i played til midnight CET, perhaps they fixed that afterwards?? cause my guild mates had the same problem.
I was getting two blue items chances for a precursor with my rank chests, and no badges.
Might be fixed now.

I actually seen a boost in my chests last night. Was happy about that. 10 Badges, 15silver, and two greens.
Just got a rank up without badges. Yea totally working -.-

They call this a boost, I really don’t want to know what they would call a nerf…
Yeah clearly the chest are more random so you might get 10 badges but you also might get none. The chance of higher loot may be slightly higher but its not high enough to notice so the claim of higher loot just looks ridiculous.

Somebody else on the map got an ascended weapon chest.
From that limited sample I would say they have improved.

True, but it is encouraging that in 2 out of my 3 chests I got something better then the couple greens I usually get.

Opened over 20 chests last night… crap in all of them and no badges.

I opened a good bit of chests yesterday and in some I had badges, in some I had siege, and in some I had 2 pieces of gear. I got 2 or 3 rares just from the chests.
I got 3 rank chests last night, out of those I got a rare and a WXP consumable that gave me 3/4 of a rank.
Somebody else on the map got an ascended weapon chest.
From that limited sample I would say they have improved.
I opened 6-7 last night got nothing better than greens as per usual. Half the chests I got zero badges the other half I got between 2 and 10, no improvement at all from my end.

The patch notes say “The WvW rank-up bonus chest now provides greater item rewards.”. I read that to mean only the 1-3 bonus chests you get based on server performance each week were made better. I don’t think they promised standard rank up chests would be better.
No badges from chest for the whole day. And I have the feeling I get less badges from players in general – but that’s since they changed the badges to a currency.

Well given that the rewards from rank up chests have changed I think its safe to say they did mean standard rank up chests. Like I said above the chance of better loot may be slightly better but its likely low enough that its not noticeable, plus the chests have been stupidly made even more reliant on RNG which exacerbates the problem.

2 greens, 10 BoH, 25s. That’s a bit of a BUFF.
No idea wether overall its a buff or nerf…
I should imagine…eventually, when you have opened a couple of 100 to let the RNG even out, it will equate to a very tiny buff…if they got there maths right…which is a BIG IF…
Making it more reliant on RNG is just another sign how no-one from tptb is listening to the numerous player complaints about the OTT reliance on RNG in GW2.

something like 5 rares and 1 exotics. More rares than ive ever seen in my previous 100 ranks, and I had never seen an exotikittenil today.
Also I several times got badges, at one point at least 10 badges from the chest.

Drops from them seem notably improved to me.
IMO there shouldn’t be any greens in the rankup chests. From the few rankups I’ve had since the patch they don’t feel any different.

Yep. I am clocking over 50 in the new chests and have seen one yellow, no exotics. Course I am on a two week string with no exotics despite running a B-Day presents with a modified MF of 225. That is in excess of 125 ranks and 5k+ kills with zip on the good loot scale.

What annoys me is the fact, that before we received a fixed ammount of silver and badges, and then some greens and/or siege blueprints.
There was no need to mess around with the fixed things! It’s ok to spice up things for the other two items, but the rest should stay.

Still amazed ANet does not seem to get it. We don’t want more loot. We want better loot. I would welcome cutting the loot drops in half and bumping the ones we do get by a factor of 3 in value.
Opening a pouch in a game should not be a chore of inventory management where we spend 10 minutes selling. It should feel like pulling the handle on a slot machine hoping for that big payout.

40 ranks at 5000 wxp per = 200,000 wxp = the equivalent of 200 Stonemist captures,
or 2,000 Veteran Supervisors killed or 100,000 Guards.
You claim to have done that in one day, yet your previous standing was only rank 100. Care to explain?
Maybe he got really lucky with liquid wxp. I’m not lucky with that at all, but I never got an exotic in wvw and i’m playing that kitten for over a year (ok, i’m happy if i get a rare once a month from a chest or player)

With a birthday booster which I had been saving specifically for matchups like this.
I took a lengthy break from guild wars. Ive only been back for a month. We’ve had 4 matchups since then. This one, and the 3 before it. The previous one was a proper T1 matchup, and stuff does not flip as much. I also played a weird timezone, so im usually on an outmanned BL playing scout and escorting dolyaks, neither of which give wxp.
The one before that was us, Bg and TC. It wasnt a blowout, but I definitely got more ranks than the t1 matchup
But the first match that I came back to was on a thursday blowout, and the karma train was in full swing. I was only able to be there for 2 days, but I still pulled 40 ranks in it. I also realized that
1. this was an ordinary thing now because of the random matchups
and
2. the birthday boosters would be best used in a matchup like this
so I decided to stash them away in my bank and bide my time.
Then last night, the SoR karma train officially kicked into high gear. I threw on a birthday booster, strolled on down to EB, and sat at my computer for a good 10+ hours flipping things both on EB and the borderlands.
I also had a couple, not a lot, but a couple of the 1hr and 15 minute boosters, which I made sure to be using when we flipped keeps.
40 per guard, 4 guards per keep (2 per tower)
100 per yak
200 per sentry, 400 per camp
100 per gate
800 per tower
1600 per keep
400 for a couple of defense events
And that’s with just the birthday booster.
You usually flip 2 camps 4 towers 1 keep when you do the full side. Which is
800 + 400 + 3200 + 100 + 1600 not counting any guards, sentries or yaks. 6100exp.
Which means 33 full sides. It can take 10-20 minutes to flip a full side (about a minute per gate, and camp) thats 11 hours, which is about how long I played yesterday.
And that’s not counting guards, yaks, sentries, my other boosters, or the players we killed along the way.

A minute per tower? It takes almost that long to get from one to another, You’d have to use golems and face zero opposition. But you’d need someone to flip the towers back again for the next round…
That sounds suspiciously like win-trading. To ‘flip’ complete battlegrounds at that sort of rate consistently for hours is only possible if both servers are avoiding any conflict and simply taking turns.
It seems we get more silver now. They probably replaced the badges with silver. Good stuff. On most merchants one badge is like one silver anyway. Having 10k badges or more is just pointless in the rest of the game…

you know that you can get a lot of exotic armor types for badges (as someone who twinks, or sometimes experiments with builds, this was a nice thing)
