Being a Drummer Boy in Zergs
Has anyone tried this or thought about it?
Yea… I’ve done that. The problem is if you get hit and put into combat, your toy gets put away.

This suggestion is gold, I’d be laughing so hard if I was in a battle and there were half a dozen drummers buffing the zurg (I assume the drummer would be buffing all allies in earshot).
It would be interesting if it could provide an area buff while the drum was being played. Nothing over the top, but 1 stack of might or some minor swiftness or something to all friendlies within a certain radius.
This guy did this on our server.
He had all instruments one could get in this game and forced me to turn my volume up.
Fun times – they really were – just that we had to get SM all the time as he was afraid Skeletor would get it and it was his home castle, you know?

Haha that is awesome!

Yeah I agree with that. Would give people incentive to use it. I plan on putting the drum away once combat starts (I still want my bags :P) but I like the idea of being able to play it when the Zerg is just walking around.
Unrelated note but I remember once standing outside SMC with a few people this guy just rushed us out of no where and downed in about a quarter of a second. One of the people with me pulls out a trumpet and starts to play the soldier’s funeral song
Laughed so hard my stomach started to hurt.

If there were unlimited space on a team, I am sure people would not mind as much, but if there is a queue on the map and you are running around with a drum, most people will probably wish you to log out so someone that is actually there to fight could have a place on the map who is waiting to do so.
Think of it like this.. in the middle of a football game going on, some guy with a drum comes out on the field getting in the way and one of the players fighting on your team has to leave since you count for a place on their team. Now imagine if not only do you have a guy with a drum doing this, then some other guys set up a knitting club in the middle of the field during the game ( those coming on to do other things than play) and for every one of them the team trying to play the game loses a player for each.. then you have a few other guys on the team stop moving around at all ( afkers) .. meanwhile the team they are trying to fight against has more players actually fighting the game than standing around or drumming or doing other things.. so your team gets face rolled because they were outnumbered 5 to one on the battlefield since your team didn’t work together to win instead of play with drums and other stuff during the match. That is how WvW is.. if you are not helping your team, you are part of those helping them lose.
This is not an open world PvP mode allowing for many players to be in it at once, it is very limited, thus anyone on the map not actually fighting and helping the server is often a burden to the rest of those who are doing so making their jobs that much harder.
WvW / PVP ONLY
I literally whipped out my drum once on my big naked Charr and our zerg went from being really salty to going into a kind of serene chill trance and everyone just listened and we conquered objectives majestically thereafter with little to zero problems or internal fighting.
You can still do it, sadly some people will have instruments turned off though. Worth it!

He Man still fought like a young god. He was a kitten suicide commander but otherwise we were glad to have him.
You can do both and actually measuring everything on whether or not there is a queue and stuff is rather silly but anet promoted this kind of thinking as the bigger the better – smaller groups are automatically at disadvantage – shouldn’t be and wasn’t back in the day.
There are dudes who now carry warbanners to inspire your team and put horror into enemies.
Oh man, how could I forget He Man? Shame on me. He was a great commander, he has saved us many times and gave us hope in times of desperation!

I would think that the worst blob guild in GW2 would love this, just another excuse for losing.

I don’t know if you saw me write this, but I was thinking of putting it away when I get into a fight, so I wouldn’t be hurting my team at all. Unless my Zerg is destroying everybody, I won’t use my drum in a fight. Besides, when you get into combat the drum automatically unequips and you can’t use it.

That hilarious and something I would totally do Actually, I’d let my teammate die and then play that song instead of ressing him haha.

Here have some cheese and salt to make you feel better. Hopefully you will have a better day now.

So instead of a dragon banner you want a dragon drum.
So instead of a dragon banner you want a dragon drum.
Only for the comic relief. If it turned into another banner scenario then no…
This guy did this on our server.
He had all instruments one could get in this game and forced me to turn my volume up.
Fun times – they really were – just that we had to get SM all the time as he was afraid Skeletor would get it and it was his home castle, you know?
That must be an old photo, my disbanded WvW guild is in that screenshot. He Man was also awsome, just one of those players you’ll never forget.
….. And Elementalist.
Nah I get it I’m just recreating the situation into something implementable.

It is – 2 years old.
But to be honest: I remember a lot of the guys from back then. Even though I have been there (in wvw) for “only” 6 months I remember more of them than players from other servers I’ve been on. Weird.
