I went to another server 2 weeks ago to improve my German. Sadly I realised it’s not as good as I thought, so I decided to migrate back to my original server to play with my family and online friends. I paid 2400 gems for that return home. Now I can’t even play and I have to wait 2 weeks. I’m disgusted. 2400 is a hefty price. If I can not play the game when I want and how I want, I’ll just stop and turn to another game.
And don’t mention Edge of the Mist, I hate it.

regardless whether you transferred for free or paid, the system treats you equally, a transferred acct.

The OP has a point. The restrictions on transfers should have been communicated in game. I don’t know if they are or aren’t, mind you. But if they aren’t, ANet should offer refunds and/or remove the restriction.
I realize it was communicated well in advance online but people need to realize the people who actually read the forums and blog posts are a very vocal minority of the actual playerbase.
Shame on ANet if they didn’t communicate this ingame.
to OP, since he transferred last week, his lock out will be until the end of this week’s match up, and he can join WvW again this coming reset, hopefully. after that, if he still can’t then he can start sending support ticket.

I paid real life money too to transfer to a new server. I was able to play fine for 4 days and now I cannot join up in WvW? I don’t always read patchnotes, I wasn’t aware of this nor did I bandwagon to a better server. I transfered because I grew bored of my old server (as I do a lot, I’m a server kitten lol.. )..
But cmon, I only play WvW and now I’m blocked for two weeks? Unacceptable. Transfer to a new server almost costs as much as the actual game does and I’m not able to play? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm….

I paid 30e to transfer and I’m not able to play, since WvW is the only thing I enjoy playing. There is probably a good reason for it but I don’t agree that it just happens like that, after 4 days of being able to play just fine.
They should at least open up Obsidian Sanctum or make the arena inside a separate place. I transferred servers to duel some friends in OS and now I can’t even do that anymore. I just got back a few days ago from a long break and never heard of this update where you get locked out of WvW. I’m sure I am not the only one that doesn’t read patch notes. Why wasn’t there at least a warning message when I clicked on transfer in the character selection screen?
They announced it via every medium except the actual game – so those who don’t read the forums get a nice surprise when they pay for their transfers. Gotta love that communication.

They will just ban your account if you charge back after purchase and without contacting support. They have the authority to ban your account for nothing so doing this will give them something.
It’d be nice if Anet would wait until reset to fix their bug if this is what is happening. If the purpose of the lockout is to prevent newcomers from influencing their new server’s score, then this weeks lockout is not going to achieve that goal.
A group of friends and I made a transfer awhile back from NA to EU before the season began. Shortly after the season began, we decided to transfer back to NA and we knew about the lockout. Some made the transfer anyways as they did not care to be locked out as described in the announcement, but because they were able to join WvW anyways, the rest of us made the transfer thinking it didn’t apply to cross-region transfers.
We have been influencing our servers score for 5 days now and suddenly are locked out. We’ve managed to get some GvGs scheduled over the next few days but now we won’t be able to attend. I don’t see the sense in fixing the lock out bug 2 days before reset if the purpose is to keep new transfers from influencing WvW scores when we have been doing just that for the past 5 days.

As a fellow community member, I empathize with your frustration. However, the push back you are sensing is the mature community urging you toward behaviors that are culturally consistent with the main stream.
It’s alot worse for guilds who need to recruit during seasons, especailly the fact some guilds have GvGs scheduled for wednesday and thursday but people who only just got locked out cant even enter OS.. many PvE players transfer during seasons to get achieves done (which can be done in a week) and cos of the bug being fixed very late they can do there dungeons with no penalty. Whereas people who only play wvw might aswell have been lockedout from the whole game cos im sure as hell not spending any time in them dungeons

I don’t know any other game that closes off content for players who pay for server transfers. And it’s not just any content, all of WvW is closed off.
Also what about the players trying to get map completion? Locking them out of WvW because of a server transfer is unnecessary.

Because several guilds/servers/players used alternate accounts to do far more than simply spy on the servers they were currently matched up against during season 1. Things like sabotage supplies in keeps; mess with siege and siege-cap maps; destroy golems…. That’s why epic thank those that abused the system previously.

Well then they need to change the system instead of adding restrictions. The things you mentioned are still relevant if the guilds/servers/players buy new accounts and pick the servers they are matched up against.

I don’t think you understand what the argument is for. Of course there are consequences to my actions. I transferred servers and now I am 1400 gems short, but to be blocked out of all WvW? Give me an example of a game where you are restricted from content due to server transfer.
The problem is that the consequence for server transfer is now content restriction. Content restriction should never be a consequence for justified player actions. Let’s hope this does not become the norm in other games.
There should have been a disclaimer stating that anyone would be locked out for whatever the duration upon spending their gems before selecting the option to transfer worlds.
Furthermore the fact that some players could indeed play after transferring during the current season are now unsure of how long the lock-out duration is for.
Maybe add a timer and actually communicate in-game so those that have transferred can actually see how many days / hours they need to wait at least as a bare minimum?

Why implement it in the middle of a matchup…
I do think people are complaining not because they’re locked out, but this happened mid-week, and the players who did transfer (and did not get restricted) already influenced the scoreboard during these past few days.
Since the matchup is close to being over I personally do not care, but I do hope that this lock-out ends this week as I transferred last week (before the end of last week’s match). If I get locked out next week because ANet forgot to implement the restriction then… lol

Scroll almost to bottom of page. As you can see winner server gets enough tickets to get unique weapon skin and start making second one. It’s way more than greens, especially with wardrobe coming. EOTM isn’t blocked, if you want to play wvw so badly, go there.
I feel like the confusion comes from Anet’s unwillingness to admit that they did not prevent people from participating in the first week and a half of the WvW tournament if they transferred the tournament started.
Yes, Anet stated that you would be barred from wvw for a week or two following your transfer after a certain date. What they did not say is that this would not start until April 7/8. Can’t be certain whether they’re going to bar you from WvW for another week (maybe 2 weeks) or if the barring will end when it was supposed to if Anet implemented this properly.
Anet has yet to state (as far as I’ve found) whether they are even aware that people were still able to join wvw after transfering mid-tournament.
I love WvW and I know how disappointing it must be for people who are not able to do it right now. To be fair to Anet, the Spring Tournament restrictions were stated in the blog post well in advance of the start of the tourney. More importantly, the same restrictions were stated in a warning screen when one tried to transfer to a new server after the start of the tourney. Even if one does not frequent the blog, forums, Reddit, etc., Anet listed the restrictions directly to the player in-game before transferring. I don’t know how Anet could have been clearer on communicating these restrictions above and beyond this in-game warning screen.
So the people who transferred after the start of the tourney will not be able to do WvW for up to 2 weeks depending upon what day they transferred (current match and next match). I don’t know why the restrictions didn’t kick in last match, but those who are impacted have not lost anything. You were informed about the restrictions before you transferred so that is still the duration you will be sidelined in WvW. It just kicked in later than expected. But once that period has elapsed, you will be able to go into WvW and kick some tail again.

regardless of whether we were warned or not this whole idea of suspending people from their favorite game mode for 2 weeks is complete bull kitten. I literally have not played the game since they implemented the block seeing as WvW was all that I did.
Also I transferred servers to join a specific GvG guild, not to bandwagon to a winning server (I would have transferred to blackgate months ago if that were the case…)

it is not 14 days…
it is “for the remaining days of the current match up, and also the whole week of next match up”.
depending on the day you transferred, the lockout can be between 7-14 days.
