I just joined the game today and did a few hours of pve before I got bored and started trying out the pvp system. The pve in the game is better than most mmos I have tried but I’m not just a big fan of it. The WvWvW system doesn’t seem to award xp for contributions to kills it only seems to award ressing and capping objectives, which makes xp gain really slow. Warhammer wasn’t the greatest of games but I liked it because you could completely avoid pve if you wanted and level really quickly if you were good, is that possible in this game?

You won’t enjoy WvW at low levels, best xp gain in WvW is around lvl 50 that’s where you get a boatload of xp for supply camp, tower and keep capture.

The way I level my alt is = Lvl 1-15 zone map completetion, storyline until I can’t complete it, move to the next area 15-25 complete story until I can’t finish them and so goes on.

You can hop on WvWvW occasionally to fill up xp gap between zones at low level but don’t hope to level only by wvw

my main, mesmer, was leveled exclusively in wvw from level 2 to 80, so yes it is possible (took me roughly 10 days). Is it the fastest way? nope, but not impossible.

PS: you DO get xp for every kill you contribute to in wvw, just like PvE. At any level though actual kills are only a small part of leveling XP, rewards for events, story completion, dungeons, crafting all far outweigh kill xp at any level.
If you wanna level in wvw join the zerg and get in on capping camps, towers, control points etc.

My server didn’t really have a zerg to follow, we seemed to be dominated on most maps. Pvp shouldn’t be about following zergs though. I think this game would really benefit if they introduced a tiered scenerio system. It was easy to tell I shouldn’t have been in the WvWvW lakes trying to take on players in the first few hours of my characters life but to me a great pvp game should make player combat accessible from day one.

spvp is instanced pve. Never seen a noncharacter player in there and it isn’t tired. You just suddenly get all abilities made available what ever your build is. As I have never seen a player in there I don’t know if you can earn xp from fighting there?

The mists is just were you setup your Spvp character. you need to then sign up for matches, there is a guy there that you can talk to that will display matches for you to join, and then your playing against other players.

Depending on your server and if you can find a decent camp capping guild, you can level up pretty fast in wvw- I’ve levelled 4 characters up in there, only doing skill points when a map is above my level- there are plenty of low level maps so don’t forget to grab them all so you have all your skill unlocked faster.

I leveled an ele almost entirely on wvw..the biggest part of ur xp comds from xapping and ressing. Also a bit of gathering..
It took me 125 hours.

Well its possible but stat scaling is just horrible. I don’t understand why low level chars have to be so weak.

I leveled my Guardian from 7-51 in WvW then went and got all the Skill points I could do at that level finishing around 54 or 55 can’t remember

Went back to wvw till 62 then Lone Post event till 80

The shortest period of time was Lone Post
