Think the title question needs little explanation.

I’m leveling a new engineer mostly in WvW and I was wondering what to gear her with.
Karma gear seems an obvious choice, but I’m not sure if I should do that each level group of karma items.

I don’t want to be short of karma at 80 too much, because that will be the main gear a WvW character has acces too.

Is karma leveling gear worth it in WvW, seeing the scaling and such?
I have a feeling it is quite important, but not 100% sure…

I would save your karma. You can buy decent low lvl gear off of the TP for a handfull of silver. You’ll thank me for it later when you’re 80 and have to farm less karma.

it’s what I have done for now. It’s actually why I wondered if spending karma would be better than the gold.

If its worth saving all karma for lvl 80 depends on what stats you wanna stack. Not all stat combinations are available on exotics from the karma vendors, e.g. you wont find the knights stuff (power, toughness, precision).

So, when your preferred stats are available from the karma vendors, then save all the karma and buy stuff when you’re lvl 80. Otherwise you’ll have to buy your exotics from TP, so you should save each and every copper for later.

unfortunately you have to travel around in pve to find the proper karma vendors to buy the leveling stuff there.

Karma shouldn’t be a problem if you do your dailys. Just save the cans of karma you get, if you use a karma enchancer you need like 35 for a full set of karma gear.

Do you mean 1.2 million? Because 1200 karma doesn’t seem super impressive =)

Save Karma for 80 when you should know exactly what you wanna min/max (apart the obvious Temple Armor at 80, more equipment might be introduced later and you never know).

You can get crafted stuff for keeping up from TP and that’s more than nuff imo.

You earn karma way faster at level 80. If you see something worth getting, spend it. You could get your armor off the TP as well, but gold costs tend not to scale down (except for level 80 exotics, but this is what you’re saving your money for whether it be armor, exotics, or upgrades) while karma costs scale down tremendously. Of course, it depends on what you have in abundance.

God armor pieces cost 42k last time I checked. That will run you 252k a set. That’s not considering the karma you’ll need for obsidian shards, which are 2.1k each. However, I suppose it depends on your priorities and what your aesthetic preferences are, but about half a million points of karma is a good number to shoot for.
