Guild Leader Of [LOOT]
Yaks Bend Allaince Commander [YBA]
Anyone else think even fully upgraded camps are kitten easy for a 3-4 man party or 1 ranger/thief. This is ridiculous IMO. I think the last upgrade strengthen guards should change the Veteran Supervisor into a Champion. This will not do anything but slow down 10 man teams, but it will hopefully make it difficult for 3-4 man team to cap or at the very least provide a longer time buffer for the team to react
Any thoughts on this?
No, it’s nice that you don’t have to be a large group to still be useful in WvW
It’s a terrible idea. Think of the game as real life. Why would an army leave a a high ranking officer (Commander) to guard supplies? The guard scaling is fine.
If you want the guards to be stronger. Upgrade them
Basic camps are impossible for 1 regular person to do Solo. Possible for a skilled person to do.
A full squad is 5 people.
3-4 people no matter what lvl or class should be able to take camps even if not skilled.
The scaling is fine. You just have to have people actively guarding the camps if you don’t want the enemy to capture it.
No issue with it – nice not rolling with the zerg and making a contribution to the server!
Yeah don’t buff guards, I love being able to solo them as a ranger. Circle strafe, circle strafe, circle strafe, if only the US army learned of this technique we would have no problems at all with war!

I solo camps on my elementalist all the time and I can do it while eating.
Just pop a ally summon utility skill and the rest is a joke.
Any lv80 with all their skills unlocked can solo camps easily.
Well except maybe a warrior because of the annoying blinds.
But I’ve still manage to solo some camps on mines as well, just takes a little longer.

CAMP improvements : leave just the guild supervisor guard, make it ~4 times stronger with a ranged attack, allow it to be upgraded to lvl 81 and 82

Not every lvl 80 can do it. I’ve seen people try. I’ve not got a problem with it. I play a guardian AH hammer build. I can face tank an entire camp.
Not everyone can do it solo. Some will find it harder than others. But its balanced.

I’m not even sure what your last statement means. Pretty silly to be honest.

Slight jab at the ridiculousness of basing arguments on “realism” ?
Well in all honesty I do think camps are too easy to cap solo. I’m a condition thief and I have no problems taking down camps. Hell I won’t even drop below 75% HP doing it with my build.
A fully upgraded camp with extra guards and lvl 82 stuff still can be taken out solo, it just takes a bit longer to do than the regular camps. In which ofcourse people can jump in to defend.
Anyway, I do think there should be a bigger challenge to capping supply camps than what it is now. I’m not saying you need a team of 10 people but atleast require like 3 skilled players to take down a camp.

Some of them know how to circle strafe, but we call those Marines.
I think they should remove npc guards and if you want to keep your supply you station people there or else.

I wouldn’t mind that. WvW shouldn’t really be about 1 man show. Everything should require a small group of some kind. It will promote team work.
There are plenty of solo man activities to do in WvW such as scouting, luring enemies into traps, defending camps etc. Everything should be geared towards team based action. Get the guilds involved in a creative way.
I like the way it is currently. Especially, for the server im in where sometimes we dont have numbers to do anything. So soloing a camp is good. If i have to wait around for 3 to 10 people to show up as some suggested to take a camp I can tell you we would hardly ever have supplies for anything.

i can understand where u can solo a camp by urself cause ur a good player and have nice items BUT when i invest 45 silver to max level a camp,i think there should be at least 3 people to take the camp
I personally was a fan of how the guards scaled in the betas. Not to say that the scaling changed, but almost no one was over level 40. It would be nice to have it be a challenge for a group of two to take a camp again.
Horrible idea. It’s a supply camp for a reason not a fortress that needs champions. You are supposed to be guarding camps/towers/keeps not NPC you shouldn’t need a big Zerg to kill NPC
Big zerg no, but it should take more than a pair of level 80s to take without any risk. Maybe increase the importance of sentry positions to match the difficulty increase of camps?

