Hey WvW’ers and, hopefully, devs. o/

I’m just a WvW scrub, a rank 44 squire as I write this; I was rank 32 a few days ago when I was prompted to lodge a support ticket requesting that either the BoH drop rate be increased or the cost of the stuff bought with them be lowered.

Support directed me here, saying:

I was given some BoH with my account, when I bought in, and experienced players told me that using some of them with laurels was the best way to acquire my ascended amulet(s). So I did that for a few of my characters as I grew them. The remainder languished in my wallet for some time (like, a year) until I was well enough established to think about legendaries, I had enough BoH left for one Gift of Battle.

Legendaries, I’ve discovered, are like tattoos, stopping at just one doesn’t seem right. I’d also been pointed at WvW infusions, I’d been told they’re “not expensive”.

I’m aware of where siege comes from but, as yet, depend on my guild leader or tag and others far more experienced than I to supply and place it, I have more than enough to deal with learning to not get downed, too often. I see the day coming when I’ll want to acquire some myself though. I already have close to a full stack of Proofs.

Badges of Honor are ludicrously rare.

Amassing 500 for a second Gift took a looong time.

At 125 of ’em for a single infusion I reckon it will take me maybe 8 hours play time, more or less, (approximately) for each. Perhaps precious metal people or players on other servers (or “ltp scrub” yaddada yaddada) earn them more quickly, but judging from what I read here the drop rate vs usage cost is very unbalanced nonetheless.

12 infusions for armor & accessories; another 8 for weapons (counting swap but not UW)… That’s twenty five hundred Badges of Honor. Am I really expected to invest to the order of 160(+) hours, a working month, gaming for infusions for just one gear set on just one of my characters? This is not expensive?

I understand the drop rate was recently decreased significantly. I’m thinking nobody considered the number needed by players new to wvw, or the game in general.

Please devs, either adjust the drop rate to something more reasonable or adjust the BoH cost of the items we want to spend them on.

You get 60 a day from doing the WvW dailies. They can be usually completed in less than 15 minutes.

You are correct OP.

Beyond doing dailies, it’s nigh impossible to get badges in decent order. Sometimes I rank up and receive 0 badges.

It is pitiful but doing dailies and waiting for achievement chests seems to yield more badges compared to time spent.

Of course, when you DO open the chests, you have to keep playing or that boost gets wasted. They should really just convert it to an actual mini booster. No other daily reward chest holds half of your rewards hostage like that.

Also daily Obsidian Sanctuary JP gives some Badges, forgot 10-15 ? (someone please correct me on the number).
