I was rather surprised just how much more fun wvsw has gotten with the removal of catapults.

Desert bl in particular has really shined with the inability to use proxy cats.

Keeps actually feel defendable, and you are driven to defend them. The attackers use up large amounts of supply from their otherwise overflowing reserves to build golemns. ANd we end up with epic keep sieges. This feel like golemn week (idk what that is since i was never around for it, but theres lots of golemns around now!!!).
And in turn upgrading and holding these t3 keeps feels like a real asset you wanna hang onto, especially with the higher pip values. IN turn, it makes taking these keeps even more of an accomplishment.

I had alot of fun defending our t3 air keep on TC desert bl from countless numbers of golemn rushes. Its not like its 1-sided or anything, they still get in and it then becomes a zerg busting fight. Gives alot more incentive for people to scout and stick around to care for objectives now, since you can respond to them alot easier and successfully disable. It also creates more need for shield gens, since you don’t have the catapult bubbles to rely on. It rewards smart siege placement more than ever.

Towers especially benefit from it on desert bl, I Could actually use the oil to clear rams and get a group off the tower on set for once (we double oiled them technically but you get the point).

I just think it should be considered, even if its just for desert bl for example. You can still make trebs and all this other stuff for when ur stuck.

Changes like this are worrisome, causse they could effectively make catapults really far away just as quick as proxy cats are. The current advantage of building far away is u have time to react to attacks and protect urself. Proxy cats on the other hand are about speed at the expense of defense (in a balanced matchups anyways).

It does give some value to the trebuchets, which were usually only used defensively or in extreme situations.

They temporarily disabled them because they were causing a server crash.

Catapults are responsible for a huge chunk of the problems with siege, so their removal does make the whole process feel better…but catapults are also the engine of choice for havoc since clearing gate guards can be problematic for solo/small-team groups.

I agree that it has become easier to defend, but it has also become harder to harass an enemy keep.

I want catas back asap, but I don’t miss proxy catas and the inexplicable shield bubbles.

They should just revert catapults to their pre-patch strength – it did not need updating. Power = range was fine.
Adding power = damage to cats doesn’t make sense unless you do the same for trebs and ballistas as well.
