As the title says, I have a youtube video up with footage of the speed hack/abuse, not really sure how to get the video to anet’s attention. But after trying to “report” the player over a dozen times I must resort to other resources. Help me? The hack/abuse is most apparent from the 45-60 seconds mark within said video.

yeah.. seen this kind of hack in WvW before…. OP fighting Maguuma ? seen quite a number of them from that server last week when we were fighting them.. one of them from the guild Thundercats [HOOO], a guardian…..

No it is ranger from DH. I’m thinking it may be a glitch/exploit because after so many reports (supposedly our server H.O.D. has over 300 for him) AreaNet has done nothing. He is never on without the speed ….short port? exploit/hack (not sure what to call it) . However if it was a hack it should be easy to identify yes? Perhaps AreaNet is way understaffed or just does not care (assuming it is a hack and not a hard to detect/test glitch)?

Either way this player goes beyond the term “game breaking” in my opinion. The same ranger regularly jumps over keep walls etc….. I won’t be pretentious and act as if he is the reason H.O.D. is doing poorly this week, but nonetheless it is game breaking and the lack of response (of any kind) from AreaNet is disturbing to say the least.

Hearing that it is a rampant exploit and or hack happening in other servers makes me wonder why I should even play wvw (and thus guild wars as that is all I really do in game now).

Will I stop playing over a single game breaking player? Of course not, but if it is rampant, widely known, and goes unchecked then there will be no point in trying to compete ftw in WvWvW.

Ya it may be hard to detect at first because of how the recording software drops my fps, but the ranger actually short ports about 200 range every 1 second or so. It is not a speed movement boost from abilites/boons, but a short port spammed over and over (at least that is my best guess).

Re-watch the video and you will clearly see him short porting away (not sure what to properly call the term, so forgive me in advance) as H.O.D. closes in on him.

I’ve seen this player before. It took 7 of us to catch up to and kill the guy. He was somehow evading attacks, clearing CCs, and getting away without using any skills. He also had consistently “skippy” movement, almost as if he was lagging, but at very specific intervals. I thought it was really weird, but chalked it up to my poor knowledge of the ranger class.

What you’re looking at is indeed a speed hack. Watch his pet, projectile speed, attack speed and various other things that have static timers.

He looks as if he has it set on a low multiplier at first, and then cranks it up in order to run away toward the end.

So how do I bring this to AreaNet’s attention? If it is indeed a hack it should be relatively easy to locate the player and ban the account yes? While this would give me some satisfaction, what I really want is the simple knowledge of what he/she is doing, and how AreaNet is going to implement measures to prevent it from happening in the future.

Just watched the video though, and it doesn’t seem to be a hack to me .. the jagged movement part could easily be explained by a lag spike on your end .. it’s not like he’s magically moving 10-30 feet ahead suddenly and bouncing all over like I’ve seen with other videos and blatant hacks. As for resisting CC and other stuff, could be his build/food/traits.

Get a video of him jumping over walls and I think you’d have a better chance of arguing the case tho.

The low fps may make it difficult to see at first, but I promise you those quick ports as he runs away are not my computer/internet lagging. Even others within this thread have reported seeing him do the exact same thing as I have described above.

I made no claims as to the cc “and other stuff”, although I did witness him jumping walls multiple times into sm on multiple days/occassions. Unfortunately at the time I had no recording software.

However everyone is entitled to their opinion and I have simply filled a “violations ticket” with AreaNet. Nothing to do but wait for a response now:)

This is more lag than speed hacks. Calculate how long it takes this guy to get behind the supply depot. Only imagine a line from the point you think he starts to speed hack, up to where he stops…. I don’t really see speed hacks there.

Seriously…? Just watch other players, they’re not warping for him so he has no lag issue. Only the ranger is porting/warping and somehow avoiding damage.

To be fair my fps is low and it may take a couple views of the 45-60s mark to determine that the ranger in question is clearly not moving at the same rate as other players (moving would be a kind word, “porting” is the one I have chosen to describe his movements).

Yup seriously. If you look at his buffs, he has constant regen going which rangers are able to do with certain builds.

I’m not denying the OP’s claim on this, I guess I’ve just seen such blatant hacks where players jump easily 100 feet and back again, over and over, that his 5-6 foot movements don’t seem specious to me and possibly explainable. It was probably more evident in game though and live, but the video didn’t look like hacking to me.

The jumping into keeps/towers thing, however, definately reportable/bannable.

Its no lag as the way he moves is seen by everyone. The way he sets up is hr is ‘just’ fast enough to get away. His speed is always slightly faster then everyone else in combat and I had swiftness on. He would just easily get away anyways. I know his name and account number but I can’t pull it up now because I am not at home. Got screenshots of him inside SM but I’m trying to get him while jumping up the wall

it could be lag on his end, unintentional or otherwise.
