Buying WXP
Everything Purple
It’s using laurels. Which are very limited in supply due to being awarded only for daily/monthly and due to being used for lots of other important things, like ascended trinkets and ascended recipes. Which means it’s not really on option for most people.
It hurts alts, because the number of toons you have doesn’t increase the number of laurels you get.
Colin did chime in that this wasn’t the fix for the WXP issue, but more an add on, so there is that.

Peoples point is that it is practically useless as implemented. Everyone is going to buy ascended trinkets with laurels, also I would save some for future content.
At its current rate it is no where near worthwhile to spend laurels for wxp.
1 rank of wxp takes about 1-2hrs to gain just playing.
1 rank of wxp takes 2 laurels, that takes 2 days plus 1-2hrs per day to get.
Not even close to worth it.
You have this wonderful option of not buying it. But complaining about it is just stupid

Then what is the point of even having the option, if it is just insulting?
It’s not insulting. I used it last night. Free WXP. Just another option.

I don’t think you know what the word “free” means.
2 laurels are worth 1-1.5g + the badges that you could have turned into another 0.5g.

Saying the addition of the option of buying WXP is insulting is like saying a building having an elevator is insulting. If you don’t like it, and/or don’t feel like using it, ignore it and use the stairs. Whining about it existing makes you look silly.

But the elevator isn’t fair to larger families.

Can someone please explain to me why people are crying about the ability to buy WXP? It literally hurt nobody. All it did was open doors to players who wanted the option. I’m honestly really annoyed at all this “it hurts the alts” bullkitten. It’s called character progression. Without it this game would grow really stale really fast.
It hurt players with multiple alternates. They are selling character based levels for account bound currency. Levels which give statistical superiority. Its pretty obvious why this is a problem.

“Not helping” and “hurting” are two very different things. Playing a single character in WvW already got you significantly higher WvW ranks than splitting your time between alts before this.
If you’re still playing multiple characters in WvW, you already decided that playing on alts was more important to you than those bonus stats. Unless you’ve suddenly changed your mind and want to only use one character now that you can waste your laurels and badges on WvW ranks, it really doesn’t change much of anything.
Most people who WvW with any consistency aren’t going to buy ranks anyway. Either because they already have the stat-granting trait lines maxed, because they need the money from badges/laurels more than ranks, or because they’re hoarding them in the hopes that something useful to someone who’s been 80 for more than 3 hours will eventually be sold for badges. And those who don’t WvW regularly will still be fairly easy kills even if they somehow buy their way to a little extra hp and damage output.

Anet has already acknowledged that this is alt unfriendly. Please tell me more about how your right and Anet is wrong.
Considering that isnt what they said… It wasn’t meant to be a solution to alts getting exp. honestly people need to stop crying about this

You see, for me (and I assume for many others who complain) the beauty of this game is was that you don’t need to invest heavily time-wise into single character to stay relevant and thus have all game content available for exploration. This “progression” you are talking about is as boring and stale. The only feeling of progression I have is when I explore the world and/or profession. No amount of WEXP lines will make me take a fresh look at any profession. Partially because WEXP lines are not profession-specific.
The argument is not about how WEXP via laurels hurts alts, it’s not. It doesn’t hurt, it just doesn’t help.
It’s about the game made a turn some time ago from this refreshing approach of having practically no grind which allowed exploring all of its content without falling behind the arm race, to more classical, stale and boring way of grinding and single character focus.
I can see where people wouldn’t like this system. I would never spend laurels on such a small amount of Wxp.
I would honestly like the person that came up with this to explain why they wasted resources putting it in.
