Bugged Queues
Ran into something like this earlier this morning. Queued for EBG while doing more world completion – and just after I said I had queued up – a guildie just zipped right in. I ended up waiting about 35 minutes for my ‘space’ to pop

We have noticed them for over a year and Anet has done nothing. Nobody has even the slightest hope that they can fix their game anymore. If you want to play, random queues are just the way it is.
Today I was queueing for 1.5 hours, then gave up. Relogged to another char, did some some crafting for about 5 mins, logged back on the main and thought “might as well queue while I’m logged on”. Insta-pop.
People have just given up complaining about it.
Queue from Heart of the Mists. Anecdotal but many have had a lower queue time when they moved there and queued up.
Go dredgehaunt and you get in straight away because anet didn’t even think that somebody actually would be in dredgehaunt like ever.

Thought there had to be something wrong, was stuck in a Q tonight for over 2 hours while I played, still never got into WvW, this morning was bad also, its not even primetime yet.
Yeah queues are bugged as kitten. I spent over hour while my friends entered after few minutes and of course I didn’t even enter in the end. GG anet

I know, but I’m just really frustrated. I’m posting, almost spamming, in many topics about those “queues” so I’ll probably get banned from forums.

Thank you! The Queue’s from reset wasn’t too bad. I was in in under an hour. Though this morning, several hours went by while sitting on the Queue. I went into LA and it popped. Which made me wonder if location is affecting it.

So… the system is screwy but it is (was?) on purpose.

The screwed up queue is the biggest single reason why there are only 2 active members of my guild (out of 20). The rest stopped playing months ago because we could never get onto the same map during guild nights. That’s after we transferred to (what was then) a low ranked server.

I just had the best WvW experience!
Spent 4hours 37minutes in a “queue”. Good thing they’re not really queue’s but random picks…. seriously… during the 4h 37minute wait (after which i rage quit), 5 other people queued up and got in after 5-10 minutes of waiting….

Why would you put in a queue that isn’t a queue in the first place? I mean honestly, I’d love to know the thought process there. People who queue first should be the first to get in. What other way is conceived as ‘fair’?

Queues have been this way since launch guys, if you bothered to listen or hear out EU players you would know this. NA players are just now experiencing what EU players have had since launch.
Edit: FYI to be constructive to the post, it has been stated and proven many times it is not a bug. It is how the queue system is set up. You ARE NOT placed in a linear order, You are placed at random in the queue, So if two people queue at the same time, one may get in instantly, the other may wait 3 hours.

Thank you for letting us know….. but honestly was it a good decision to start a league and make achievements when the queue is not a queue and skill lag is the worse that it has been? I hardly ever post cause I know bugs will be fixed and yada yada yada but really?

You would be correct that it has been this way for NA durin launch. What I was trying to say is NA has never hit the amount of population EU has during prime time there for no queues were created on a regular basis at all. (Going purely off all the T1 servers claiming to never have queues during prime time here) so what I was trying to clear up for NA people is that it has been this way, it is not a bug so stop thinking it is. It is how the system is designed :p

The best thing right now would be giving us the ability to queue to more than one place at once.

So basically Anet knows that the que has been borked. Que as a group and some people in the group get in after 5 mins and some more than an hour later.
Why are basic functions like coordinating and grouping in GW2 given such a low priority in WvW?

Hang on, this is a fundamental issue that has possibly affected the outcome of matches and its a lower priority?? Lets just say your priorities are skewed incorrectly then.
And you say it doesn’t function like a normal queue, well how does it function and why doesn’t it function like a normal queue? We’re the ones queuing we deserve to understand why the queue functions like it does.

I mean, I’m a dev, I know sometimes things have to go out the door for political or business reasons before they’re ready. But honestly why were leagues, achievements, etc., even put on the table if a legit queue was not in place? Why entice more people to play when servers (at least for high-pop/tier 1 WvW servers like Blackgate, etc., and I’ve heard anecdotally other servers are the same) are crippled by current load? It just totally boggles my mind.
My bias is toward thinking there are political reasons things went out before they’re ready because I can’t imagine the guys pouring their energy into making this game would give this game mode an indian burn of this caliber on purpose.

Bugged queues? I haven’t noticed. I’ve always considered the queuing to randomly be put in WvW to be better than the first come first serve. It always seemed silly to me to offer the people waiting longest WvW. Makes much more sense to offer it to the randomly l lucky guy who has been queued for 3 minutes over the guy being queued for 2 hours.
A+ system.
Best part about Q’s is (imo) the server that fills it the fastest gets the reward.
So many times we do a map headcount on a fresh untouched map and see about 50 people answering and the map is Q’d while the opponent runs around 90+ strong.
What’s the deal A-net? you can’t tell me 40 people are secretly hiding in a opponent controlled clean map somewhere ? can you?

Basically you’re saying oh hey guys forget about broken queues the queues will still be broken forever but here is something to take your mind off it and forget it ever existed

This is something that we tested a while ago and might be related to the issue, posted on the forums back then but no confirmation:
Me and a couple guildies from JQ were playing, when one of us left and went to the character screen. After he left though, guild tab and party tab said he was still inside WvW, and his dot was also still inside the map, but when I went to where the dot was I could confirm he wasn’t there.

They were forced to launch early and that is part of why many things have been frustrating or unfinished. It has been frustrating for everyone, including them, and it wasn’t because they didn’t give a kitten .

Please for the love of the six will you fix the lag and the delay in skill activation that plagued a lot of us last night in W3.
Unplayable in its current form, it’s wonderful you could manage to activate skill one, but don’t poo poo me as a Q_Q er because plenty of people last night suffered, as did our enemy who couldn’t even attack us.
For future reference anet, when you add enticing goodies in W3 please make sure the servers can handle an anticipated expansion of players that will come along and seek to attain those goodies.

How could such a bug be no priority over new content?
Last night I finally joined a borderlands after being in a queue for 1 hour and 45 minutes. I did a shout in map chat and people said they had a queue of about 10 minutes.
I always thought the philosophy of GW2 was that you could play it whenever you wanted, for how long you would like it. Waiting nearly 2 hours in a queue is way too long for the casual player.
Seriously, if these kind of bugs don’t get prioritized, I wonder what is your priority? Adding more WvW skill tree’s which are mostly useless?
EDIT: I would get if there’s things like Skill lag higher on the list, but I highly doubt that is ever seeing a major improvement…
If you don’t get in after a few minutes, just refresh your queues. Some people say to try from a new zone as well.
If queues were such a low priority then more effort should have been made encouraging overpopulated servers that suffer from queues nightly to have players transfer to lower populated servers. This means you open server to server transfers for a week and not just open up all servers for people to choose randomly.
