Just a few days ago I recall there being a bank, and guild bank next to the Black Lion Trader in the Invader Borderlands. They are no longer there.

Have they been removed, or was this unintentional?

They’re part of the “Hire Services” upgrade, not there by default.

Thank-you, it had crossed my mind, but could not find the upgrade merchant. Any idea where I would find them?

It would be the quartermaster at the supply depot. Though, I’d suggest not purchasing that upgrade before fortifying walls and doors, adding cannons and mortars and a waypoint.

I tried the various supply depots, but the only appear to have upgrades for the camps themselves. When I say Borderlands, I’m referring to the bottom right, or left-hand corners.

I think there is / have been on one of the maps.

If you look closely the NPC’s are in different places on all the maps. So I never remember on which of the maps they are on >_>

There used to be bank npcs at the spawn on each map. These were removed for reasons i do not know. If i could guess it would be this:

People would join WvW from anywhere in the world, do their TP and Bank thing. Deposit stuff and whatnot. Then log out, log back in and their character would be where he was before he joined WvW. So essentially, it was an easy and free way to get access to TP, bank and Merchants that didnt force you to return to a city. You could just carry on adventuring after.

This obviously devalues things such as portable banks and such because anyone basicly had a “portable” bank by just popping into WvW for a minute. So the value of portable NPCs, not having to go back to town, was not worth anything.

there are still banks and tp npc’s in all the borderlands. i just confirmed it. i was told by a friend though that theres a bug where people can knock the npc away so far that it wont appear on your map anymore. not sure how that works but right now i see a bank and tp merchant in the borderlands so they couldnt have been removed.

That’s funny. I go exactly the other way around with that. I slowly add the services as and when I have full supply. That way I never run out while building the fort upgrades. Obviously it all depends on having the yaks coming in, but nothing says “HIT ME” like a fort that is stalled in the middle of an upgrade, with no supply in the fort.

Nope. The bank is still there, it’s just always on the one borderland. The enemy borderland which spawns you on the same side as Hills keep is the one that has the bank. The other maps have to have a bank service hired.

It’s a bizarre oversight in WvW design and NPC locations, but considering all the other oversights and inconsistencies in GW2, it’s not the worst. There is always one map with a bank at spawn, you just have to know which one it is and go there. If you are based off of another WvW map, tough luck.
