I’ve always noticed the colors for the wvw matchups were:

1. seed: green
2. seed: blue
3. seed: red

I am aware that during season two they had a different system involving your tournament seed which ended a few weeks ago. I am looking at the wvw matchups now and it appears that the colors for each side are more or less random and not dependent on the servers rating. For example: last week was jq/tc/bg at #1, 2, 3 green/blue/red and even though tc won the matchup, bg is now green in the jq/tc/bg matchup. Has anet changed the color scheme without saying or am I missing something? Maybe they’re trying to better balance the eotm population of each side. I’m not able to tell.

The colours are semi-random based on the RNG roll that happen on reset to set the matchups.

Every week, RNG is used to tweak each server’s rating a bit. This gives a new ranking for each server. The matchups are set using this new ranking: 1 vs 2 vs 3, 4 vs 5 vs 6, etc. Colors are set from this as well: top seed = green, middle = blue, bottom = red.

So that would be why my lame server, Eredon Terrace is always red? Because it’s the worst server in NA?

Yes… The other servers have much more rating than ET, so in order for us getting another colour, we need to roll high, and one of the servers above need to roll low.

The good thing is that it still mathematically possible for ET to be another colour blue (don’t even think about green). We can’t say that about Underworld tho…
