Can you large-scale fight lovers explain
blob fights aren’t fun
guild fights are fun, guilds are about 20 but no more than 25.
pug zergs are 25-40
depending on what you are, if you are more, you blob
I typically am not running with a group that’s 50-60 deep (more like 25-30 deep), but I LOVE to fight 50-60 deep. I will grant you when the skill lag kicks in, it completely kills the fun, but otherwise there is something tremendously fun about whittling down a massive opposition a few at a time until they break and you overrun them.
Imagine if, for lack of a better analogy, you grew up on or near a beach. The tidal waves would never pulse the exact same way twice, but after a while, you could probably look at the tide and, ignoring all other details, know what time of day it was, what the weather was doing , etc. Eventually, you kind of understand the blob has a kind of life all its own, and you can exploit its behavior to destroy it.
Also, being serious here, dial down your settings a bit, it helps.
Do not blob on EB => no skill lag, gg
Yesterday, we (jade sea) destroyed everything on SFR’s map then on our home map (had to switch the raid cause we were facerolling while the other got facerolled). We died only once on our home map (overconfidence and kittened attemp to ninja lord rush XD).
Then we went on eternal lagground …. lost everyfight, including fight that are basically freewin: empower, veil, static on unaware unempowered ennemy … we die …
We still had lots of fun before going on spamm1-ground, killing full map blob (~70) while you have 2 roaming group getting objective and are still able to kill this blob (means you’re ~50) is very satisfying. The fight were sometimes close (sometimes not unfortunately ^^)
…
It does the job well :-)

How do you enjoy the large blob fights?
I love large fights, always did. Though I rarely experience lag. When I do experience it, it’s server lag. THAT is Anet’s fault and they need to fix their stuff. This past week they raised the map caps and it possible the servers can’t handle large 3 way fights. If it’s just 60vs60, I don’t seem to have a problem.
I should add that there’s only one Guild in T1 able to do that. So unless it’s a keep fight, you aren’t seeing 60vs60.
Any thing over 5 is a large scale fight 5 is a pt fight and less then that is more just a 1v1 fight. What makes large scale fights is the abitly to have very complex plays that 2-3 ppl cant do on there own where you need 4 or more to pull something effective off. So less about one person skill and more about team or group skill.
The way a lot of gvg ppl see it is any thing below 15 is more about sniping one person down at a time 15 and up is about bombing groups.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA
I enjoy the chaos and the flashing lights from the particle effects. The tactics behind each commander while fighting and the objective pressure from map blobs also makes the fights interesting on a macro level.
On the micro level, meh~ I can do without them.

Blob fights are fine, it’s 3-way fights that have a lot of skill lag. It’s sad because it used to be a lot smoother, pre-stab patch.

When i logged on last night on SFR we had a 14 man q for EB, no q’s for the others and one pug comm on Ekittenoaming comm between the other three BL. About 20 following tag in EB (full map…..), and maybe 15 following roaming comm. The opposition full map blob of 60+ came and rolled through our garrison (and probably the rest of BL too).
SFR has a lot of immobile players and not so many actually playing now, and some guilds have quietly folded or moved servers to get away from the bandwagonners just prior to the cost changes.
Obviously we only like it when no lag is involved. It’s hectic and I like zerg fights a lot. But when you cannot use skills, or rather when the old server cant keep up, there is little fun in it. It’s a game issue that seems to come back now and then.
Someone wanna tell me what servers actually blob fight?
My tier currently has a server responding to 5 man havok teams using 30 people and 20 kangaroos when they see you go down….
….. And Elementalist.
Blob fights can be very fun. I prefer ~20s v ~20s, but at times you aren’t going to find that. Some of the most fun I have had in this game was BG v JQ v SoR threeway Hills fights.
Blob fights are only fun when nobody play warrior, guardian, power necro or staff ele.

Because it is war! =p It’s not a duel, a brawl, or a skirmish. It’s 2-3 servers trying to wipe out each other.
Skill lag isn’t usually a problem and it’s not always a given if you’re outnumbered, probably the later is more of an engaging activity. It does lag around SM castle though. I don’t know why.
Personally, I like getting off key reflects/stomps/bursts at an important moment and having these things spell the difference between winning and losing. It’s sorta funny watching a bunch of people explode in either end.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Last couple of days it’s not been fun at all for both my chars. One is in a dead matchup, other is in zerg fights and the server cannot handle it at all.
Depends on the blob fight. If you have a bunch of pugs that will hid behind the AoE line it sucks. But if you have a group of people that are willing to charge, That’s where the fun comes in. Just running into an enemies back line and seeing which ones are and are not targeting you by the way they are facing and determining who to attack off that and a quick glance at their wep/armor. Priceless
Blob fights are most fun for me, it gives me a rush fighting 50vs50
Blob fights are fun. SOmething about large scale battle and coming out on top.
Zerg busting is my passion in this game. Since my return it doesn’t seem as viable, but still can be done with a good dedicated guild.
How do you enjoy the large blob fights?
Because I can often have 40+ of my guild members on a BL together at the same time.
Each skill takes more than 2 seconds to go off. There is nothing you can do if outnumbered
I don’t have this problem often. I changes to google fiber, and 98% of the skill lag I had no longer existed.
Never understand the fact there are so many players willing to form a 50-60 man blob and play through such skill lags.
Perhaps you would understand other players motivations for things better, if you refrained from being presumptuous? I have not heard complaints about lag when we play on the BL’s. The only time we have issues is on EB.
well, i am in a zergbusting guild and skill lag is quiet annoying, but things like toning down shadows and high character models and activating teamcolors seem to help a lot with this. i tone down animations too as during the opening of a massive fight, the skill spam goes crazy.for me the main issue is the amount of internet it consumes…which is an issue if u live in australia
