Can't get 100% map completion
Yeah it is kinda stupid that WvW is required for World Completion (especially that you need all THREE Borderlands! Two of them aren’t technically in your “World” at all, are they?).

My personal view is, with the addition of paid server transfers, and due to the modified glicko rating system they use, Anet needs to strongly consider removing the WvW points from the map completion requirement.

I think the hope was by getting people to venture into WvW for 100% map completion that it would wind up luring folks in (as it did with me), and provide an ongoing source of interest for end game level 80 players.
The only reason to get map completion is either A: source of pride, or B: to get a component to craft your legendary weapon. However, to complete that legendary weapon you need wvw kills to trade in for the ingredient.
But yes, i don’t think they considered this trend of dominant servers in tiers controlling everything for weeks, and not being able to get the poi, no matter the size of your own server’s force. If they’re going to remove WvW from map completion, they should consider an alternate means to get that WvW ingredient, too.

That’s real easy on those servers where you get a full zerg of enemy players barreling down on you as soon as you aggro Veteran Guard.

People who are serious about their Legendary don’t do WvW; they sneak all their alts through the jumping puzzles daily – which can be done regardless if your realm controls the objectives or not. Real WvW is too stingy with the Badge drops to be farmable, really.

You still need map completion to make them. To me the pair are connected because often, particularly in the higher tiers, JPs are camped.

Yeah, I need it for the legendary weapon…And you know that its impossible to get a keep close to their base…specially if you are in T1 servers…even if your server is owning the wvw, your server dont get all keeps and etc.
To be honest, I feel that WvW shouldn’t be required, but can give you OPTIONAL points towards it.

Legendary weps are just that…you should be good and participate in every aspect of the game to get one. WvW is part of the game so stop the QQ, if you dont want to help your server get the points just transfer. The paid transfers are going to be with gems so you can use gold. Yes, this is my problem, I have 2 completed battlegrounds, the other one and eternal are at 90%.
For the record, I have my 100% completion, but I got it when our server was at a much lower tier and map home colours changed frequently enough … But I can empathize with other’s frustrations … Particularly at higher tiers.
If you’re serious about a legendary you’re already farming tons of gold so just transfer now for free, get the POIs and transfer back with gold in a week. Problem solved.
Is it ideal? No.
Does everyone like it? No
Is it going to change before you get the rest of the parts to your legendary? Likely not.

I agree with this. I have my world completion done, I didn’t even have to switch servers, but even if you’re not going for a legendary, world completion is such an obvious goal for more casual players. Except it can take a lot more effort than completing everything else. In some tiers you’re out of luck if you just wait until your server rotates through all the colors, and if the rating system actually works then you’d by definition not be able to rely on rolling other servers so completely that you can get all the points in their keeps.
WvW maps should just be removed from world completion. Legendaries are already hard enough to get and you still need to get the badges anyway.
All my friends are casual-ish players and it sucks that one of the things they enjoy doing the most (completing the map) has this annoying hurdle at the end.

Today there was someone whining like this on map chat, there was a poi that they were missing, and it was currently red, and if something would be done about that (“right now”).
That’s just cheeky.Seriously, get over it. WvW maps are relatively easy to do with some work and patience- easier than all the pve maps for sure. It’s just a bunch of poi’s, a few vistas and skill points- most of which are easy.
Plus, if you actually play while you’re there, it’s fun and the map is just something you quickly get done on the side.
LOL, I’m pretty surethat was me saying, right now! I was kidding of course. It can be a little frustrating though, Sea of Sorrows has been in either 1st or 2nd place for quite some time. This week however, with some luck, we’ve been in 3rd place as I was hoping for the map to rotate. Sure enough we passed Black Gate unfortunately and the few pois and vistas needed are in the Overlook and their Citadel which can be a pain in the kitten to capture. Especially since its so close to their home wp. Not complaining that wvw shouldnt count, Im glad it counts, just wish the rotations were random or sequential. Having to hope you lose wvw to start on a different section of EB isnt logical to me. I hate starting in lowlands everytime.

No. What’s stupid is PvE is required for 100% map completion. I’ve got 100% of the map in WvW…I don’t know why I need to go to PvE to get 100% completion.
Just because things aren’t 100% complete doesn’t mean I shouldn’t get an award that says “100% completion”, right?

