Right: seems to me, the Breakout mechanic was originally implemented to give the losing server(s) a bit of a leg up, correct? Right now, the mechanic can be used by:
1.) a numerically superior force in a Borderland, and/or: 2.)a force that holds the _majority_of territory in all BLs/EB. This seems … odd … to say the least.

So, what I’d like to know, are the opinions of others on this board (player and Dev alike)
about whether this is a good thing or not. Have at it, folks.

Yes the Breakout gives an advantage to the team with the higher numbers. ( which usually has the higher score already ). I think the Breakout should be disabled ( on all maps ) for the team which is holding more than 50% ( or maybe less ) of all maps combined. There is no reason that the leading team ( by a large amount ) is in need of a breakout to boost their score. The way the breakout is implemented at the current time does not help to get more balanced match-ups.

I’m not sure what you mean actually. It takes 10 people to start the BL event to capture the spawn tower. I’ve never done the others.

I think the BL one is great and should be taken advantage of at every opportunity. It only appears if you have no towers/keeps on your BL (hence my not understanding what you mean when you say numerically superior force or a force that holds a majority of territory).

For example, our server’s mainly able to hold our BL. What I mean is that: When we, and another of the 3 servers have crud for pop – the 3rd server, that prolly has our numbers and a good chunk of the 2nd’s … These gents can use a breakout, since they’re not entrenched in our area. However, they still – overall – have more pop (WvW-wise) than either opponent server. That’s where I have the issue: seems to me, BO shouldn’t kick over when there’s an obvious server-wide advantage.

Breakouts made holding the bottom two towers for the defending server pointless unless they were already just crushing the competition. It really didn’t solve the issue and just made things frustrating for anybody playing home borderland defense.

The Breakout allows smaller guilds or groups of players to take a tower when maybe they would not be able to. It also is a big welcome to newbies of wvw showing them the excitement of taking a tower, regardless if they are on the dominating server or not.

The conditions for the breakout event must change to include the following:

1) Does the breakout server have over 50% of the total accrued points?
2) Does the breakout server have the outmanned buff of the current bl?
3) When was the last time the breakout event was started (be allowed to start ever 30-45m after failure)?
4) Set a timer on the breakout event. If the event is not achieved in that time, reset the Commander to prevent Defenders from keeping the Commander alive and preventing another breakout event.

It seems keeping the breakout commander alive stops future breakouts. This needs to be fixed.

Good idea badly implemented.
Yerp this helps out the servers that may be heavily out numbered, but you can also have a full culling amount of players also active the event, even if there are only a handful of kittens able to defend.
This should of been set that if the defenders are out numbered, the event will not activate.

Also, this is used as distraction loads lately.
I`ve seen enemy set this thing off, only for them to bugger off back to their own zone.
