Best roaming class after sept changes?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
(in terms of solo roaming and 1v1 in WvW)
Best solo roaming class after the changes in WvW?
AND
Which class received the most buff for solo roaming in WvW? (need not make them the strongest, but made them a lot stronger than before)
FOR ME
Best solo roaming = necromancer
Reason: if built and played right, there are very few classes/builds out there that can compete. Most buffed class = ranger
Reason: their dps just got buffed insanely
Necro lacks the mobility to be the best roaming class.
Ranger got upped a notch.
Thief will still be the most popular solo roaming class.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Regen ranger builds with axe/dag and sw/torch and settler/apothecary gear will be really strong. Thieves will remain strong. PU mesmer tumors will be ungodly strong. Necromancers will be exactly the same!
Have fun roaming with perma 5 stacks of torment!
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
Strongest Roamer is a tie between thief and mesmer
Most numerous buffs: Ranger, but still a kitten class in WvW
Best buff: Mesmer. Stacking Torment on the scepter auto attack is ridiculously good
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
(edited by Straegen.2938)
if the mesmer gets auto attack torment, it will undoubtedly be the most powerful class in the game. Especially with a condo build.
Any class or build with stealth spamming, because stealth is broken.
I am going to enjoy a lot with my engi, just to troll thief and pu mesmers.
Thief – Always and forever
the most nasty surprise will prolly be guardian. Dem spirit weapons will make camp clearing nearly instant.

Exactly these.
Necro may be tough in a 1v1, but roaming is only half about winning the fight. They’re hopeless at getting away from an unwinnable fight.. All they can do is die slowly.
Thief on the other hand can end the fight and escape at will… Usually.

however, with increased reveal duration on Sic’em, thieves may get a much harder time to deal with power rangers (i think a new “roaming meta” for rangers will be a valkyrie zerker mix with signet of stone, hunt and sic’em/signet of wild to boost HP and damage.
ATM rangers already have crazy amounts of burst potential using signets. This potential will be unlocked to more and more players post patch as the skill floor for power signets will drop.
Time will show. But i think thieves will no longer be at the very top of the “food chain” in the roaming meta. They will be incredibly strong, but their potency as roamers, due to several direct and indirect nerfs, will hurt them.
Warriors will almost entirely drop out of the meta due to adrenaline changes. This change raises the skill floor so much that the current nike warrior noobs bolting around will be losing out on their combat ability by a wide margin as every roamer other then warrior has evade spams/stealth/protection boons, their bursts and adrenal health will no longer help them like it has been doing for a long time now.

You think so? Maybe. I’ve been running warr since beta and I hate the noob stamp Warrior has gotten and the amount of warriors in WvW. I hope you are right.
Warriors will still be strong roamers IMO. And if that weapon swap trait to remove conditions doesnt get a CD it will outright break the class for people willing to abuse it to its fullest, worse than even Diamondskin probably.
mesmer pu gets a major nerf, the clone deaths r evadeable, blockable, blindable etc
in last ready up before necro and guard they talked about it, also the bleed from clone death gets reduced to 2 stacks to 4 s
Not all changes are knowed yet

true, only the major ones.
All the minor bugfixes and other “not so important shavings or buffs” are not going to be announced before patch day.

I hope so too. I take pride in conservative use of burst skills and adrenaline management, and with the immediate adrenaline falloff after leaving combat and loss of adrenaline on miss it’s going to make Warriors not nearly as noob-friendly anymore (goodbye Earthshaker nikes, nice knowin’ ya). I am looking forward to the new GS burst, though, a 5 target AoE executioner skill that still grants fury — I can get on board with that.
Not to mention what’s happening with Whirling Axe — with Sharpened Axes it gets the same CD as HB, a 17% dmg increase, it’s mobile, and it’s a finisher. With HB dmg getting nerfed 5%, and adrenaline becoming more scarce, an offhand axe on one of my sets may actually have its place. Dual Attack will still be junk aside from a little bit of fury, but with Whirling Axe’s dmg boost and CD reduction it may very well be the new HB.

I don’t think so. The increase duration in Sic’em and the reveal in Engi’s Analize is going to prevent troll thief fighting around 4 players trying to whack-a-mole him.
The thief still have the ridiculous amount of movement, stunbrakers, blind, to get out of combat fast enough and run away and wait to the debuff ends.
Reveal helps to control the kittened stealth mechanic, but is not the cure or solution. Every class should have some kind of mechanic to counter stealth. Like every class has stability to counter CC, or condi clear to counter conditions. Thief is totally fine without stealth spamming. The problem is the thief’s players want to troll in a infinite stealth mode.
Well, stealth thief without stealth is gonna get rekt. Thats just how it is.
Trickery or acrobatics thieves will be fine without stealth. What they wont be fine with is rangers getting actual on demand burst, mesmers spamming confusion and torment 24/7 or guardians hitting like a freight train on steroids.
Post patch there will be a brief race between power rangers and power thieves. One will completely oblitterate the other and pave way for a new meta, and given my personal experince playing and fighting thieves, my money is on the ranger. Current signet setups for rangers allow for a more balanced build then any power DD or even SD spec does.
Either way, time will show.

