I’ve been on both sides. Sitting there shooting arrow carts where you can’t be reached is incredibly boring (I never actually do it I just stand there and after 5 min go do something else) and trying to get up the jump puzzle while you have insane ranged arrow carts hitting/putting bleeds on you makes it impossible. It’s just not fun. Get rid of them. Both ways they’re flat-out frustrating to have in the jumping puzzle and they add nothing but over-griefing (this coming from a ganker by heart)

if you want an example go look at tier 1 battle ground eternal battle ground puzzle. 3 ballista, 2 ac. and 30 people.

P.S. fix the vaults in other battlegrounds. i got 6 of each key piece now that i want to use

I feel they need to add more mystic fonts to it, specifically one right after the dark room. Have the corridor leading to the arena branch and head to a new room with mystic font so you can actually get through the arena sometimes without having to deal with the enemy arrow carts and ballistas.

What is removing the siege weapons going to do? If there are 30 enemies waiting at the top, they’re not going to let you pass even if they don’t have siege weapons.

Aside from when being heavily outnumbered, there are plenty of ways to fight back. Yes, your enemy will have the upper hand if they have the higher ground, but it’s definitely possible to fight people that are above you even if they have arrow carts.’

Lastly, please remember that you don’t have a given right to be able to get the chest at the end. Some days people aren’t going to let you get it and you just need to deal with it. I love the jumping puzzle the way it is and I wish more people would hit me with arrow carts. :<

I have to disagree with you immensely gkaare. There is no way to fight back against enemy arrow carts that are positioned in a place where it is impossible for people below to hit. They also hit through the dang walls as well. I was in the corridor leading to the dark room all the way up the steps before it zigzags and was still getting hit by arrow carts. Besides that, it is impossible to hit the arrow carts that are up top.

Look I’m all for the people above having an advantage. But siege weapons give waaaaay too much of an advantage in there because when you get hit, it slows you down making the jumping puzzle almost impossible to complete. And if you can’t hit them back…? If you try to put up an arrow cart down there they’ll just destroy it before you get the chance.

I never said I had a right to get to the top. If there’s six people camping up there and 2 of us then of course not. But if there’s 6 of them and 10 of us and we can’t even hit them while they are hitting us with 4+ arrow carts….Enough said.

Edit: Not to mention ballista’s positioned so right when get to the end you’re immediately hit by 1-2 ballistas for 7k a piece.

You can disagree but you’re wrong. Find a Mesmer or two. If one can’t pull all the people down by himself, then 2 Temporal Curtains back-to-back will. This works through walls and LoS. You can also use a Thief and a Mesmer to double-pull people 1 at a time. Or an Engineer and a Mesmer. Or a Guardian and a Mesmer. It’s definitely way harder to do with a Guardian or Engineer, but it’s possible.

Grenade Engineer or Longbow Ranger can also do massive damage to anyone at the top that is sitting on a siege weapon.

I do this stuff every day. I promise it works!

I’m personally of the opinion that WvW jumping puzzle areas shouldn’t allow for pvping at all. They’re for the most part in their own little area.

The fact that entire guilds are camping there detracts from the idea of world versus world. I see the jumping puzzles more as something to mess around in or something to do during down time. However it is getting ridiculous. The losing servers aren’t participating in any of the WvW at all and instead decide to just sit and camp the puzzles.

How is that supposed to be in the spirit of WvW? Why even call it WvW at that point? Instead it’s become- ‘Oh we’re losing so we’re gonna give up and camp at the puzzles instead of taking back keeps or supply lines even though it’s not going to give our realms any points, ect.’

But lol that doesn’t work when the arrow carts are up the stairs at the end of that particular puzzle. No mesmer portal can reach that far to pull the people camping up those stairs. It might get a few if there were a few ballistas there trying to insta-gib anyone who got close to the end of the puzzle (which happens a lot) but not against arrow carts and their massive range being placed UP the steps out of range of anything people trying to get up can reach with their abilities. You CANNOT reach those.

