I would say that I am still a relatively new WvW player, but I’ve been playing it pretty hardcore for the last 3 months, so be gentle!

So in our current matchup, IoJ v SBI v NSP, the bloodlust effects seem to be changing hands fairly quickly throughout the day and into the early evening. Going into primetime the balance can shift towards favoring SBI, but not as much as people would think. Last night was a good example with SBI only holding 2 of the effects most of the night while raging on our BL. NSP held the other one (not always their own BL’s either), and that is testament to their roamers being some of the best in the “Silver League”. Even with the bloodlust stacking up on SBI, my guild rarely found itself wiping against the giant hordes in EB. Now I know the EB hordes are karma trains of rallybots in matches like this, but they never really steamrolled us when they had the numbers advantage. So my observation is that the only time the bloodlust is swaying the battles is when the fights are even already between two organized groups.

I guess my question is if the higher tiers are just so different from the “Silver League” that the bloodlust doesn’t change hands that much (I mean it takes 15 people about 3 minutes to do it in our matchups)? And does the stacking of the bloodlust buffs mean more in the higher tier matchups than it does in lower ones?

Like I said, I’m still fairly naive about some of this stuff, but those are my questions.

It doesn’t. We came up with the same conclusion in my server. Insignificant impact on fights, almost impossible to maintain 3 stacks, marginal increase in points. It’s nontheless a fun mechanich that give an immediate objective to roamers, a pretty nice terrain to fight in and possibly put siege.
That’s about it

It obviously affects ppt, but not significantly enough to worry about. If you have the buff stomp, otherwise no lose. No one that plays in a organized group is going to waste their time gaining the buff, unless that is their only goal.

If your server has all three buffs and is behind in ppt by 100, you need to stake thirty people in 15min in any of the BL plus EB to make up the difference. That’s more than significant.

Sure, if it’s a blowout, it’s a blowout. If you are behind 250ppt or more than your server probably doesn’t have the people to grab the buffs and make points off of them. But in a somewhat close match, usually shown by the ppt being 100ish off, this can be a factor.

Wait so you call it significant, but at the same time say it only matters when the ppt spread is around 100? Look at the scoreboard dood and tell me what match is and was ever within 100ppt.

Just to make sure I am clear, you are saying the mechanic is effective in a pretty much even match. So what is the point of it?

From what I have observed so far. In the upper tier matches if the roaming groups of one server manage to gain the +150 to all stats it makes it near impossible for other server’s roamers to take them back unless they bring double numbers. As far as the how the bloodlust affects zergs, these orbs I have noticed are giving zergs enough power to the point where they can almost just drop their tactics and bull rush everything they see.

I am not fond of the bloodlust buffs since it eliminates even ground fights (duels and gvg); but I do like the ability to score points with stomping. If/when (probably) they remove bloodlust I would hope that they would leave behind the ability to score points through kills.

The stomp for points potential is significant. Id estimate BG is getting around 20-25% of their total score from stomps at the moment. In a close matchup adding an extra 20-25% points wins you the week. As someone who has spent alot of their time in small scale fights working on my PvP rather than zerging I really love this buff. Beyond flipping camps and slapping yaks I have more power because I can do what other servers still require a zerg to accomplish. There are very few players I run into who can beat me 1v1 so they come back with more, reducing the size of their zerg and wasting their precious time. Legit PvPers are rare in this game, but this has been a great addition for them. I enjoy WvW so much more now.

I won’t lie, +150 stats is significant. But I think they got the stats right now. It provides even more motivation to get out of your bunkered keep and off your AC to actually fight over a buff that you really should be constantly contesting and holding.

Just to point out here, I predominantly play for BG during Oceanic and SEA against JQ who has full map zergs on an average night now and we are experiencing outmanned buff on multiple maps. Just thought Id mention that before someone comes in and says trust a T1 player to say that.

for good players the buff makes them even more menacing. and for bad players, they are still bad…
