Sup,

I spend alot of effort trying to capture keeps wasting my siege so I can 2 man a wall then a group of players on our team come along and bath in our glory… but what I kittening hate about WvWvW is all the braindead kitten guilds that claim a keep then kitten off.

There needs to be some sort of way to fix this issue so guilds that are going to stick with the keep and build it up have the claim and not these braindead ones.

I system such as if a guild member is not active in that keep for 30 minutes after capturing then it becomes a neutral keep or something like that. Not active could mean no guild member is inside the keep for 30 mins or a guild member hasn’t started an upgrade for 30 mins since capture. Maybe extend the time. I just wish it was different.

I’ve seen this happen quite a bit, as well. The WvWvW system has many flaws at the moment. Having a three-minute window after capturing where the victors’ can nominate their guild for claiming might be a good idea. After the 3-minute window, the guild with the most support from its members (and has an officer of appropriate rank) claims the keep. This way it requires good representation from a guild to claim it (meaning they will hopefully honor their guild and defend it).

this is truth, we need a system to keep low influence guilds from claiming things like stonemist or other keeps that NEED bonuses from large guilds to help with defense.

when a guild that contains 10 people claims stonemist.. it is much harder to hold than when a guild with say, 500 maxed out people and 500k influence to spend claims it, and its absurd to say “first come first serve” because it just allows trolls to ruin the game for others.

i say that there be another form of way of ranking guilds, and if one guild has a higher “rank” by influence or whatever than another, then they can spend influence to take over that keep so they can help the map, not hinder it.

The way it works now, as I understand it:

The amount of people present at the location, relative to guild size, is the guild that has first dibs on claiming the keep. Although, I’m not sure what would happen if a guild had 500 players, 50 at the keep… when another guild has 10 players, with 5 at the keep.

I DO know that if the guild with the claiming rights doesn’t claim for (I think it’s 5 minutes) x amount of time, the location can be claimed by any guild.

I’d like to see some way for guilds with fort bonuses getting priority… it doesn’t really matter who claims it with regards to upgrades… but the guild really does need to be running fort buffs else it’s a bit of a waste

Sometimes this quote stuff don’t work. Anyway. Even tho it’s the most present at the time of kill it still doesn’t prevent them from capturing and running. Something in this system is flawed.. I can’t see what!!!!!!

/signed. I was asking the other day in Team chat where is that kitten guild with the pink bear emblem to upgrade the tower it has claimed! Never got an answer. I did all the upgrades by myself ofc, trying to defend it. Still after some hours that emblem was very frustrating to look at!
But this is happening all the kitten time. Guilds claim and then vanish! Very professional if you ask me! :P

The only mechanical purpose of claiming a guild is distributing it’s buffs to allies in its area. If there IS a guild playing WvWvW, I don’t want them mucking around in keeps for any amount of time. I want them moving in a group and making coordinated attacks.

I don’t particularly care who claims a location; anyone who wants to spend the money can still upgrade it. My beef is stuff like this morning, where we took Stonemist from HoD, some guild claimed it, and then didn’t apply any buffs. Zero response in team chat asking who claimed it, if they had buffs to activate, or anything else. Not surprisingly, we lost it half an hour later. If you don’t have something to offer as far as buffs, especially for an important location, why the hell would you claim it?

OP does not understand what claiming keeps is for. Most people don’t.

It doesn’t make upgrades cost less.

It doesn’t generate extra influence.

It does nothing at all for the guild that claims it.

There are only 2 reasons to claim a keep, and only one of them is the “right reason”.

Wrong reason: to display your banner.
Right reason: to apply guild fort buffs to the area.

If a guild applies for buffs, I don’t care if they never come back. They’re helping the team just by having the buffs running on something useful.

What SHOULD happen, though, is that a guild with no buffs running should lose their claim after about 10 minutes — or else let a guild with buffs overwrite one without.

Like i stated before, make it cost influence to hold a camp/keep/tower, the purpose of claiming is to apply buffs to the keep NOT to build the siege buy all the upgrades etc, thats for the pugs to do, the organized guilds are much better suited to continue on and take more stuff.

I don’t give a flying kitten if you take me seriously or not. You judgemental inbred. Also regarding the post, defending is probably a lot more crucial to the game at the moment than zerg attacking. A group of 10 can easily hold of the enemy zerg for 10 minutes with the right siege and with that time the allies can go out and do their thing while zerg is distracted. Claiming is for buffs I understand but if a group of defenders wanted to defend a keep they would most likely want to defend a keep with their guild emblem on. Even tho it’s again another cosmetic feature of the game it is still motivational. People too worked on mechanics than actual players it seems.

While I agree with some of the sentiment expressed here, I cannot help but notice some arrogance involved. Some guilds started GW2 already established with dozens, if not hundreds, of members from other games while others simply sent out random guild invites to everyone that crossed their path. All it takes for these big guilds to get the high level upgrades is for their members to log in. That’s it. Smaller guilds, on the other hand, have to grind content constantly to build up the influence needed to get the tier 3 and 4 upgrades. And i’m not talking the buffs themselves, which are only a couple of hundred Influence, I’m talking about the upgrades that cost 5-10k each.

Being in a big guild doesn’t make you special. You are literally being given those upgrades and WvW buffs just for logging in. What makes you think that you deserve the right to claim a location more than a guild that has to work their arses off for the same thing? Why should your guild have the right to claim a location five minutes after you go out to WvW more than a guild that has been out there for 10 hours?

That said, a guild with buffs should always be preferred to one without. But then again, it does absolutely no harm when a buffless guild claims some random tower on the other side of the map that the enemy is just going to take back in five minutes anyway… especially when the big guilds with all the buffs are doing stupid things like laying siege to Stonemist for 6 hours and ignoring the rest of the map.

Not sure if referencing to me or not. But I am in a far from big guild personally. My only issue is having a party willing to defend the keep and then our motivation to defend it being trashed because of another guild claiming it then fleeing off to do something on the other side of the map. Buffs or not, this isn’t stonemist castle this is a small tower and it’s just enjoyable to defend a tower with the guild’s label on. In the end we ditched that tower, it was taken back in 5 minutes by the enemy and we were hunting for our own tower. Those buffs really helped out there.

This issue seems polarized on which is more important for a claimed site: coordinated guild defense, or buffs for pug defense.

On the one hand if you believe that the coordinated defense of an area is most important then it makes sense to have some kind of timer set to guild claims such as mentioned earlier that only allows the claim to stay in effect as long as there are active guild members in the area to defend it.

On the other hand if you believe that buffs are more important to allow pugs to defend the area rather than the guild defending it themselves it makes more sense to have a system in place that gives priority to guilds with more buffs available.

I personally feel that the spirit of the claiming system was intended to be nearer the first option where a guild claims an area as their own, thus showing their banner, and they stick around to defend it. Therefore, I very much like the idea of some sort of timer requiring active guild members in the area.
