Breakout event commander replaces +15 w/10
On the lower Tier servers the advantage of the Breakout event goes to the already winning server. In the lower tiers there is at no time all maps full and usually 1-2 maps almost empty from each servers perspective. The highest populated or most organised server therefor usually is the first to do this event and get an extra advantage. Personally i think it was a try but anet should remove this change ASAP, it ruins the game experience. It totally removed the feeling of the achievement to clear his home border completely from enemys.

The event itself while not ideal is an attempt to gather players together, perhaps needs to be limited to home borderlands and eternal.
That way servers can still get the feeling of cleaning up thier home map, but struggling servers in unbalanced matchs still get a hand.
For my server in T8 its a very good opportunity to “break out” of the “iron grip” of about 15 defenders who nightcapped a whole map :P Without it we would be doing much worse, as its a chance to get a few people relatively safe to taking a tower and start building up a zerg. i am very happy about those events and would hate to see them go.

that probably is the absolute best way for it to be handled. it would consolidate the numbers onto two maps instead of trying to spread them out over 4. which, in turn, would lead to a higher likelihood that they would actually be able to defend the tower once superman takes off. instead of it just being a set up for a sucker punch.
plus, that’s really the only places they’re actually needed. when your team is getting so stomped that it can’t even hold a single tower on its own borderland. it would keep it relatively rare, and only used when necessary, instead of having an NPC kick start a server’s offensive efforts on an enemy borderland. after all, if a server is able to attack another borderland, while keeping decent control over their own, then they really don’t need a boost in any way, shape, or form. in fact, that can work against the weaker server far more than help them. which would really only add insult to injury, resulting in more of those players avoiding WvW out of escalated frustration.
If the event was only in home borders and EB you’d almost never see it.

By 15 seconds I meant the time it takes the commander to leave. Not his total time :P
For the mid tiers it is specifically enemy borders where this counts. Since the orbs were removed there has been little reason to maintain presence on every map so instead the focus went to taking your entire home border and making it impossible for enemies to ever hold a tower there- if they first took camps you would have time to come defend the tower with numbers, if they went straight for the tower there was no way to get much supply in before a serious assault (and you would be a in a bad situation having wooden walls under fire from trebuchets anyway.)
As such high population hours would largely mean stagnation as only eternal had any tug of war effect to it. If there actually was anything going on in the borderlands it would be all three servers active in just the one border that couldn’t pull together the aforementioned defense.
Obviously there are ways of wearing down those kinds of entrenched positions but even a lot of serious WvW players lose motivation when they struggle to get their natural tower only to immediately lose it.
With this you’ve always got a presence on as many maps as your players care to, without it taking quite the same effort as taking a northern tower before you’ve even got the corresponding keep. You’re basically punished less for being the first players on after a night crew took everything and upgraded it against no resistance.

I (and several other people) predicted this exact thing and is why I was arguing that simply switching the old orb buff with outmanned (or getting rid of orbs completely) was not the right answer.
Something obviously needed to be done, but now the maps are a hell of a lot less interesting.
