This is the 5th time I have tried to join a squad’s teamspeak since this link up started with CD.. Hey I even got into the Crystal Desert TS in the lobby.. Then spent the next 5 minutes asking and asking which channel… “The biggest one” I’m told.. only problem was there were two pretty much the same size… and nobody’s name I saw matched the commanders tag in the game.

NEVER did these freaking issues occur before this linkup garbage happened. I mean a group with 30 people and nobody could give the channel?

Like I said, this is the 5th time now and well.. frankly I will just go roam camps and run havoc when friends are online… Maybe tag along pugging silently now and then.. Heck I’m only Gold level so I don’t know much yet but learning slowly…

Yes, I ranted and whined… and maybe this isn’t the right spot? I’m not sure, but once again this is clearly an example of people not knowing each other anymore and the main group at the time (not a guild group this time) simply ignoring a request from someone who wanted to do more than just tag along ..

yes you’re right… stop fighting… maybe port to spawn so you don’t die.. or just die anyway… go to channels (if you can even though you haven’t been verified and nobody seems to want to get around to doing that)… and ask, hey are you “xxx” commander? Yep that’s real good…

Sure it’s that “simple”? but it shouldn’t have to be. You call for ts engagement, you should engage the people that come in maybe? Just sayin.

You said there where only two channels… is 50% chance to hit the right one really that awfull?

Either way this is futile. Anet doesnt care about server TS. We told them when links was announced that it would be chaos (that repeats itself every link) due to the TS communities. But nope. They do not care about that. Nor should they really, its a player created thing and its player created issues.

lol… yes that’s true… it’s trivial at best I’m sure… but after the 5th time of just pleading to be given the information and access needed… ugh.. ok let’s delete this thing… it’s making me tired already.. :P

Sorry this was frustrating for you, I had a similar experience.

On some TS servers, you need to be verified before gaining access to certain channels. Further, until you are verified, you will not see the people in the channels. I think the channel you want is “Eternal Battlegrounds” under WvW – and so the people in chat probably just replied “ebg” – but to you any channel that might correspond to “ebg” probably looked empty.

To get verified you can either:
i) follow the instructions listed at the top of that TS server (involves generating a key via ANet … but it’s actually quite easy)
ii) ask to be verified in map chat (you may have to spam this a couple of times – people are happy to do it, but they also get distracted by all the killing and bags and what not)

It is a bit opaque and it is too bad that there is this barrier to getting in the right channel as it certainly makes a big difference having as many people as possible on TS.

Those first world problems of the favored quad server sure are frustrating. Multiple zergs and multiple commanders in tier 4? The horrors of navigating TS sound frightening.

I HATE this 4 server team up… I don’t hate the people.. I just don’t like it any better than our opponents do… I have no idea how they came up with this 4 vs 3 vs 2 matchup…. ‘cause it’s not a match… :P Although we still do get to have some good fights here and there.

The problem is people being unable to complete the simple task of telling others what channel they’re in. I don’t think there’s any way to safeguard against that.

However, having a quad server is problematic for sure.

Right. I don’t understand why it is more common to be quick to blame the guest than the people who have trouble saying what channel they are in. Simple tasks. If you really want people to join you in TS, do the work.

that has nothing to do with the game. just your unwillingness to join a channel and your server people ignoring you?!? something like that. try complain on your server forum (many servers has their own community websites forums)

Yea, it’s a bit silly. I remember back then people would say “Join TS” (What, when, where why?) with no other details. Sometimes it’s quite the guessing game, though there are other times that people think said group doesn’t want to be bothered if they don’t see the initial join message as people can pop up at any time.

People seem to fail to remember that TS or whatever is a third party program and thus people have to go out of their way to find programs and avoid landing on some unfamiliar scam impostor site.

Personally, I found using broadcast in addition to map chat with the address and channel to be fairly helpful, as well as the color of the tag.

Yes, it is effort. But 30 seconds of effort could make yield a huge benefit. It’s almost always worth it.

Oh and BTW, there really needs to be a quick way to change color tags. I’m sure everyone has seen the annoyance of map hopping only to find out you have 3 red tags or something.

OK fine so noone wants to talk to you.
But you know what, you are in their TS, you said yourself you had a choice between 2 channels.

Now there’s this thing most people have, it’s called commonsense. Not all brains come with it so you may have to order it.
So what you do is you join a channel and LISTEN.
Listen to what the commander is saying in the channel.
If the commander says things like “let’s take Question/Veloka/Wildcreek” and you are on a borderland, then you are obviously in the wrong channel.

You think a commander will give one order in TS and do something completely different?!

hahaha… hey this is more fun than I thought it would be.. .I especially like the one that tells me to join MY server forum… which one? BP? ET? CD? Kain? okok… so now we’re down to one of these… NOW I know which server the ts is on so that’s one step. and NOW I have to get to that forum wherever it is (if someone will tell me), then get access to that. Oh it’s all good.. I"ll turn troll mode off.. At the end of the day both sides are right really.

1. Yes, give the info then be quick about providing access.
2. Yes, ask for access and disengage from fighting and bug them until you get to where you, or they, want you to be in TS then return to the game.

Frankly it’s that simple.

Of course I didn’t want to disengage… so we could get circular here and have even more fun. and YES I aired my frustration in the wrong spot I guess. But really with all this server linking that’s going on it really is another one of the pains of the game so to speak..

How is this Anet fault or problem? OP, stop with this. Hammer it out in the TS server where it belongs, not here.

but you had to choose between two channels. and more likely the channel had to be name after the map you were in. so if you were in eb more likely they were in eb channel. ranting here will not help you cause prob people from cd will not see it. saying that in the forums will be more helpful for you.

Melodramatic much? Its on you to step up and enter a channel and find out if it is the right one. If you aren’t willing to do that, well there are plenty of people that mange to contribute without being in TS so again its on you.

i’m not trying to shoot you i’m just saying that this would resolve a lot earlier if you just went to to cd forums or if you tried to join those two channels. it was an unnecessary rant in the wrong forum.

totally agree Mogrey… it wasn’t the first time so it just got under my skin more than it really should have.. Most times it was a matter of me asking and asking which TS was even in use, (not to mention the channel), and getting no responses… but at any rate, I’m not new.. I’ll deal with it one way or the other without griefing people further in here

now with the answer of cd’s commander i hope you will enjoy properly the reset night

It’s also a job of a Lt. too. Lt’s should both organize parties, do invites, and post the TS information. And on CD, I had noticed back when the 4 pairing happened, no one knew which TS server to join. I would expect it to be more of the host server you all join and then it would cut down on some of the issues.

Then as for the actual channel, an Lt or Commander should tell people what channel to join. Even say it every so often with food/oil/stones/crystal check in Team chat.
