Border Hopping
Way to long time, i usale join the map that have a free spot and stand in que for homeborder so i can join that when it get free, what they can do is with ever Waypoint you chose when switching map you end up at start Waypoint, that way you cant jump direct to Garrison, Bay or Hill.
if they put anything like this in they would need to add the ability to view the WvW maps and number of friendly players for each map at any time. this way a guild team could see where they are need. if a team is going to be stuck in a map then they should be allowed to make an informed decision.
Mobility is an important skill differentiator and choice is important in GW2. So no on every level

And this would never happen be cause Anet refuses to allow players to see anything remotely like numbers in this game. Very tight lip on game “numbers” I mean who makes a MMO and does not add in any type of log function or who command.
So if there is a golemrush in your BL, even if u dont have enough people the reinforcements would have to wait for 15 to 30 minutes? er. LOL

That’s just another reason why WvW should only take place on a single coherent map.
Currently there are too many ways to avoid PvP and still yield good results.
Zergs should be encouraged to clash, not avoid each other running Karma trains in opposite directions.
Terrible idea.

Moving troops from one field to another I don’t really see as an issue. But, based on game design, they should make it so when you change maps you LOSE the supply you are carrying. There is no reason 30+ people should be able to carry 15 supply each from one borderland to another to repair or siege. There is a reason the game wants you to establish supply chains and maintain them on a map, I think this is a really big oversight on their part, and, other than culling (which should be removed entirely – give me all the information please), I see this as the biggest problem with WvWvW.

Before I begin, I must admit that we have used this to our benefit as a guild on numerous occasions. Not sure if this has been covered before.
I feel there should be a timer upon entering a border or EB which stops you from joining another border for a period of time say 15-30 minutes. This timer would have to restrict you even if you relog or switch characters.
I feel that having the ability to switch borders instantly, benefits the server which has the greater number of players at that time. This is most noticable at night or in the mornings. Where the dominant server can keep eyes on all borders and concentrate on one whilst still being able to hop between the others to defend where necessary.
If a timer was introduced the dominant server would have to be more careful about allocating its resources, therefore giving the servers with fewer numbers the ability to actually defend.
Now the adverse argument to this is that an outmanned server could in fact hop borders to defend a tier 3 keep/tower etc. Therefore benefitting also.
Anyway just wanted to hear other peoples thoughts on this.
That’s a really, really bad idea. WvW takes place on different maps only because ANet’s engine is too crippled to make one large map out of it. WvW is not four independently instanced matches … it is a single large event.

I’d say no to this idea.
Instant hopping is very beneficial in saving the borderland/map and also for exporting-importing supplies.

hell no, having scouts and communication through different parties, guilds, alliances is a level of coordination i dont want to see taken out.
As for the point of needing superior numbers to have scouts??? 2-3 people is plenty left to watch a borderland and complete the upgrades, but please remember to help those people with funds. a few people upgrading a borderland is expensive.

Are army can move, and moving is a key tactic in wars.
The game has 4 maps, and each one has am asuran portal linking to the others. F we want what OP suggests why bother with 4 maps, why not stick to one larger one then.
Having an enemy zerg attack one BL then move to another without you realising means that there is bad communication between your players, someone on the other border should have told people on the BL you were on that an enemy zerg is now on that BL.
A lot of servers have community VoIPs which benefit the server as communication can be done faster and without moving BL. If your server is small you can setup a free VoIP which has limited numbers, so you can have guild leaders only not everyone.
In fact I am surprised someone from Desolation has posted this! Your server most definitely does not have a low population in WvW, in fact you are in the lead in tier one with a huge 17k lead!
I am astounded by the sheer idiocy of comments made by these “top” tier servers, they want more and more numbers as that’s the only way they play, they want the easy win without putting in much effort.
Remember to buy the officially endorsed GW2 Steel Series Keyboard, it supports macros!
WvW, we only care if it affects the servers we play on.
At times one server might have ques on all maps while another none at all. The latter would have a huge disadvantage at defending (additional to the lack on manpower) while it wouldn’t be an issue for the first server, they couldn’t switch maps anyway. So this idea would punish the weaker server even though they might have the organization necessary to defend all maps with limited forces.

I often jump maps when ninja’ing supply camps. I like to mix up the maps so that its not so predictable which camp ill go for. I wouldn’t like to be stuck on one mao for half an hour.
Troop movement is fine, supply movement is not!

As much as that seems fair, the reality is ArenaNet doesn’t want people getting pushed off of maps. That creates really boring situations for the servers affected. Getting supply onto a map is a really hard thing when you’ve been pushed off, it’s one of the reasons why supply is handed out during a break out event. Removing the ability to move supply across maps would hurt WvW more than it would help (not to mention it would create really awkward situations when you leave WvW for whatever reason, you would enter again with no supply and maps would become supply starved with people moving around, coming and going. Supply starved situations aren’t very dynamic situations (even hitting camps will only refill 10 people). We need more ways to encourage players to be aggressive in WvW, not less.
Choo does this at night. We place scouts on every BL and hop in with our ~20 or so + people in TS to defend stuff. The times when we do this are when there is nobody in the other TS channels. We’re outnumbered during some times of the night(usually the time between NA and oceanic), we use this tactic to help for that.
I think it’s quite the opposite of what you want. The server will the bigger numbers(well at least speaking in the higher tiers) will have queues on all BLs. It won’t matter where they place resources.
That’s just another reason why WvW should only take place on a single coherent map.

agree completely. get rid of the 3 identical borderlands and quadruppel (or more) the size of EB (and the number of people that fit on a map too ofc)
Camping a keep near you since 2001 !

As i wrote earlyer limit it so you cant jump direct to a Keep you have to first go to start Waypoint on map, that i can agreee would be good to limit the impact off having 1 big Zerg defending all 4 maps.
amazing that the majority of people responding didnt read the OP correctly. Having the outmanned buff would exclude you from the waiting time.
