Boredom Setting In For Anyone else?
Its not like they need to add dungeons or more PvE areas on wvw they just need to add more maps differentiate it from the borderlands and maybe increase item drop rates and more rewards for taking stuff to encourage more people to fight
Nope. I go out every night with a few guildies and run around. The only times we get bored is when the other servers quit so we aren’t able to get into any skirmishes. I think my whole guild wishes our server was losing lol. (Only so there would be more fights/fun)

I think they’d get more players engaged by making a stronger reward system in WvW. 10 badges for an hour to two hours of game play has got a lot of PVE oriented people sticking to PVE and not even considering venturing into WvW. You end up leaving with nothing but damaged armor and a nice feeling that you’ve wasted two hours of time for nothing.
Nope, no boredom setting in for me. I enjoy the act of killing the enemy and sieging their territory.
Badges, $$, and more powerful gear are a distant second on my priority list.
Legion of Anvil Rock [XXIV] – Anvil Rock
I just wish there was greater incentive for your team to hold objectives. I don’t like blowing 40 silver on a supply camp to get it taken by two guys or 75 silver upping gates that are probably just going to be overrun when no one is on.
Where do you all come from, WoW?
Do you never actually PLAY any game? You know, instead of endless stat increasing you play the game? Like some people play soccer IRL or bowl?
I have a great suggestion I posted few years ago as well: make Excel sheet and keep adding +1 to the current number. Make new entry for each day, and roleplay the sheet is your character. You will always progress.
ps: And you’re not in PvE section, this is PvP section. Or more precisely, WvW. So if you want to progress invest all your gold for siege weapons and keep upgrades etc.
If you want to instantly kill everyone else in PvP because you played longer, then you came to the wrong game, and I warmly suggest creating Excel sheet.

The only time I have any sense of boredom with WvW is when I want to play in off-peak hours, and cannot gather enough people to do anything (which in Sorrow’s Furnace is more often than you might think). But regardless, personally I couldn’t care less about the statistical or monetary rewards of WvW, I play WvW so that I can play WvW.
If anything I dislike when lots of PvE minded people come into WvW. I’ve grown tired of barking at people for these PvE’ers and their “where’s the zerg”, “we need a bigger zerg”, “let the enemies take some towers and camps so we have something to take back”, and in general bad attitudes towards anyone who suggests that zergging and karma farming isn’t the pinnacle of WvW strategy. If you want to be in a big karma farming zerg, then “return to Orr”.
I would be happy with more frequent badge drops, and realm ranks with titles and looks" for gear. Something to hold my interest as seeing as this is a RPG progression is generally needed, even if it’s lateral. The problem is the badge drop rate is awful. It should be 1 kill 1 badge. I asked a simple question and I’m beyond old enough to have played UO, DAOC etc well before WoW which yes, I did play.
I’m starting to get bored sometime.
I love progression too, even if some people see it as the evil. Right now I’m working on my alt so I’m still good, but once I get all exotic and grow tired of running around in circle hitting a door, what will happen?
To change the beat, I started roaming, it’s a lot of fun. Run from the zerg, take down the loners. Also killing people in JP can be fun!
But the lack of Player name, removing any rivality, is bumming me.
I personaly woudl love some progression, low progression (like +1 stats for a new set), and some rivality. Would love to have the option to show my name in WvW.
But I think GW2 isn’t geared toward it, and it’s all good. Can’t have everything you want in a game. Still a good game.

Did you read the first post?
Did you?
It says: “it gets pretty stale because I can’t make my character any more powerful”
Surbrus: I agree.
Map Chat entry:
“Where’s the Train At”!
I think anytime this is said you should be able to attack your own team. These people need to be hunted and wiped from the maps.
As long as people are trying to actually help I am good with it.
Devona’s Rest
To the OP, no still llving WvW although I want the orbs back in some form/
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
mm, I haven’t felt bored yet, it’s more like the opposite for me. I can stay and do WvW all day everyday I like the rush of defending and capturing areas. I play on a low WvW population server and I prefer this, although the more the merrier, but capturing and holding a few points just feels more epic than capturing with a huge group of WvW players.
The game is still fun for me! I purposely do stupid things sometimes to make things interesting sometimes. For example, I blew a few gold on Candy Corn just because I could.
There’s always stuff to do, really. I’m satisfied.
Im having that same feeling, no realm rank style reward system is killing it for me. im still hanging on tho
On another note, i thought GW2 was the last chance mmo for me. but low and behold The Elder Scrolls Online has shown itself with 3 faction RVR. With skyrims active weapon blocking and leading to counter attacks and (holding the button) power attacks, its combat could be amazing. think Skyrim meets GW2 with DAOC siege RVR
if ANet wont come up with something like a guild ranking system, or setup an NPC selling cool looking armors that can be bought using badges, soon WvW will lose some of its fans. The idea is, we need something that can motivate us to keep on going.
The ability to kill other people cannot get boring for me. The only thing that would add more flavor to it would be if player names were visible and if players had some tangible loss when dying rather then just respawn & run.
More varied maps would be nice, 3 borderlands look identically the same which gets boring over time (I quite like the tropical areas of GW2, would be nice to have some in WvW, desert areas too).

Who is “we”? Pardon my ignorance, but I am from the crowd who plays pvp games for the game itself, and the idea of needing some sort of time sink reward is foreign to me. “We” must have vehemently hated video games from the 90’s and before.

