Seems that the new patch will mostly be for PvP. Why isn’t WvW taken into account, it is PvP based, afterall.
Weren’t we told that the dev team would look at implementing/adjusting skills that would benefit in WvW?

I wouldn’t hold my breath on any meaningful changes about balance in wvw. If they cared, they would have nerfed cancer mes into the ground years ago and never added dire/trailblazer stats, perplexity runes, and torment sigil to the game. And they would have realized giving revenant a spammable, 18k, aoe, 1200 range skill on hammer was an idiotic idea in the first place.

The thing is, Jski, there hasn’t been a meaningful update/content for WvW since HoT. There have been changes, sure, but nothing that fundamentally changed the game mode. About the only thing that shakes up WvW is skill change.

PvP is a different game format, own gear, etc.

WvW allows PvE gear, accessories, weapons, food buffs, etc.

There are a few other cross overs but more or less sPvP is on its own. Sometimes a skill/trait will get nerfed to fit in the sPvP meta that is otherwise missed. Same with runes, sigils, etc.

Main – Laaz Rocket – Guardian (Ehmry Bay)
Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)
Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)

Especially now that they have skill splitting setup so that they can make actual changes on there own WITHOUT relying entirely on the balance team.

We are probably going to see PvP focused patches coming from them in the future.

WvW Is a WHOLE different beast. As Crapgame said WvW has armor,food,weapons and battles with 30+ players.

This skill splitting is exactly what many of us have been asking for and now that its happening your kittening because the patch isn’t all about you?

If the patch isn’t about your game mode/class whatever don’t freak out about it. Maybe look at what the patch actually means. Skill splitting means that a small amount of the pressure is taken off the balance team when it comes to MAKING THE GAME BALANCED.

We should be kitten ed well rejoicing that this is happening. Not crying that its not all about us right now.

And don’t bring up the whole “Oh we have been disregarded for so long in favor of x game mode, This is just one more drop in the bucket of anet’s complete disregard for our enjoyment blah blah blah” I hear the same stuff in HoTM all the time in reference to PvE and WvW. And believe it or not I hear it in raids as well as someone complains that X skill got shafted because of Y game mode.

Let Anet do their job now that they finally have the tools set up to do it. We should be encouraging them and offering advice on what they could do with this setup. Not chewing them out in the most see through passive aggressive BS since my High School sweetheart left me for joining the military.

This sounds really well thought out, however, you should know they’ve been splitting skills since at least 2013….so consider that before sitting atop that high and mighty thrown of yours.

WvW receives little meaningful changes. About all we can look forward to is changing our builds which allows us to shake up the game. That’s the focus of this thread.
And if it weren’t for the awful search function, I would look for the post where they implied this. But that’s on me.

You clearly don’t pay attention to changes then…. years?? Let’s see Oct 2015 DBL, Oct 2015 Proof of Heroics and vendors put in Game, April 2016 Reward Tracks added, April 2016 World Linkings added, Jun 2016 Alpine BLs brought back, Sep 2016 Skirmishes Added, October 2016 Boonshare and Rev Facet of Nature was nerfed due to WvW. But yeah it’s been years since WvW received any attention…… bahahhahahhahaha

You’re right, those have been solid changes. And I’m hijacking the response here, but none of those changes (aside from HoT DBBL) fundamentally changed the way the game is played.
And that’s the real issue in my view. WvW has become very stale, and skill changes help to alleviate that issue.
I think it could be argued that some of those changes should have been shipped with HoT too.

HoT with DBL and elite specializations, the return of alpine, linking servers and to a lesser extent, skirmish scoring, PPT and PPK changes have changed the way WvW has been played.

Exactly what kind of changes are you looking for? A third map? population balance?

Well there been a new bl a new way points are done a new reward systom every time they update classes for pve every time they add in a new story line as the reward that are added too new sieges genral updates to targets down rezese… they added a lot A LOT so much so that it feel like what they added in has been there all this time from the start.

I already proved those “small patches” wrong WvW has had an ample amount of attention very recently as proven in my previous post. The overhaul actually makes PvP which is a “competitive” game mode actually better to be competitive something they struggled with since Season 1 and before then. Quit crying move on WvW will get more attention.

Of course they pay attention to PvP, especially when the population drops and remaining player base isn’t happy, they’re still pushing for esports aswell. They have supported WvW for a period, not just in 2013 when they just gave Season 1 and masteries, but it was a little too late anyway and HoT just lost more players.

Things like lnks on the EU side, don’t really make things as balanced as you’d expect.

DBBL: Terrible which we are forced to have.
Bringing back Alpline: They had to bring them back because of DBBL WvW population went so low that even on T1 servers only EB would get queue.
Server Linking: Creates more bandwagon rather than fixing population.
Rward Tracks: Copy paste from PvP
Proof of Heroics: They had to put those in because WvWers dont love PvE. We hate PvE and in PvP you automatically have specializations unlocked.
Skirmishes: Good patch only took them 4 years.
Repai hammer / Canon blueprints: Wasted like a month on this bs could have done something about balancing classes.
Boon Duration Nerf: Good patch what about damage reduction and conditions now? Don’t they ned nerf too? Yes they do but as us being Anet devs we need WvWers to cry and moan for two three months first before we so anything about it.
Removal of crafting stations: Made no difference.
Gift of Battle being a reward track: Good lets those PvErs suffer a little.

