Chart of Total capture volume by server NA.
That looks interesting. So it’s the point value of captured objectives 14th of February? Where did you get this information?
Interesting break-up. The tiers are pretty easy to distinguish in most cases too.
Any chance of getting the same graph for EU servers? Would love to see how things stand over here.

Its the point value of all captures for the week starting on the February 14th.

I was unaware that the start times for EU and NA were different. I assume that both are using UTC time but the EU start is about 7 hours earlier I think. So I am missing data this week but I should have a full set of EU data next week.
Some servers that are performing strong are still working their way up so are placed much higher than their rating/tier on this chart. Dragonbrand is the big mover. That process is a bit slowed by the scoring mechanism used in Anets Glicko. Long boring write up here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Error-in-WvW-Glicko-Scoring
I gotta be honest, when I saw YB topping the PPT chart I snickered a bit.

LOL me too
Some of the other ones that did not surprise me that I have experienced in the past, and although on a lower scale, are what I would consider “YB like-minded” are DH and DB.
The one server that is held back purely and exclusively by nightcapping and lack of off-hours players, which would otherwise do very well in the upper tiers is SF.
I wonder, if it would be possible to get another chart like this, along with a “kills” or “PPK” chart, but displaying results exclusively for NA prime time ? I bet we could learn or confirm/disconfirm a lot from that.
So this is just the point value of the captured thing rather than the actual points gained from it? If so, we have to consider that a server that’s facing low capping servers has less opportunity to cap things itself. Thus, someone crushing their opposition will fare poorly in this graph.
Also, the total PPT from all structures on a BL is 145. The total points from Yaks in one tick is ~205.
Thus, while nifty, I don’t think this metric is going to prove useful. Of course, maybe the point was just that it’s cool, in which case, ignore me…

When normalized and compared to the actual (or estimated) PPT score, it can show how efficient a server is in scoring. I’ve done these calculations for Tier 1 NA already. But the posted chart by itself simply shows how much work is done by a server. Which is useful in understanding activity. And yes, those tiers that more rapidly backcap each other will have higher activity levels. Those servers that cap little but score more, are holding objectives longer. They are either good at defending or facing unmotivated opposition.

sounds more like a karma training ranking than a ppting ranking
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
It’s k-training, and also fierce backcapping. Like, you still might be getting supply/hitting synthesizers and YB has 4 catas on whatever you’ve just capped.

Anytime someone mentions the score, this is bound to happen.
SBI would top the list if we didn’t have people wiping to guards.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
I still have unpleasant memories of being crushed under the YB hordes (when we weren’t farming them), but I’ve always respected how quickly they rebound from losing something. It’s hard for me to understand how one can lose a keep/tower then just log off or hop BLs.

log off or hop BLs? If we do that we lose our BL even quicker. Defense has always been a thing here and will always be.
And karma training isn’t possible without the help of a 2nd server capping constantly as well. Its like saying clapping with one hand only. So high PPT means capping AND holding stuff unless you’re including defense under karma training.

I totally agree! I wish I could convince people of that, though—there’s just no appetite for defense.
I would like to see this chart broken down a little more and have representation of the objective types(senty, tower, camp, keep, castle) that were captured
Darkhaven? wow, so much capping on a mid ranked server. What’s going on over there I wonder…

SF is up there too. My guess is they lack defenders and or players so they constantly have to back cap their stuff.
It could also be that they have their side on lock down and are constantly flipping other servers stuff to keep them off their side..

YB runs several havoc squads across all the maps and many of those squads feverishly backcap anything they can. They still zerg but aren’t nearly as unified as BG or JQ in that regard. Getting people into TS on YB is actually a full time chore for commanders.
Having been on a lot of servers, YB is probably the most fiercely independent one I have been on.

I think YB at the top was expected…
….. And Elementalist.
Proof that BG and JQ do doubleteam against YB! (can’t cap what hasn’t been taken) :P