Such stagnation rings true in low tiers as well. My server has been stuck on green ever since we landed in Tier 8 on January 5th. In our tier, Sorrow’s has by far the best chance at players getting 100% map completion. But spending a bunch of time in WvW still won’t get you everything.
But the situation is even worse for our opponents. Ferguson’s Crossing has been stuck on blue and Eredon Terrace has been stuck on red since early December. Their WvW populations are so low that their chances of getting map completion on their opponents’ borderlands or in EB are currently slim-to-none. And that just isn’t right.

they should remove WvW from map completion because i was waiting for 4 weeks for us to move to right area i needed we keep changing to the area we where last week we only when left to right and back again and was missing the top area for like 4 weeks i final got it done about bloody time
Anet haven’t commented on it and frankly don’t care. The jp adds to the wvw que, the que gets larger because people want the pois and get stuck going there for ages when they don’t want to (see those guys in home base not moving, they’re waiting for that poi to get taken during reset night). It was a terrible decision, its had a ton of threads opened about it and the devs just don’t give a rats kitten Sorry but theres nothing you can do about it other than map into wvw once in a while and hope its taken. (after waiting in the que for an hour that is).

I’ll trade having to do 90% of my legendary farm in WvW and 10% in PvE like you lucky PvE sods have it now any day. Ever considered a WvW viewpoint? Have to spend time doing far more maps than you do in WvW and other things too. WvW is the tiny part of the legendary, try actually playing WvW and getting those places?

Taking up queue spaces for people who actually want to play the game so they can wait for others to do their work for them for a point of interest…. frankly I resent them rather than feel sorry for them.
I would like the border land maps to be different and wouldn’t mind having the area under control changing each week. Gets kind of boring defending the same keep and attacking the same keep each week when you settle into your rank.
I don’t care if people want to complete their legendary. I just want a bit of variety.
It’s only PvE’ers or noobs who whine about this issue, its mainly if you WvW the average amount (a few times a week) you will be able to get it, because things change each week. Transferring server for the sake of world completion is pure lazyness.
Same with legendaries, the PvE’ers who care about one stupid weapon that has same stats as badge gear whinge and whine on about gift of battle for 250 battles.
They way I see it, ANet wants you to do a bit of everything in GW2 to keep it interesting. That is why they used to have WvW kills on monthly.
I still think ANet should have WvW daily/monthly achievements to attract players to go to WvW. (10 badges, 1 ramdom siege for daily) (100 badges, 5 random siege and 50 silver for monthly) Or something like this…
The point is, PvE’ers shouldn’t play this game if they whinge about WvW is too hard to get your Points of Interests and Vista from. All the servers have been everywhere

Why do you need map completion anyway? if your going to legendary you need badges of honor, if you’re not then its not big deal not having it. If getting 100% map is a big deal then you should have picked your server a little bit better.
I believe anet added WvW too map completion because the gift of exploration you get from having a fully discovered map for legendary, and because you need badges of honor you would be in WvW anyway.
But you can always look for a server thats wiping out the other two servers in WvW and transfer there to get them

I’m willing to bet there are hundreds of people on your server with legendaries, they figured it out and you come to the forums to QQ 5 minutes after they bring in gem transfers. But you might find salvation after next weeks reset of rankings.
I suggest you buy some energy drinks and stay up late when they do reset.

I found the WvW areas completion quite easy. If you jump in and get involved they will come pretty quickly and you won’t need to transfer servers
Look, this is a no win situation for everyone.
For people who are serious about WvW (and in server that actually has queues) it sucks to have mappers in when you could have people who actually care about WvW.
For people who just want to map (like me) I’ve been waiting for three weeks to get into the green position and check the WvW maps several times a day to see if I can get another PoI. I go in there, take up a space that would be better served by someone who wants to actually WvW, and leave as soon as I can.
For people who say it is easy, I’m glad it was easy for you. Seriously, good on ya. But for me, it’s been weeks of waiting and watching.
Look, WvW is kind of fun, but the rewards suck. I get 200+ tokens an hour, much more gold per hour, and better loot in dungeons. If you consider both WvW and dungeons fun (which I do) and realize that the rewards are astronomically higher in dungeons, why play WvW?
ANet. If you want to encourage people to WvW, improve the rewards. Don’t force this map stuff on us. I’d enjoy WvW more if I was in there because I chose to, not because I felt like I had to.
I don’t get why it should be made easyer for pve’rs to obtain their legendary. If they make it so that legendary’s can be gotten from wvw then I’m all for it.
But right now I need to do pve to get a legendary, monthly’s, etc. Even when I don’t like doing so.
You pve’rs have to make one small sacrifice of either waiting or pay for 2 server transfers. Well tbh that isn’t even close to the sacrifice a wvw’er has to make to get his stuff.
That’s what the 500 tokens are for. But the 500 tokens are more useful to encouraging people to actually pitch in and help. Forcing people to map in WvW doesn’t help the cause.
For example, the game requires WvW’ers to get dungeon tokens for their legendary. But it doesn’t require map completion in all dungeons. What good would that do?

