So when I was running away from some enemies, i got a thief on me as first two line of the combat log shows. However, then I got hit with Unknown for 10k damage using backstab. The odd thing is that all enemies in the WvW are named as invaders so I’m not sure if this is some hack or bug.

What is more odd, is that after the death and me getting revived, I was stuck in the animation shown in the SS but using skills did put me out of it so not sure what that was about.

You might have gotten hit by a siege weapon. Animations get stuck all the time. My warrior often will get stuck with the heal animation. Hitting the heal skill again removes it. Just another of the many bugs.

I got stuck in Dagger Storm animation once. I put on my robe and wizard hat and Rpd that I was a ballerina.

Same here, got 4.471 damage “by Unknown” using Steal (!!!), and 7k+ damage using Backstab in WvW. Funny how all the other players are reported fine, but this one thief is “unknown”.

Unknown simply means they were in stealth when they hit you with whatever.

It’ll say the same for any other class in stealth via mesmer/thief buff.

In the first SS you can even see the target using Cloak and Dagger, which is our stealth attack skill. (If it hits, you get put into stealth)

Ashane is correct , hitting from stealth can and will give you an unknown tag as damage dealer

Steal is a no-damage skill. You can only do damage with it using a trait – so it still seems kind of overpowered.

Also, since we have Thief experts here – is it possible to take 10k+ damage on a 3800 armor set from Backstab?

Yeah learn the classes, but … It’s not Stealth, it’s INVISIBILITY !

Stealth is allways remove by damage in any game, invisibility not.
Stealth is allways giving buff make you less easy to see, invisibility make you totaly undetecting.

So, Mesmer and Thief are’nt using Stealth in GW2 but Invisibility.

Stealthing heal > Immobilize poison > Steal > Cloak and Dagger > Damage Signet > Backstab
Your stunbreaker reflexes have to be that of an interrupt ranger in GW to get out of that alive. Or tank gear….or any traits that make you immune to damage on X health.

Is everyone that blind ? The hacks are out there for sale now! Very easy to find google it because more and more players are jumping on the hack bandwagon .Look there many games out that are ruined now because of all the hacking . I can’t stand when fanboys play dumb and tell that you don’t know how to play. If you were such a good fanboy you would want to put a stop to this before it gets way out a hand or maybe your not and want people to think its all them. I’ve seen 4 other class stealth besides the thief how did they pull that one off? Maybe I sneezed well playing and its all in my head.

yep normal, thieves can hit like trucks especially with backstab invis spec, and LOL at the rabbit kill very nice

I don’t like when people just throw this around…was he REALLY speed hacking or was he just faster then you? Do you have any proof?

Last time people were accusing thieves of speed hacking was really just quickness…lol

Shadow Refuge: Create a pulsing refuge at the target area that heals allies and cloaks them in stealth.

Mass Invisibility: You and all allies gain stealth for a short time.

Veil: Create a wall that grants stealth to you and your allies.

This is unacceptable. There is no way an Ele should be able to hit for that much on a bunny. Nerf Eles.

I know speed hacking when I see it. I seen it many times.
They are totally out of sight in like 2 seconds.
WARP 10… Engage…

Its annoying, but oh well, nothing I can do about it.

Ok well one thing I will say is that based on how you just explained it, the thief using a backup shortbow can use the 5th ability 3 times consecutively to jump a long way away, basically use it three times in a row and it’s essentially three blinks allowing you to get away REALLY fast
