Non-polish players always had a hard time on Blacktide, but some commanders at least were TRYING to integrate the community.
Lately i see a new trend: Silent commanders from one special guild, who don’t say anything in chat.

Earlier i felt like an outsider, when there was only polish language in the chat.
Now i feel completely ignored when there are no commands at all in the chat.

Probably 60% of the zerg are players from one guild, fine. Probably they have TS or some other great communicator, great, have fun with it. But don’t you think players from other guilds, or guildless players like me, deserve the minimum of respect and the very minimum of information?
Do you think a “FOLLOW ME” order is all that you need to say when you enter the map?

This is so ridiculous, that i’m not sure anymore, if this isn’t a clever tactic, to make non-polish players leave the server, so you can have it all for yourself.
If that was your intention – you were successful. For me it’s a sign, that it’s about time to change the server.

I’m surprised by this. I was one of the players seriously considering leaving a month ago because the language issue was so bad, but I found recently commanders have become much better about being inclusive. I suppose it depends a lot on when we’re online for which commander appears and how they act.

I have seen commanders recently fighting with each other about either language or experience. I thought maybe it’s because our wvw is finally becoming more active again so there’s some kind of power struggle going in between leaders.

I’d like to hear from commanders about this but my suggestion to you Blankverse is follow the commanders you respect and ignore the rest. Or if you do change servers, I’m sorry to see you (or anyone) go because I think we’re turning things around a bit.

There is a WvW oriented guild on BT called Bt War. It’s full of people from different guilds, and they represent it only when they play WvW. That’s probably why you see “60% of zerg from one guild”.

I’m not sure whether they talk on guild chat, squad chat, or map chat so cannot comment about “silent commanding”.

You think that commander MUST chat with you?
That commander badge he bought is some kind of debt to you?
You have no right to follow this commander, its just his good will that he have commander on, and Anet’s lack of grouping ingame.

And last questin: Why dont you put commander icon on and lead those non-polish players? You just need to say simple Follow me into map chat and everybody will follow you, right? You will be the hero. Dont let this to some other guy with 50 man zerg talking to them on TS and because of that having some sort of organisation. Be a hero man. Buy commander badge and lead your server to glory.

I’ve seen the Commander Tag used in several different ways in WvW:

  • To attract PUGs: Someone pops his/her tag and has all the PUGs follow to build a fairly unorganized zerg/blob.
  • To lead a guild-group: The only difference to the first way is that most of the zerg has the same guild tag and possibly some more organization thanks to TS.
  • To show the position of a guild group to other guild groups: This is the way I like to see the Tag used. On a map where organized guild-groups work together someone from each guild puts his/her tag up so that a quick look on the map reveals all friendly locations. This makes sandwiching or flanking much easier because you can see your allies pushing or getting pushed.

In the first case I think it is imperative for the commander to use say/teamchat to get at least some degree of organization. Tell the PUGs to build/port/push/retreat/hold for example. Otherwise the PUG-zerg is even more all over the place.

In the second case, if you want the PUG-shield you should take care of them (which includes having someone from TS post some very basic instructions in chat) because otherwise they might make a terribly wrong move because they don’t know what’s going on. If you don’t, why tag up? Just have everyone group up and put a target on the leader. With TS it’s easy enough to follow him/her.

In the third case you might not want the PUGs but since you need the tag to give your positions to your allies they will be attracted anyhow. I’d suggest that the guild-groups who like a PUG-shield just take it and the other guild-groups tell the PUGs to run with that commander instead of theirs.

TL;DR If you don’t talk to the PUGs they’ll mess up.
