Please Anet, give us our old colours back!

Ye the new blue color is horrible. With fast look you cannot tell is some place blue or green. I don’t know why on earth are you even changing the tones of colors like this, it serves absolutely nobody.

Right now I hate it. Not only is the new blue not a good blue at all(it’s some electric turquoise shade that hurts the eyes), but it is also a lot closer to green now. Looking on the zoomed out map, I have to pause to differentiate between the two.

The red and blue are absolutely hideous, to the point it hurts the eyes.

tbh after 20 mins in wvw i had to quit.
checking the map every time i saw swords,with them bright colours started to hurt my eyes.
Would like to see the old colours back,but i doubt that will happen.

You guys are hilarious. I am surprised there isn’t an option to choose the colours but its hardly blinding, maybe you guys just need to turn your monitor’s brightness down.

Anet DOES care about WvW!

The colors are eye popping. Especially the blue.

Why is it that the changes they do make are completely irrelevant when you look at that basic functions they ignore and are left unchanged.

What? These changes take time and are months in the planning process. For all your people who said ANET wasn’t working on WvW, this is for you! haha

But +1, don’t like the new colours. I find it pretty difficult to tell between green and blue now.

does anyone know why they were changed in the first place? I cant say as I recall ever seeing someone complain about those symbol colors before, so why were they changed?

I like the new look. If it had been that way since day one nobody would have cared.

What I’d like to know is who’s brilliant idea was it to make blue into cyan? Now its value and hue are very close to green. Are you kidding? The colors before were your typical RGB, like on a monitor. Those colors represented the spectrum. Now, you put cyan in which is a huge shift. If you’re gonna do that, then make the colors cyan, magenta, and yellow, otherwise, stick with red, green, blue.

Just another example of ANet gifting WvW with something we didn’t ask for and mostly don’t want to take our minds off all the stuff we’ve been begging for.

But WvW is so much more bright and happy now! :P

My team was blue and after a quick glance at the map I thought we owned a tower, turns out it was green and I was promptly run over by a zerg exiting from said tower. If they are going with super bright colors, seems like they could at least go red, blue, yellow because right now the blue and green look pretty similar.

The change may be for those who are colourblind. I’m totally fine with that, though we should have an option to revert back to the old colours. To me the new map looks like it went on an acid trip.

blue and green are extremely confusing now, sometimes i have to open the map to compare the colors to see which one it is at a particular location. please give an option to leave the old colors.

Well personally I have a problem with it because the map became very irritating to look at. The icons are so bright they actually hurt my eyes. I have no problem with them staying, as long as we have the option to revert to the old colour scheme.

When I asked for map changes, this isn’t what I had in mind.

I’m fairly certain they were changed to be more readable for the color blind. I could be mistaken though. Just give it more than one whole day, you’ll adjust and read the colors at a glance again in no time.

Funny thing is that the new blue is more green than the actual blue of the commander tag. If you have a commander icon sitting on top of a blue objective icon, the optical effect is to make it look green. Great change.

The screenshots I’ve seen don’t seem to do it justice, so just let it be a surprise.

I was really confused about the colors too when I first went into WvW, then I went into PVP and realized that it was just another PVP-change that spewed itself onto WvW.

The new colors for the map are ugly and the colors for name tags of the team members and guild members are badly chosen (mix up with certain common backgrounds e.g. yellow grass/hay, blue sky/water).

I guess Arenanet hired a new designer from Microsoft. My computer has Windows 8 and it’s Metro side of UI has one of the most horrible aesthetic designs I have seen in many decades. Mind you, I have been teaching UI design at university and even programmed and designed my own touch screen GUI library. Microsoft Windows 8 Metro has incredibly badly selected font and colors, making readability bad. Google’s UI design e.g. gmail and picture search, has also went down hill in past 2 years. More and more mouse presses required to perform simply common actions, less contrast than there used to be, drop down menus which suck even with mouse. So I guess Arenanet is just following the trend.

Go the whole hog and make commander tags pink. The map looks like a fruit cake now.

Pfft..you may not like the colours but…how in the hell do they hurt your eyes thats just bollox.

Also I made the joke in VoIP last night that ANET is just trolling us, because people been asking for custom commander colors for a while. And on a whim they changed these.

Bring back the manly colours! I know you want to draw more girls but don’t do it with colour changes.

In the mean time, a temporary fix: tune down green and blue gamma to get slightly more manly colours.

I like the new color layout tbh. Felt a bit odd at first, but after 1 hour i can say I find it better than the previous one.

seriously what the hell is up with new ‘blue’ ? On minimap when blue taking green’s objects you can’t tell the difference if it’s already taken or not. This was a horrible decision. Why fix something that is not broken? Change them back please.

Just make a “Colorblind Mode” in the settings somewhere to toggle on the new colors.

My only complaint, other than my eyes burning when I stare at the blue, is that I can’t easily spot the commander tag on the map anymore. I say change the commander tag color or change the blue to something else.
