Noticed a lot of 80s, mostly in guild groups babysitting the karma farmers in Edge of the Mists. Typically they’ll run with the karma train, scouring ahead (often using spies) for defenders or camping doors with full zergs. What’s the community’s thoughts on this?
My favorite part is that some of these babysitter guilds call themselves “bag hunters” and boast about “bag hunting in EOTM”. You’ll never see them running without the karma train, and if you wipe them (and their ktrain) they’ll ragequit. If you find them running solo it’s usually a free bag in a 1v1 situation.
My question to the babysitter guilds is – what do you get out of it? Are you afraid of a challenge? Why do you hide behind karma trains?
So you’re saying there should be no level 80s in eotm? Only uplevels allowed? Probably you mostly see them running with the k train because that is just the time/s most people are there..
EoTM is like a break from WvW at times because it’s easier to get an abundance of kills there. Even myself who runs around as a full zerker staff ele can usually survive a 7 or 8vs1 and kill them all off easily, which of course should not happen. That’s all because players don’t use the skills given to them, especially stability, and healing for that matter.
I tend to think these “bag hunters” are more there looking for an easier route to the Ultimate Dominator title as Nate put it. There is no real challenge there which is why you don’t find these guilds hanging out there for any length of time.
I hadn’t used my ranger in a long time so I though I’d do some roaming in EOTM. Holy cow, taking down 3-5 uplevels at the same time is a nice little diversion. I didn’t realize how totally infested the place is with them.
Almost want to take a few guildies in there and do a little hunting.

Nope, I’m saying 80s shouldn’t babysit the ktrain, they should roam around killing ktrains. You know… doing something a bit more challenging.
What I like is when we form a party of lvl 80 heavies and act as the spearhead that blasts into the enemy zerg allowing the weaker players/uplevels to play clean up. It isn’t babysitting, it is just a battle tactic. I love it when you shock and awe the enemy so they start to turn tail, it is all over at that point. I don’t belong to a WvW guild so i just do this with PUGs when I have a chance or even by myself as there are usually some fearless players in the zerg that will follow me in..

You mean the enemy “zerg” of about 5-10 people?
I find it funny that most of these so-called “bag hunt” guilds only ever play when they’re Overgrowth, too. They’re often the sort that /laugh at your corpse when they zerg you, but run away from 1v1s or send you abuse when you catch them.
I repeat, if you wanted a challenge in ANY way in Edge of the Mists you’d take on vastly superior numbers by running around just as a guild, or even solo. You wouldn’t babysit ktrains.
Here’s what you’re actually saying when you babysit a ktrain: “I support PvE farmers turning this zone into a PvE farm. I’ll defend them to the death as they drag the game down into the gutter.”

They are more then welcome to play that way if they like. Sometimes players waiting in queue take their 80 into EotM while they wait. So what if they get some bags. Did you make this thread because you gave them one too many bags?

You basically just described the Hammer Kult guild (minus Darth, who’s actually good). lol
With the frequency I see them cross the ENTIRE map exactly the right time skipping all objectives to kill 6 fr at their own keep door, it’s pretty evident they are using a spy on another account.
And of course, HK always leave the map after they get wiped more than once.
