Thief has always been the best roamer, and Deadeye will prob be the icing on the cake.
I’m sure Deadeye is going to be really annoying in general, but I’m not sure it will be as good as DD in close quarters or if it gets found and jumped by a few enemies. Dunno if it will be able to survive/escape as easily as a DD can.
I am hopeful Holosmith will be good. Do not see many engineer in wvw. Alot of high damage skills.

Loss of stomp gyro = loss of all class purpose the engineer has in small scale. High damage skill isnt enough to replace it, thats like saying Deadeye would be great with some extra damage… but zero stealth and teleports. I am pretty certain it wont be and will still heavily rely on stealth and teleports in small scale.

The holosmith will play a different role compared to scrapper. Holosmith’s photon forge mode adds extra damage. Scrapper’s gyros are made to add support. Holosmiths should have more burst instead of support.
I never really answered the question of the best PoF roaming class :P. I do not feel that condition spec will do well against the new elites. The top PoF elite will probably be a power spec. The best dual roamers will still be Mesmer/thief plus 1. Small groups are more about how well they focus targets, rez allies, and cleave downed players. So whoever is more organized will win.

1-2 deadeyes with 1-2 DDs, if the DDs don’t take you out you’ll get one shot at 1500 range as they all pick at you.
Also Dawdler, deadeye doesn’t give up stealth entirely and doesn’t really lose much for teleports if running shortbow as alt weapon. They will be terrible at melee but when you have the mobility that even core thief has it would take a thief or a high mobility warrior/Druid to catch you. Even then few classes can match the Z axis movement which is where deadeyes will be most irritating.

Yes, because on my server, there aren’t tags 24/7, and when there are tags, they are usually just on 2 out of the 4 maps, so we roam and make the best of it. You should try it…it’s very skill based.
No one can really say at the moment. We’ll know more after this next beta is done. Kinda like how it is now I’m sure it will vary based on what you (and your group) are trying to fight. Stuff that excels 1v1 isn’t always good 1vX and what is good 3v3 isn’t always good 3vX etc.
Keep in mind that HoT specs won’t necessarily be DoA when PoF hits either. If I were to say what the most intriguing area to look at with PoF release it would be 3 man comps since those usually give a decent indication of what the roaming meta is. My current idea of intriguing 3 man PoF comp is scourge/spellbreaker/renegade if you’re looking to group bust, but we’ll see how it all pans out.

Honestly hopefully more people get into roaming, cause it looks like a lot of stuff is going to be viable for small man with some cool combos that are opening up.

For solo and duo, thief will always reign supreme. Deadeye will just make them stronger.
For group roaming, it is hard to tell. All professions can have something to shine with.
Something tells me Spellbreaker might be annoying to deal with… CC, boonstrip heavy. Hmm. I think thief elite specs will still reign dominant considering their evade spam sustain and escape methods.

Exactly everything you said would be the same if you replaced that with tempest/druid/scrapper, hence the issue.
Deadeye will be the most annoying if it packs strong burst. I’m not too sure it’ll be the strongest, however. I just see it as an extreme gimmick more than anything.
Otherwise the PoF condi mesmer given its damage, and soulbeast as it’s basically a mobile version of Deadeye if you decide to build it that way.

Firebrand will be dead if 1 enemy targets you. No survivability at all.

If it comes out like this, I expect to see half the players in wvw playing deadeye, and pin sniping will become so common that comms will tag off. Three Deadeyes in a focus group will be able to insta down targets for fun.

It’s not just thieves, most classes are very concerned about spell breakers at the moment and they will be able to chase and kill most classes depending on weapons used. Ironically deadeye has the least to fear as they have the mobility and stealth to escape coupled with less boons than other classes for the spell breaker to exploit.
As far as group roaming goes I think scourge, spell breaker, condi rev, druid and possibly mirage will be extremely strong. Stealth and super speed to escape, less boon dependant and good spike healing and sustain from druid and scourge. Condition spikes from mirage and rev will be annoying but it depends how mirage plays out as those clones will die to a stray fart making mirage possibly useless.

Of course removing revealed is the strong part; that’s what makes it ridiculous. It also uses the Elite slot which is a bonus, because there’s traits in Deadeye that already give you Stun on first hit, so Basi Venom is essentially free.
You could see a lot of odd weapon sets used with that elite, because re-initiation from non-DP weapon sets is just too hard for things like S/P or P/P. Giving 2 re-initiations every 45 seconds is a lot more killing power and survivability for those sets.

I’m really hoping Deadeye isn’t going to be as deadly in 1v1 or small-scale scenarios as many of us are expecting. Because if they are, there is only one thing that will be able to keep them in check and that’s a Daredevil. It’s NEVER good for balance when the only way to fight fire is with fire.

Depends solely on the rifle damage and burst capability. Keep in mind that the thief already have a high damage ranged burst option – p/p.