“We” are those people who are different from “You”,
Yes the feeling of zest and fun in killing/pvp is there, but take note that not all players are the same as “You”.
We cannot deny it. It will happen. Yes it’ll just be the minority of the population but it will happen.

I’m just trying to get a sense after 1000+ badges (which are about useless) and running in circles capturing shiz night after night if anyone else is kind of bored with this without anything like a Darkness Falls (DAOC) dungeon to fight over and realm ranks to advance our characters.
Once you’re in full exotics and spend a week out in WvW it gets pretty stale because I can’t make my character any more powerful.
You’re playing the wrong game if you want your character to outstat everyone else by grinding
Bored cus I am always out manned and getting crushed all the time. I seem to make poor choices when I pick servers in MMOs I guess.
As to more on topic, nice if there was some sort of progression in Wv3 other than rankings. Most of the gear you can get here is more easily gained for way less effort outside of it.

And what is so wrong with keeping people on a level playing field? By not always having to fight people in better gear, this game comes down to builds, skill and teamwork instead of rewarding whomever puts in more time grinding for the better gear making sure their same exact attacks hit harder thus nearly guaranteeing a win. As for boredom, only when I’m waiting in queue to get into WvWvW.

The point you’re trying to make in this post is the point he made in his post in response to your first post. Anyway, there doesn’t need to be any guild ranking or player names. People who ask for those things are usually the same people who avoid them because they know they’ll be ranked low and are afraid to lose a fight, features like that lead to more forum pvp then playing the game. Right now, if you’re good, you make your side better and you win fights and loot. If you’re bad, you make your side worse and you get looted. It’s good old fashioned open world pvp.

I dunno if boredom is the right word but I do get a sense of futility(?) from it some times. As another post said it just feels like your going around in circles with no clear sense of victory save a final point score. It almost feels like there needs to be another map between each borderland. Something to make it feel like you are pushing into another territory or driving out invaders, right now the near instant re-spawn just feels like holding a keep is pointless outside of the point tally.
Nope.
WvW daily since 2 weeks after release.

I don;t want to come off singling the ‘we’ and ‘you’ … but honestly it won’t matter what aspect of anything you are playing. Your looking for more. And if Anet were to abide by it and give you more, you will again hit that bridge and come back and post this thread version2 … if your following.
I do understand what you are saying, but your actually looking for a cycle of things in order to sustain your wants. A rank system will have a cap ~ and guess what happens when you reach it … version 2 of ‘now what?’
A lot of players enjoy the ability to play others in the level capacity. Most companies these days – cater to the masses because … I’m almost certain, wait for it … wait for it … they prefer to have masses as consumers versus the few. Helps with a companies stability.
I wish I could make a viable suggestion to help in some way here for you guys … but I’m not certain it’s going to help. What is it you truly seek? Challenge? or some form of substance increase. Achievements aren’t your cup of tea ~ okay well maybe you should take a break.
WvW is where I’ll be because challenge to me is – increasing the overall server, helping where I can … not based on I need my /rank or /title and deer/wolf/tiger/phoenix to pew pew at others. But that is to me.
Define what is for you, what do you want from the game, what is it you like to do? Honestly if you can’t answer that within what this game has to offer, then well you have your answer (even if it’s not the one you want)
No, not bored with Wv3…
Right now, i’m taking a small break since i had an intense week of Wv3 but i still enjoy it.
I generally play Wv3 on my own rhythm while still contributing in several different ways. Sometimes i join a zerg when moving to cap or defend an important structure but i normally break off soon after to other things (always PvP driven).
Either run supplies, build sieges, repair structures, scout and investigate suspicious activities – always reporting back my finds in chat if substantial.
I think i press M as much as i use skills, always trying to check for activity and possible threats or opportunities. If i think the map i’m on is doing well i change to maps i see that could require some help.
Wv3 is still a work in progress – i believe it still needs tweaking on several things but it still provides me alot of fun moments.
I agree this 2 map(borderlands copy&pasted) WvW system offers little incentive to keep piling your time into otherwise than the actual thirst for fights. Anet has proven that with a f2p model they have a hard time keeping WvW competative and incentfull whether in terms on manpower, resources, or priority. Dolyak farming solutions were never found and a system of the wvw game was completly removed with no fix, orbs were removed after 2 months of being broken and hackable with no fix in mind, and rendering remains a huge problem.
The type of game Anet has created will never add any type of physical advantages achievable by veteran players as an advantage to newcomers such as realmrank bonuses and gear. Still, a ranking system was put in place for Spvp making a similiar WvW-based ranking system simply common sense. A socially driven ranking system offering useless titles, gear skins, etc. would suffice. Hopefully ESO learns from GW2’s launch and incorporates more of an incentive than a rewardless forum-posted leader bracket.
Guild Wars 2 remains a good game but by no means can keep the pvp-centric community appeased with it’s current state and progression.

Haha, I loled. All these people who want endless progression should play the game Progress Quest. I personally have plenty of fun murdering tons of invaders with siege.

Move to Sorrows Furnace then. You’ll have plenty of fights since we’re usually outnumbered..
I kid, I kid. :P
But I’m not bored. But thats because all my Guildies are really into WvW and theres constantly 10-20 of us in vent at one time, all doing different things and joking with each other. I don’t WvW for power/cool looks. I WvW for the fun of it and to spend time with my Guildies. Having fun never gets old :P
