Hello everyone,
I took the advice of just about every person ever, and began doing WvW completion the moment I started doing world completion in PvE. I was 30% world completion at the time.

I like WvW but I have to be brutally honest. I’ve won very few 1v1s and still haven’t figured out how to counter the roaming thieves (I generally do ok against other classes). Unfortunately I’m doing completion with a guardian so I don’t have amazing mobility.

Anyway, I’m in JQ and this could be part of my problem. I like WvW but it’s very competitive in the first tier. I practice my skills in sPvP and that seems to help but my actual issue is that all I need in the red and blue borderlands are the keeps just below the respective red and blue spawns.

I keep checking multiple times a day to see if we flip those keeps ever but I’ve never seen them owned by anyone other than the corresponding color for that map.

So, question: do those keeps ever really flip in tier 1 WvW, or will I literally keep hoping my server loses the matchup just so I can get map completion? We keep winning and that’s great but it’s bad news for me.

If those keeps do flip in the top tier, are there any tools that might help someone like me know when to expect it (or notify me when it happens)? I doubt they plan their strategies in a public forum where they could be spied on.

P.S. I’ve seen a lot of posts about this by people who are complaining or ticked off. Just wanna say I’m not, and I’ve actually enjoyed the WvW I’ve been doing, usually getting map completion in the WvW maps as a bonus. However now with the maps having only 1 PoI and 2 vistas left – right at that keep – the completionist in me really wants to just put the nail in it and check it off my list.

Normally the team colors are randomized at the match up, so it can be that in the next match up you are another color, so you can easily get those POI’s and vista’s..

Guardian is not an easy class to roam around solo on. It can be done, but it’s not as simple as doing it with a thief or a warrior. I highly recommend Traveller runes.

With regards to taking the Garrison keeps, I’m not sure how NA compares, but in EU even in Tier 1 these keeps will get flipped during the week. Not very often, maybe only 2 or 3 times over an entire matchup, maybe not at all, but it definitely can happen. The catch is, that there is not really any guaruntee over when it will happen. Its just random pot-luck of when your side are on a roll, and the enemy are having a bad patch. A likely time is right at the start of primetime, when one server has started its big events early, while another hasn’t got going yet.

You’re more likely to finish your map completion if you transferred to a T2 server because the matchup is variable instead of the same boring T1 matchup.

@Tribio: are you sure? I thought green was the winner of the previous matchup or something like that? We’ve been green for every week since I started doing map completion (3 or 4, at least).

@Ragnar: great advice, thank you. I kinda wish I had started doing map completion with a different class since I have others but it’s too late now. I’ll keep checking as often as I can, and just play WvW more and maybe I’ll be lucky and there for a keep flip.

@Chewy: thanks for the commentary but that’s not relevant to a question entirely about how to do it in T1. If I wanted to waste 200g to transfer to get map completion I would have already done it.

Well, the other remark from Chewy makes me doubt that actually.. Since you are in T1, you don’t get ‘randomized’ matchups, so that could indeed mean you’re “stuck” with the green.. :-/

Doin it in T1 is wrong bro. Its a quality of life to move to T2!

JQ is known for having a overwhelming SEA coverage over the other two… So if you can get to log on during SEA primetime, you’re likely to be able to get the POI’s and vistas you need easily… JQ was ticking 500+ 2 hours ago.

Fridays are likely going to be your best shot. Either just before or just after reset. Once a server gets a garrison to T3, it is usually heavily defended. Just before reset, many servers are lax on defending since it doesn’t matter. Just after everything is paper. This may not be true of the current T1 setup though.

My suggestion is to load MOS and just keep a watch on it.
