Not saying you were. When one bug is the only way to counter another bug, you can’t really fix one unless you fix both. Siege behind gates shouldn’t be able to, e.g., knock people off rams—at least not without damaging their own gate—but it does; as long as it does, I’m perfectly fine with attacks hitting through gates in the opposite direction.
To be honest, I suspect that the reason they haven’t fixed either is because of some technical limitation that they feel would be more costly to work through than it’s worth.
Like Dragons tooth before the ground target change, I think this is intentional. Same with terrain disruption.
I always asked myself if this is a bug or if it is meant to work this way. I also suspect it to be intentional.

“Intentional” in this case being how this type of AoE works on a code level and Anet not bothering to “fix” it.
No AoE should ever go through objects but you see thats pretty complicated math. Its easier to damage everything in the circle than calculate whether objects are blocked by terrain or statics. Its the same reason why cata/treb/cannon/etc damage go through doors or why arrowcarts can be placed out of sight. GW2 has an impressive and extensive missile system for an MMO otherwise but the impacts… not so much.
I would argue that they should fix all this instead of us arguing that one bug is required because other bugs exist (lol) but nah, it aint gonna happen. Instead, they can simply delete current CoR by changing the way the AoE works instead, we have plenty of ingame attacks that “shoot” AoE in front but is blocked by objects. And they could delete the lootstick while they are at it.

I might be wrong, but didnt they try to fix this before? When there was a bigger issue with hammer bolt and cor hitting through gates/walls? Honestly I wish they just changed CoR to not slide on the ground but rather travel through the air sort of like a beam, if anything that would make it much more reliable and solve a lot of these issues.

Actually, yes. Thats exactly what it would mean.
The attacks can be solved in other ways, for example ram knockback. You could change the attack to make the door unrepairable over 10s instead, giving door ramming an aspect similar to cata shielding.

There are several classes that have skills that go straight through a gate, fix one and you would have to fix them all.

Ya, BG never bunkers SM. Who do you think the pugs on mag learned bunking sm from? the “mighty” BG. Funny how a XVX guy is crying about the rev hammer through gates while building a cannon on inner keep on reset night. Next thing you know ele meteor showers will be nerfed so no one can take anything and we can all sit in keeps all day. This game is too much about sitting on siege all day and less about fights.

CoR hits 1,200 in range through gates because its not a projectile. It travels under the ground like an earth eruption by passing under the door. The same way a balistia or projectile can shoot through the upper crack of a door. The damage from CoR happens at your feet and because a door is a door there is no seal underneath.
I don’t see a problem with CoR hitting like it does. If they were to change it, I would want them to make all objects, damage and siege not being able to hit things through sealed doors. Because they can, and by mechanic of CoR, it’s working as intended.
Build gates through dirt… t4 gates/ immune+perma reflect. Okay maybe not.
I think many professions mechanics like this. Not directly like CoR, but guard’s broomstick sweeps through gates… pretty sure some of those necro marks get through too. While CoR is a longer range, it is narrow.
If I were to make a guess, i would assume Arc Divider also reaches through gates too.

Nope was running pretty much full glass on a Thief wearing marauders armor and Zerker weapons and trinks which put my health at just over 17k with the food I had at the time, I was one shot. I had never seen the attack hit that hard before but yeah it can hit that hard.

That is a physics bug rather than a DH one. All pulls can bug out and cause you to fly in the air. It is just DH is currently the most common pull in the game (and the best).

This. Jeknar beat me to it. If a DH lasso’s you, they can pull you right through that gate.
Seen some very strange uses of temporal curtain too. Some people are able to drop aoes in places my los never reaches…inner edge of a wall for example. It doesn’t happen often and you can usually identify exactly who’s doing it and avoid. I’ve been pulled up the stairs and to the edge from the other side of the wall though. Not sure if it’s something you can pull off with action camera or what.
Ive seen meteor showers set nearly halfway past the edge of the wall.