erm do u think its much to have 3 people take a max upgraded camp ?
I wouldn’t mind having the upgrades scale a little bit more, but a half-decent group of 5 should always be able to cap a camp. An unupgraded camp should stay as it is.
On a related note, I’d like to see guards for the yaks upgraded a bit, or at least made to not immediately disappear if the yak is killed. It should at least be a challenge for a lone player to kill an upgraded yak.
I think camps are fine where they are now with the upgrades. But I would like to see another tier of upgrades for the camps.
Maybe something like your dolyak gains improved move speed and protection and an additional defender for 30s and 250 karma. Then a second strengthen guards for 50s 250 karma (guards get an additional level, supervisor gets 2 levels).
Nothing that would make it much more difficult for a 5 man team, but still challenging enough to buy time for allies to come aid.
as long as we have more then 1 guard per camp,we let enemys pull guards one by one and slice them like butter,we need one guard as strong as 4 regular and also with ranged attack
The problem with off hours is you don’t have the numbers to guard all the camps and yaks to replenish basic supply. And I don’t mean personal supply, I mean tower/keep supply. Since you can’t offload personal supply to the tower/camp supply, you’re entirely dependent on the yaks and camps for any upgrades. And when you’re outmanned, you tend to rely more on your upgrades.
The problem with buffing/nerfing is the devs, in any game, tend to go overboard with it(although I will say ANet is pretty good about this). Small, incremental changes are the way to go if you want to achieve balance.
My two cents: let the supervisor upgrade to 82, and add 1 more escort with the yak. That’s it. And just see how it works for awhile.
kick the guards and scouts, put Veteran Karkas with a few Karkas ftw.

Not so sure about this one. Wouldn’t the karkas tend to eat the yaks? For that matter, wouldn’t they tend to eat the quartermaster??

Karka quartermaster. Karka yaks. These problems solve themselves.
I won’t say it’s particularly easy but I’m used to soloing camps as a necro provided they have no additional guards (frog/ogre/etc) or any enemy players around. I lure them in one spot, then I throw down my marks, wells, and then burst down the Supervisor and his gang in Lich Form. Once out, I heal, Death Shroud and finish them all off. I think I have a sort of routine to pull it off just barely, so anything out of the ordinary (like an increase in strength of the camp guards suggested by thread starter) will might make it very difficult for me to do it solo.
My opinion? Leave it as it is. You want to make it much more difficult? Then go and defend it, put some ballistas or arrow carts. Do events that let NPCs help you etc etc…
There’s heaps of room to expand on the economic system of WvW. For example maybe you could have “upgrade trees” for camps and structures like in some strategy games, so you can choose to upgrade it to provide lots of supply at the expense of protection, or you could make it heavily guarded at the cost of generating supply more slowly, or you could make it dedicated to running supply to keeps by having stronger escort parties with more supply, but players can’t take supply from it.
If we had it like that we would have to limit the decisions made to the guild who claimed it, otherwise chat would turn into an argument and spies would go around getting crap upgrades.
Something should be done, maybe remove the silver fee, because its a total waste money to upgrade camps atm. They constantly flips.
I agree it should be a bit harder IF you upgrade it fully. Right now there’s no reason to do it.
Camps are just fine the way they are right now to me. Soloing a camp becomes a lot harder once a skilled invader jumps in.
I would enjoy it way more if they find a solution for the rendering/lag problem caused by big fights in stone mist. Not being able to use a single skill is really frustrating.
I agree. The fully upgraded camps should be the basic level of a camp with options to upgrade it further. There’s no reason a supply camp can’t have good defenses if it’s invested in. An archer tower would be awesome. Perhaps an option to build a wall around it to force a choke point.
Fully upgraded camps are much harder to take, if someone manages to solo one, your entire server screwed up. The time it would take is embarrassing if you didn’t respond to the white swords.
Honestly the only camps I think are worth upgrading are ones you are actively working out (the two bottom ones in borderlands, the top one in home borderlands) and your two native supply camps on EB. Everything else is too easy to lose and only worth upgrading if you are desperate to get supply into towers, in which case you must have a very strong map presence.
You know what makes supply camps much harder to solo? Scouts. Leave a person at supply camps you want to keep and have them report to the commanders when enemies are incoming. If your server has good response times you can permanently keep a supply camp. The game doesn’t play itself, sometimes you have to do stuff to.
or when a camp is being attack by 1+ invaders we have a text messange in general chat saying :“Supervisor of godsword is under attack”

People could use the amazing thing called a map.
On topic. I think they are fine, however the upgrade costs for extra guards/lvl 82 guards should be reduced. I’d also like the option to upgrade further. However there is no reason that an undefended, none upgraded supply camp should require a reasonable group size to take. One or two is fine.

I don’t think it’s reasonable that something as vital as supply can be so easily captured.
It’s also crazy to think someone is going to stand there for an hour just waiting for someone to come along. Especially when your server has few people. You can’t afford to have half your population defending camps. It’s supposed to be pvp not pv twiddling your thumbs. Give the guards enough strength to put up a fight til people come along. Not get completely steamrolled in 1 minute.
Many times the camp gets taken before anyone gets a chance to look at the map. If you have your map open that much then you’re not really doing anything.
