you either use a waypoint of leave WvW?

I’m not sure I support an auto-loot option. I would rather receive a mail with the bag attached saying somethign like “You left this on the battlefield” or something more colorful. It could add a little RP element to loot collecting in WvW.

If your in a guild that runs semi hardcore wvw or hardcore wvw, then you know that you rarely ever get any of your bags on raid night. There just isnt time to run back for bags or even to grab them when using many zerg vs zerg tactics, which require you to move through the enemy force repeatedly. Usually by the time your cleaning up your boots something else has happened on the map and its time to roll out. Bye bye loot bags.

I like this, but I’d say it only lasts until 15 minutes after you log out (taking DCs into account). I also like the larger AOE bag loot option since during a dynamic fight where you are working multiple targets where the bag spawns is one dodge roll away from being looted or not.

I played WvW for the first time yesterday so my experience is very limited but as an example of what has already been said above please allow me to add… I played three different level 80 toons in EB for approximately the same amount of time. At the end of each run this was the breakdown of just Badges of Honor:

  • Mesmer – 15 – Assaulting SM
  • Thief – 5 – Defending SM/Assulting opposing Keep
  • Ranger – 42 – Losing SM/Falling back

Now I realize that this could all come down to how successful my zerg was during those times, learning a new play style versus PVE and what I was doing with each toon, but there is a huge discrepancy between the melee, mid-range/melee and ranged toons there. I have no history to draw from but it seems unlikely this isn’t a trend.

Just email us the loot, please. It can get annoying if you try to “interact” with siege or a downed player to rez/stomp and you get loot bags dropping on you.

“Why the frick isn’t this working, I need to get on the arrow cart NOW, NOW, NOW” Oh, had to pick up those 2 straps of hard leather first…" For realz??

Bonus points if the AC is above garrison watergate, you hit your interact key and immediately hit “2” as a d/d thief. Watch yourself jump off the cliff into the enemy mob…

Be nice to get a set number of badges per day for supporting your side beyond fighting/zerging. Maintaining supply lines, capturing and holding supply camps, setting up siege without depleting supply below a certain level. Each could give up to maybe 5-10 badges daily.

This would encourage folks to learn about building infrastructure to capture and hold territory. Right now the only non-combat way to earn badges is to complete jumping puzzles, which teach players nothing about Wv3 mechanics.

Disagree, if you are in a battle and overrun before you can pick up your loot its only fair that you loose the “right” to claim it. Its up to you to escape the battle with the loot. The way it is now is perfect no need to change.

Which essentially is not autolooting lol, autolooting is killing a mob and enemy and have the contents of the kill drop in your bags without any other interaction.