I think that this change will make no huge extreme change for good Warriors that knows allready how important it is to land burst and manage adrenaline, allthough it will notch it up even a bit further.
But where it will make a huge difference is to bad/mindless warrs that now can get away with being bad. That won’t be the exactly the case after patch. It will be alot more punishing to miss a burst. I think it will be a great change.

That is exactly my point.
Nothing changes with the dire stat, perplex runes, or +40% condi food…so the same face rollers will still be the dominate meta.

After the nerf, confusion is no longer a issue as condition. The damage is pretty low unless you are spamming button like no tomorrow.
My matchup is full of nike warriors right now as roamers. And a lot of thief as usual.
Roaming on a Necromancer with dire condition build is fun. It gives good heath, and toughness with a hard hitting tick. It’s also not getting really nerfed or upgraded with the 9/9 updates so its still a very powerful build.

Yeah, the builds that can run away from condi bunkerz. There is almost zero viability right now with a power build that cannot either run away or stealth (solo).
(edited by zen.6091)
I honestly don’t expect to see much change to be honest. While we may see nike warriors shift out, the Warrior will still remain with their troll worthy celes longbow builds that many run now. Engis and Mesmers will be quite common still. While the D/P thief was toned down slightly, remember the changes will have limited real impact on the way they play. They also still have the troll worthy p/d condi build in full dire.
I think we’re just going to see fewer berserker builds as Thieves and Warriors will shift to condi bunkers which will make this game even more of a waste of time.
We’ll see though. 1 week to go.
Condi is out of control right now, and if what people are saying about mesmers is true then they will be absolutely broken.
Yesterday I was roaming and noticed that about 4/5 dudes I ran into were running full condi specs. Typically I run power on everything but Engi, but I am starting to think the best way to get condis fixed is just for everyone to start running it.
The more we abuse it, the more QQ it will get, and maybe in a year or so it will get dialed down a bit through some adjustments on ANET’s end.

harharhar got rekt by condi spec when running power…. bet it was a power bunker or less bursty power spec then….
The problem is that conditionspecs can be bunkers and tanky as hell but still do as much dps as a full spec zerker with no survival. It’s simple – it takes one stat to go full out condition and three stats to go power.

While I agree very strongly that mobility is important, knowing your limits and having a good sense of positional awareness are also very important. If you have the latter two, you can roam just fine with 0 mobility. I manage to do plenty of things without ever dying on my Necromancer and my only form of mobility is via Spectral Walk, which I don’t even use unless I’m in a fight. Check your sides and back, keep yourself updated by checking the map frequently, make sure any fights you have are in your favor (not infront of an enemy tower/at an enemy camp) and if the numbers are against you, kite until they’re not.
I’m not trying to disprove you as once again I agree and think that Necromancer is very low tier for roaming, but if you practice enough it’s totally doable and very viable.

Conditions have a wind up, power doesn’t. Power builds always try to kite and outlive condition spec’s, I see it happen all the time. They think if they play defensive and stay at range somehow they’re safe. Power damage is instant, condition damage is over time. Aggressive power spec’d builds will always beat a condition build, but 90% of power spec’d builds are too stupid to be aggressive.

Unless you’re playing a warrior with hoelbrak / melandru, -40% food, and dogged, ranged damage and kiting between burst is your only option against dire necro / perplex engi / blackwater mes / trap ranger / condi warrior. If you face roll in all the condis they can dish out point blank and ground target, you’re toast.
I can beat most of these builds with my mesmer by simply GS spamming skills and maybe using few careful MH sword burst. That doesn’t make it interesting or in any way exciting though…it can take a good 2-3 minutes to take down a dire necro with both spectral skills as they eat 95% of my damage, even if I lock down their heal skill. It’s a stupid fight where there’s no high risk turn of events where one player really outplays the other for the kill.
Then you have perplex thieves, which owe their existence to an absolutely indefensible rune and / or the one “why the kitten was this added to the game?” GM trait. There is no individual build that is a hard counter to the perplex thief that can actually kill them unless they completely screw up refuge or don’t have PvE creatures to cloak off of. Heck, very often you will see a group of 3-4 reasonably good players that can’t even kill them before they are able to break combat or refuge has reset with a safe gap.

