I’m just putting it up there; this is just a purely theorycrafting thread, mainly devised for fun.

So WvW is often a pure AoE spamming zerg where 40+ players can stand in the same spot without issues.

But, imagine if we enabled friendly fire for AoE spells(and minus points for hitting allies to discourage it) & introduced player collision, meaning you couldn’t run through everyone.

How do you think WvW would look then? :P

It would probably devolve into endless griefing. This is the internet after all.

You’ve effectively killed zerging. You have also killed WvW.

A group would surely camp friendly waypoints.

I would LOVE to see a true PvP server. The only safe place would be around a waypoint or in a city. The only damage ignored would be from guild mates and guild alliance mates.

Friendly fire would need to be something like 15% damage while the player who does it, takes 30% damage back to themselves.

But either way it would restrict the meta to all ranged nukers with minimal melee because the frontline would just be soaking up the AoE cap. While all melee zergs would be hitting each other every fight. Kind of lame, bad in every way.

Collisions? The server would explode with all the calculations that need to be done, and WvW would be nothing more than hordes of WvW players sitting in innumerable Lion Arch overflows all wondering when WvW will be back up.