One of the few reasons I continue to play this game is because of the WvW jumping puzzle. The PvP there is much smaller scale compared to all the other WvW objectives which I find to be boring; that is completely personal opinion. The jumping puzzle is a mixture of PvE and PvP so you have an objective and you are competing with other players against this objective; it’s like sPvP but a very different game style and a new map! Most importantly about the jumping puzzle, the fights become very, very personal.

People say that the jumping puzzle shouldn’t allow PvP or should just be removed altogether. I would actually be okay with that if, first, there were new WvW areas added to the game that contained a mixture of PvE and PvP. Make them so they do not distract from the larger WvW objectives if you must; it’s irrelevant to my desires in the game.

In the meantime, I will continue to do the jumping puzzle every day. Then I will grief as many people as I possibly can until the whole sanctum is cleared out of enemy players.

I must be going now. I have no idea who Wads is, but I believe we need to go and harvest more tears that we require for sustenance.

If they place the arrow cart there, you need 2 pulls. The first needs to be a Mesmer pull. This will get the person operating the cart onto the lower platform next to the chains. The second pull can be a Thief or a second Mesmer or a well-timed Guardian or Engineer. This second pull will get your enemy all the way down.

If you don’t have a second pull, an Engineer or Ranger can at least attack them with Grenades or a Longbow to put huge pressure on them.

Repeat this process until you’ve pulled everyone down and killed them or until you’ve put enough pressure on them so that you can have people actually climb to the top.

I do this every day and as long as we’re not outnumbered by a huge amount, it works every time. If you’re outnumbered by a huge amount then the siege weapons don’t matter.

So you want to take a limited spot in wvw, where queues to get in can be hours long… but you don’t want to participate in wvw… no.

I would prefer they remove the puzzles from wvw and move them to another zone altogether… so that people doing them don’t clog the queue.

There is a way to destroy the enemy siege no matter where they place it.

Me and a group of teamates (20) were camping the gate room with 4 arrow carts, when all of the sudden from behind a treb hit us and destroyed all our siege and killed 5 or 6 of us.

I dont know where they placed it, on some platform behind us……..but it was deff a treb and it was hitting us…..we never could find out where they placed it.

You guys are insane, the jumping puzzle is the last bit of TRUE PvP this game has……….

Where else are you going to die to a enemy at every corner if your not carefull or lose somthing if you die (30 mins of time) it takes to get to the near end. WvWvW???? LOL thats just a zergfest, and if you die you just pay your 2 silver and run back to your zerg.

Any thing goes in there and thats why a true pvper loves it……you guys are just crying because you dont have a zerg to protect you……..ZERG DONT THINK ZERG SMASH….

I have had some of the best 1v1 fights in any game, in the puzzle.

Do not limit a perfectly designed griefing system in a pvp environment. It is one of the highlights of the game. Anet needs to crackdown on fixing the numerous exploits people are using and patch more frequently.

I love the jumping puzzle. I have been on both ends of the spectrum, getting camped right at the entrance to, knocked off the beams in the dark room over and over, and been the one at the top doing it to others. I see nothing wrong with this, and when I realize its impossible to complete that day, you know what I do? Something else.

1) Thief combat bug.. when i attack somebody and i dont kill him. I stuck in combat for 5 minutes. Its too long. Dunno if its caused only by attack or by using some sort of skills.

2) I have no problem fighting in puzzle. But use siege weapon is enough. – Arena 3-4 arrow carts on top of it. When you stuck in combat you cant even jump and kill the enemy. If they use arrow cart and shoot THROUGH textures, you can do kitten.

3) Fun is, if you always has a way how to defeat enemy, no matter what. But where is no hope, there is no fun. 5 ppl camp arena in puzzle jump with carts just suck.

4) When you wount stop siege weapons in puzzle.just make them unable to shoot through walls.

Where is your 1v1 in puzzle, when 4 ppl caming on top of it and use arrow carts so you cant even pull them down. They are out of range or you cant even see them cuz arror carts shoot trhough textures. PvP is fun but you are not even in close range to fight like a man. There are just kittening pussies camping on arena.
