Midnight Mayhem
Hm – you come at it from the wrong side, I think, by looking at the healing.
As a guardian you can set up reflecting walls to help your people, you can place marks, set bubbles – this works as damage prevention. If we’re talking about bashing a gate in … noone but the people manning the rams shoudl be near the door so the 5 man limit will NOT matter. It will only matter if you have a bunch of people hacking at the door with melee weapons … that, however, is a problem of a stupid team and this kind of problem should not be addressed via a patch but via communication.
When you need to heal (and people can heal themselves too but, alas, you still meet so many people who rush into a fight and kind of expect a healer to save their behinds) you have all kinds of protective measures to mitigate damage. And if heals are used up then a retreat is in order. You can actually do big scale attacks in waves where those rested and with their skills re-enabled can come forward while those with a cooldown retreat.
This, however, requires tactics – and, yes, the possibility for it exists in GW 2. You just have to use it.
When I play on my guard it feels like the zerg is about 20% more effective. When players see heals and less damage going n them they don’t hesitate and the zerg plays more aggressively.
It’s a matter of placement … in tough fights you can either turtle and stack protection or you can have a backline with people resting and an aggressive frontlinet hat retreats on critical cooldowns. Place reflective bubbles, smoke screens, throw in time warps … sole drawback is that you need to be on TS or similar to pull this off. An uncoordinated group cannot do this – so the first step is not to patch something but to get coordinated. Took our server quite a while to get past the egos of the guild leaders but we now manage cross-guild action with a shared TS.

I’m not sure you understand the “stupid team” thing, but we are having to do that more and more. It’s because people transfer to a server, then put down a bunch of rams in the lords room of your keep. That limits the amount of siege you can place. We’ve had them do this to us in both the keep, and at sm. Making it so the only way we could take down doors is by attacking them.
Also you ignore how powerful guardians via staff can be at a door.