What kind of changes are we looking for?
-WvW legendary backpiece.
-WvW specific class balances.
-Introduce new players to WvW.
-Balance current population by reopening BG again.
-Rework siege.
-Rework WvW keeps/towers upgrades.
-Promote GvGs dont just let it be a player driven thing.
-A way to get ascended armor from WvW without have to do fractals, crafting it or PvP…. WAIT WHAT? PVP GETS A VENDOR YOU CAN BUY ASCENSES ARMOR FROM LMFFAOOOOO WHAT EXACTLY IS PVPERS GONNA DO WITH THAT ASCENDED ARMOR? SHOW HOW ESPORTS THEY ARE LUL!

WvW has always been neglected by Anet and they will only neglect it even more.

I think it would work wonders if they just communicated their vision better. It’s hard not to get salty when you see awesome trailers and lots of back and forth between the devs and the community on Reddit and etc. for other game modes. (Between the devs just owning up and saying legendary wasn’t a true indicator and hensleths Reddit post on grouch leaving and saying get hyped bois actually hyped me up for tomorrow)
Also features like the ascended vendor, wvw has been begging for that sense it’s inception and PvP didn’t even need not ask for it and boom. Ofc peeps are going to be upset.
As for the balance lot of times if something is strong in PvP it will be even stronger in wvw due to the stat min maxing.
And wvwers would love a balance patch that said the wvw team is working with the skills team to help bring in line the epidemic ( blah inset problem with wvw here.)

The only hint of wvw in the trailers is the triumphant armour that we still don’t got.

On a side note the (politicalness aside) there’s a reason why make America great again, wether for better or for worse caught on because it gives the appearance of clarity and vision both of which would do amazing things for the community. Like tell me you would wouldn’t get hyped if a dev or MO was like yo we are making wvw great again, mic drop.

kitten when’s the last time you saw a wvw dev on guild chat (I usually skim though them so I may just be talking through my behind)

Tl;Dr wvw needs a vision to get hyped around that’s why everyone’s so salty when it seems like other Modes are getting lots of love

  2. they implement things that only 13.7% of those polled requested.
  3. out off the blue they suggest open field cannons

I was encouraged when developers made the proposal for, “New Worlds”. This gave me the impression that they were trying. I was instantly discouraged when they just dismissed the whole idea after people suggested that there were problems with it, rather than discussing those problems and solutions to them.

Nobody at Anet loves WvW like Grouch loved PvP. That’s what we need, a WvW Grouch, but taller.

It is not a community problem. Every idea they have introduced has failed. the polls they take are completely one sided because they want players to chose something that sounds “amazing” but isnt and are quick to implement with less man power. I even said this multiple times there needs to be WvW specific trailers to attract those players who love massive scale PvP and all thus game mode to get new blood but they arent going to do it cuzkittenWVW. Anets moto since day 1.

Before they reopened BG there was a amazing rotation that started to happen between T1 and T2 and now we are back to 0 because someone chose to open BG cuz few kitten were crying about it on these forums…

The only rotation in NA is between the 3rd and 4th servers going up to T1 after winning 90% of the skirmishes in T2. The rotation before BG was open was because of a tweak to the volatility. The 5th and 6th servers are sooooooo far below the top four the T2 NA matchup will be the worst in WvW for some time, because the top four servers want to overstack to achieve balance with BG, rather than a 6 or 9 server rotation that would make WvW worth playing.

Eventually there will be only three top servers and everyone else will be used to fill the gap caused by retiring players

I have a sneaking suspicion that there will be a lot of upset WvW players when the PvP patch (tomorrow -13/12/2016) doesn’t balance things for them (because of skill separation).

Having said this, it might make the game more …interesting… for players who bring their established PvP builds to WvW and discover that they aren’t as effective in this mode. Hopefully it will mean they aren’t the roaming monsters we currently endure.

Nobody at Anet loves WvW like Grouch loved PvP. That’s what we need, a WvW Grouch, but taller.

Weren’t we told that the dev team would look at implementing/adjusting skills that would benefit in WvW?

This doesn’t benefit WvW.bank.cum?

thats why Anet can’t show you /whois on the map and implement map capacity per server
they won’t get extra income

Oh my god people >.< Seriously? The devs flat out say here that the patch in question was largely made by the SPvP team. Of COURSE the changes are going to be focused on that. Especially now that they have skill splitting setup so that they can make actual changes on there own WITHOUT relying entirely on the balance team.

There are some fundamentally broken builds in WvW that have been around too long. Even if they didn’t do a sprawling WvW balance patch they could have at least addressed builds like Ghost Thief in WvW. A build which pretty much everyone despises.

Since they do balance patches at a minimum of quarterly it is likely significant changes to any builds at this point are months away.