Its really not that hard. I even managed to get my map finished on IoJ when we were getting our faces smashed in by CD and FA. Just go out there everyday and watch the maps carefully. Take it one point at a time.

If you PvE guys spent a bit of time organising 20 players for WvW you’d take most POI’s with ease. The toughest would be Garrison, but it’s doable. I mean you all seem to appear out of no-where when a dragon pops up…why can’t you do the same in WvW?

I agree somewhat with the spirit of your post, but not the reality of it. One could enjoy WvWvW, get good at it, get their 500 badges, and still not be able to get certain POIs or Vistas on an enemy map. Maybe for weeks. Perhaps for months. That’s not just speculation: I’ve seen it first hand. And anybody who says that PvE people should just round up 20 people and go take towers have obviously not played against servers who control their own maps with an iron fist because of server population issues.
Look, I have my 100% completion. I’m a commander on my server. I have my Gift of Battle. I enjoy W3 lots. So I’m not just some PvE QQer who can’t map complete. But I get frustration of those who can’t. The best idea I’ve seen is to reduce the map clear to your Borderlands and perhaps EB. Those have the highest chances of every POI and Vista becoming available within a reasonable amount of time. But the idea that a person might have to wait weeks and weeks just to get a couple of vistas is pretty silly.
Oh, and one more thing. It’s a very bad example, this whole, ‘What about the WvWers that have to clear PvE maps for complete.’ Really? Don’t make me explain why that’s just poor reasoning. C’mon, y’all are better than that. It’s relatively easy to get every PoI and Vista and Heart solo in PvE. Does it take time? Yes. But there’s no obstruction in the way other than your own pace and skill. At worst, some skill points might need one more person, but it’s not mandatory for a player with a modicum of ability. Even in Orr. The same can’t be said about knocking down keep doors and taking out the Champ in the control pad.
TL;DR: This even isn’t an argument so much about map clears as it is about being reasonable. If a person wants a legendary, they’re going to have to get involved in WvWvW regardless. But don’t force people into unnecessary waiting and/or server transfers just to get some silly PoI on a map that their server can’t get into. That’s punishing a player for something they typically have little control over.

the color of ur team indicates ur location on eternal battleground. certain places have slightly terrain advantage, which is usually assigned to the lower rank of that tier. there is a reason for color assignment that effect gameplay. while they might be able to shuffle the home borderland without affecting color, i dont think its anywhere close to priority on their to do list.
on a sidenote. if ur rich enough to get ur legendary, i am sure u are rich enough to afford a server xfer to and back to finish ur map. think of it as an extra challanges/expense, just like how u got to farm xx and xx and do xx and xx for requirements, its just an extra step in ur requirement that everyone else has to get through.

Well im a WvW player, who enjoys WvW. I dont enjoy PvE so much, or actually at all. Guess what i had to do almost exclusively to get my Legendary… yah, PvE. Dungeons, Maps, Heart Events, farming for gold/mats (which are atrocious in WvW), run Temples for karma vendors.
PvE players should suck it up. Almost everything about getting a Legendary is a pain in the kitten and we all have to do daunting tasks to get it. Thats part of the Legendary.
The real problem: while legendaries themselves can be traded, the components can’t.
Coming from the original GW, where you could trade/exchange just about everything needed for prestige items, achievements and titles, this is actually one of my main issues with GW2.
I would gladly trade my surplus of WvWvW badges for the dungeon crap, since i can’t be a*sed to play one of those less-than-avg-MMO-quality-dungeons over and over again, just to get the legendary I want.
I have no problem the way it is set up with the 100% map completion that includes the WvW maps. I think it’s great that a player has to travel to the maps to clear them and experience some of the WvW action. The only downside is that a few POI and Vistas are located in fortresses…which are controlled by an enemy world and impossible to get “into” the fortress to get the POI. Things are great they way they are, but in my opinion everything having to do with the map completion in the WvW should be located outside and not inside a fortress that could be controlled by an enemy world. Or design a “free pass” card, which can be used to become “neutral” in WvW and enter enemy strongholds to get the POI. Of course if you attack anything than it’s open season on you and it negates the effect of the pass.
I have 100% map too but if you are on Vabbi, for example, I can not see how u can get 100% map if u don’t move to some another server. That will make the almost dead servers completely dead.