Really. It’s not more to it. Lets put this in perspective. Take healing signet. So you are actually saying that “a burst heal will always beat a ticking heal because the burst is instant!”
Now we all know that healing signet is healing too much right?

A power build can do this at times…but frequently, a condition build can spam condis, then just play defensive while the dots tick. A power build can push out as much damage as it wants, but it won’t matter if its melting while the condi spammer sits behind gear shield or something like that. The same goes for something like a condi thief that can drop condis, then stealth.
This isn’t to say that fights always play out like that, but it’s a bit more complex than a power build player just needing to go aggressive.
Pre-Patch: Roamers are 60% thieves and mesmers, 20% warriors, and 20% everything else.
Prediction Post-Patch: Exactly the same. Kiting/Stealth builds are ridiculously powerful in small WvW fights and that won’t change with this patch. The only reason the warrior is in the mix is that it has very fast burst speed and is extremely durable.

I roamed with my necro for like 6 months or more. Because I have fun with it, but is awful as roamer. You can see your surrounds what you want. You can learn how to positioning like a boss, but if a group larger than yours or more ppl than you if you are solo roaming see you you only can WP back or stay to die. No other options.
Roaming is about CHOOSE your fight. The necro can’t. Necro is about win or die. In a mode where everyone can join in your fight and big groups running around that make a necro an awful roamer.
Necro is a great duelist. But an awful roamer.
The future of roaming belongs to nike warriors.
Nobody can catch you > bunker in a position.
Nuke in seconds > high damage over time.
Reset the fight nuking-running/nuking-running > fight till die.
And warrior have everything, condi, CC, mobility, tankiness, immunities. The most versatile class in the game by far.
Shattered mesmer is going to be nerf and still without mobility and chasing power.
And more antistealth mechanic coming.
The mechanic of nuking and running is just SO good, and works SO great, letting you a free out of combat card that never fail.
For me, in the future, the same amounts of Thief and now more and more Warriors. Both with the same mechanic, nuking hard and resetting the fight.

please tell me how to land any “nuke” damage on any non-afk target with a GS. Im truly interested, cuz all i see warriors doing is print up to my ranger, try 100b through 3 seconds of evades then run off when it fails.

The simple fact is that this patch will nerf Warriors’ sustain, passive regen and condition removal to a degree that will be noticable but favour a skillful play and fase out the mindless noobs. GS and Hammer will still be popular, Longbow will become more mandatory. It will also force people to actually consider adrenaline gain when making a build. You have also failed to see that after the patch Warriors will loose their adrenaline as soon as they get out of combat. Which makes that tactic a much worse than it is now. Reconsider your opinion.
Even with Stealth, Thieves usually get focused quite alot IMO. Trying to disengage against multiple players; who immobilize and knock you back/down is not easy. No this isn’t just about running solo, I run with some random guys most days.
After the patch Thieves will still be a one of the main roaming classes that has good burst, mobility and are godkitten good medics. Also Venom Share will be quite a powerful tool, although we Thieves generally think that Venoms need more of a rework than this.
Plays completely opposite professions to his main Teef.

Don’t think so. Sure there is a slight loss of general GS DPS but Cleansing Ire was already a tough sell against evasive condi opponents where it is needed most.
The big hole in the warrior builds has always been that burst was a problem outside of the axe, the EXTREMELY slow rifle and the channeled HB. Now when fighting a GS/Hammer warrior and wounded, enemies will have to pay attention. Dropping an 8k hit in one shot, that hole will be filled.

Sorry but I just failed to see what you’re trying to say :P What is it you don’t agree with? And from what perspective are you talking about? A warrior’s?
I really havn’t said anything about GS dps at all, so idk.
Cleansing Ire is allready a tough sell yes, but as it is now you can just switch weapons and try again. That will go lost. One try is all you get.
The rest I really can’t see what you’re trying to say. Not an english speaker, might be why. Sorry.

The Warrior GS picks up a massive improvement to Arcing Slice which will do nearly 2/3rd of a full HB on up to 5 targets with less than 50% HP and generates fury in one shot. The warrior gives up a bit of overall GS DPS and loses adrenal on misses but GS might warriors are getting a substantial improvement even with the adrenal changes.

Mobiliy Or stealth are the first requirements to be effective roamers.
War GS mobbility is untouched.
It even had a buff in the burst.
The loss of adrenaline ooc for a roamer doesn t mean much since you Always run a lot before finding decent fights..
Still immortal as the thief.
Mesmer will be stronger, but still have a counter.
Condition DD ele (even if useless in most other matchups) will maybe get better with the new fire trait. but i doubt it.
I m tempted to try a 66002 DD cele/soldier/zerk ele with both the revamped traits.
But i already will be extremely situational.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Ah yes, that is why I said that it will still be popular.
