If Anet really wanted to achieve population balance they should lock every NA server except the lowest ranked host server, then when it had the same population as the second lowest, open up that server…..and so on, and so on….. until population balance is achieved.

i agree, 50% chance of a precursor at the end of ever skirmish for those who have participation of 90% or higher. sounds like a good start to get ppl in to wvw.

BG is the emptiest server in T1. I’m glad Anet finally saw the light and opened us up. We only have a low KDR this week because we went on hiatus due to the severe population imbalance – Some maps didn’t even have queues for a few seconds!!!
It’s good that Anet is trying to balance the game by allowing people to transfer to empty servers instead of keeping them closed. Now that the weather is a bit fairer, some older players may return to BG. This is the revitalisation that WvW needed!

Thats not what I heard from guildies that transferred to BG…they run about 15 people group and consider leaving BG and coming back because wherever they hit with 15, Mag zerg them down with 3:1 numbers, even at camps

Nothing new here. Started with “roaming skillgroups” of 10 who ganked with 2:1 numbers skyrocketing KDR.
Mag used to have great players but honestly most of T1/T2 fights exactly the same and is pretty much entirely a numbers/outnumbering game. It’s the same reason TC (despite being there) has such a massive KDR in T2; we’re blob-heavy compared to most of the other T2 servers even when not trying super hard for a win.
Kills should be determined by one death = one kill to the player/server with the most damage against the target. A 5v1 provides one kill allotted to the player who dealt the most damage (and loot is dropped for all who contributed as normal), just as a 1v1.
Compare the number of deaths in Tier 1 to each other and it’s less of a blowout than almost every other matchup across the other tiers. The rate of deaths is roughly the same.

Despite being an advocate for small-scale and seeing more damage-oriented builds, I don’t think this would really work given the cost of playing the mode and how ktrainy the game mode is now; it’s also not really something in the spirit of GW2. Players interested in good fights pretty much all left, so this’d probably just make things worse for the WvW community in general.

From a day 1 Mag player….. Mag has been forced into this style of gameplay from fighting other T1 servers (especially BG/TC) that ran heavy map blobs and were less focused on gvgs then Maguuma, I think adapting to their style of gameplay is what killed Mags culture of running single guilds into simply tagging up and gathering a strong core + well trained militia in order to run over the majority of forces.

anyway since im amused the rewards have been buff a lot other than lack of access to ascended armors in WvW short of the insane amount of crafting materials you get from WvW (lol like i want to craft that kitten if i can avoid it) other than dungeon spamming WvW is easily the most profitable in terms of gold and resource pick ups. but your right lack of access to ascended armor is what drags its population down. as far as boring honestly its the most interesting part of the game save people who enjoy 5v5 pvp. seriously what is more entertaining 30v30 team fights or might stacking in a corner then nuking a boss while you hide in that corner so he cant hit you?

Best thing Anet could do is announcing a wvw season for march. And without further announcement lower the map cap on every server to 30 people. And open all them at the same time.

One of these years, anet will stop falling for BG’s hibergating in eotm. I mean, we’d tell them that this is what BG is doing, but it’s a broken record at this point. This tier is the most boring thing in the game right now. I’d rather do map completion than spend NA trying to find a fight, only to need to get them in combat once you do because they’re already running away unless they’ve got a full map queue.
