Do you remember the “body block” from gw1 gvgs? Image that in WvW! I want it! a little, but well organized team could stop a whole zombie army in a narrow place .
Image a situation where a too big zerg cant maneuver.
front line, middle line, back line! not just blobs.
I loved body blocking in gw1 but in gw2 it’s just not feasible. With the already present skill lag, imagine that but with 100s-1000s of collision detections going on simultaenously. Not to mention, imagine how impossible it would be to play melee.
after a few days everybody learn moving and fighting but yes, it will be the end of the uncontrollable big blobs…
Line of Warding, Ring of Warding, Static Field, Sanctuary, Spectral Wall. Among all other control skills. We don’t need body block.
Interesting to see and could change the face of the game once people adjust to it.
Anything more than 15v15 would become kittened unless people are really organised(or just spread out much wider in lines, divisions,…).
Would induce a lot of rage and hate from the people that don’t learn to play with it and the people getting in the way of others.
Also pets/clones/minions/quaggans would cause serious rage.(and the whole AI would have to be completely reworked to get them to do anything at all)
Don’t forget about chokepoints
I doubt that it will ever happen, though I would love to see what fights would be like with it. Just spam moar lines
I’d love it but everyone knows a big change like this won’t happen. Maybe in GW3 or another MMO.

If you feel charitable, turn on “Melee assist” setting in your game options. That would be personal body block for you.
Now all is left is to convince all other players to turn it on lol.
i love collision detection. would love it if it is implemented in this game. it will make people rethink their strategy instead of mindless blobbing…..

Unfortunately this is probably not something that is feasible considering skills lag and AoE caps already in place. I would love it though, positioning would be that much more important. Instead of enemies running through you to DPS your trebuchet they’d actually have to move/defeat you first.

That issue could more easily be solved by adding a damage reduction the treb (or dolyak as I’v also proposed many times) for each player withen close proximity. If 10 players guarding a treb made it immune to damage from players (but not counter siege) then they would be forced to kill/drive off the defenders first instead of just bumrushing their target and accepting the fact that some of them will die.
Surely if they go through with this we will know who’s suggestion caused the Anet servers to burn to the ground.

Speaking of Sanctuary. This skill needs a buff.
120Second cool down on a skill that last for 6seconds and requires 1.5 seconds to even cast it and only requires stability to walk through?

Does melee assist only work on the person you are targeting currently or is it all people? Never used it to find out, but if it is all people just remove the option from players and have it on at all times.
i dont know how many extra server power is it need, but melee assist already exsist, so the game counting with your body.
it’s too much load on the servers, mostly because every player can move around individually. combine that with lag and you end up with problems of people warping past you that you thought you were blocking (because you saw them get to the bottleneck after you, but they saw you get there just after they were already through) and everybody will be frustrated.
stationary blocks work fine. they don’t move and aren’t affected by lag (except that lag can cause them to appear later than you intended).
a “block” skill that had a windup time (to counteract lag) and that rooted you the entire time (so that your obstruction doesn’t move around) would probably work fine though. I’d definitely support that.

In AoC my most memorable fight was inside a public instance where my guild had 15 people hold off what seems like the entire server because we had a line of heavys at the front, assassins right behind them that would sneak through and stab people, rangers and casters right behind that shooting and lobbing spells over the front line and healers in the back healing.
And that was only because we could body block. If we tried that same thing in GW2 the zerg would’ve just ran through the heavys into the back line and wiped the squishies then turned around and wiped the rest.
9 months ago the idea of no culling was in the same realm as this idea “No, the servers would explode.” but today we have it (Yes, I know WvW is laggy).
So, instead of just simply saying “No, the servers would explode.” let’s pretend maybe one day WvW is so optimized that we could add this without burning the server room down.
Would you guys like this feature? I know I would.
you are right. if body block come in, big zergs go out. → no lag problem AND the wvw is muchmuch more optimalized as in old times

Know when to cast stability like the l2p thing, in my WvW CC is almost useless even wont stop zergs couse every player know when to use it and know where to use it.

Friendly fire would cause so much rage quite in this game but yeah, even in the GW2 books (the third one) they talked about ele’s having unpredictable magic that can’t distinct friendly from foe. Make it happen for 1 day
