Consumable Items in WvW
No idea why this is even allowed in WvW.

I bought some of these to see what they did after reading this thread, and because some random scrub killed me with…. something crazy, and I wanted to know if it was this item. Just sayin, if you use the throw ability on the gears, it will bounce between enemies and gives a 3~ second stun as well as decent damage. I hit people for 4k crits on upleveled glass cannons, 2.5k when they had good defense. You can spam these too, and stun lock a few people from 100% to dead and they cant do anything about it.
This item needs to be removed ASAP from WvW, it is far worse than golems in a box, which was already removed.

Hmm…. The consumables are fun, but I kinda wish they would remove them all from WvW. I would rather them remove all the consumables than only removing a handful. Either remove them all, or leave them all.
Anet, do you guys even pay attention to what you put into the game and how it actually effects other aspects?? Dumb question.
Crap. Knew I shouldn’t have used them too much. That scrub that killed you was probably me…since I’m the only one using them…
They’re hilariously overpowered though. Nothing is funnier than paralyzing 5 guys who tried to kill you in a 1v5 >>

Personally I think there should be seperate consumables for WvW. Fine if you still make them by crafting or whatever, but better to balance them for WvW and keep all those boosts that were intended for PvE in PvE.
When people cry, fun is nerfed/abolished. RIP Golems in a Box, you are missed dearly.
I don’t mind stat buffs very much. Some of them help to even out the fact that there are more enemies beating on you than anywhere else in the game like saffron bread (-20% dmg when stunned).

Honestly, I don’t think they need to be removed so much as given a longer cooldown. Perfect stunlocking multiple people for minutes is completely overpowered, even if you did spend something like 70 silver.
Give it like a ten second cooldown. Still very strong, but you can’t solo groups with impunity.
Honestly, I feel Golem in a Box should be re-allowed into WvW since it got nerfed with a very significant cooldown. The consumeables’ effects aren’t gamebreaking, it’s their spammability that is.

I had this happen to me earlier today in the EBG JP by some Jade Quarry thief. Unless you have stability to not get stun locked you WILL get destroyed by it 1v1 and even then you have to survive the ridiculous 4k crits it does every second.
If it was a human girl in T3 cultural armor that was me. I bought like 15 and spammed them on SOR people in the puzzle (they knocked me off after I got the chest earlier so I was camping them in the puzzle, I got like 30 or 40 kills to my 2 deaths too, so I felt good about it.)

This thing would need a 30sec+ CD, one person in a group of 5 using this can easily turn the battle if people don’t have stability, on top of that even with a CD you can have people time theirs so it stun locks. So you have people not winning because they are skilled players, but because they took a cheap way out instead of fighting.
Funny thing is the only server I’ve seen use it is SoR.

I didn’t get to play with the GiaB but would like to see stuff like that to add in something different.
I think they should just make them all unusable in wvw. Food, Sharpening Stones, etc aren’t really a problem, but the consumable bundle items, gemstore strength/armor boosters (I think these work in wvw), and additional stat boosting consumables need to go. The regular nourishment items are readily available on the TP or from crafting, but a lot of the consumable items are rather obscure. I only knew about the GiaB about 2 weeks before the update, and I’ve never seen the Gear mentioned in this thread.

Technically Golems could instantly kill a player – as it scaled with your power I had it doing more than a backstab if it crit, 2 in as quick a succession as they could be cast would kill nearly anyone but a tanky Warrior.
We had JQ Thieves abusing culling in EB Overlook earlier today using the Spikefruit, stun locking people as they tried to come out and get into the fight.

I, personally, only used them in The Quaggan Revolution (google video) run with siN. Fun item, and easy to counter in my opinion, but people don’t like to switch on their brains it seems.
They rather just stood there and swallowed it all.

It would be great to see all PvE cons evaluated, and a cooldown added to pie. Skale Venom is the most popular one with many players using it all the time…what else is there to say besides weakness is a sparingly used condition because it is very powerful 1v1 and in small group combat. Also, Skale Venom does not work with all weapons, so there’s not even a facade of an “everyone can use it, so it’s balanced” argument to be made.
I am saying this as a thief with 500+ omnomberry pies and skale venoms in my inventory too. It just gets old after awhile having to pump cons and knowing that they are a silly one up advantage. What would be great is if WvW had its own food recipes, maybe even a few consumable items too that are fun, but not over the top in effect.
Congrats you just increased the number of people who are going to troll with this item by a LOT.

Actually, making others aware of the problem, at the cost of informing a few more would-be abusers, is a pretty good way of getting the proper attention to it. Active/hot topics here will get the attention of multiple devs. Especially when the problem is easily fixed by making these things unusable in wvw.

I find the use of food in WvWvW lame. Personally I find players who use food buffs bad.

Only guardian, mesmer, and thief have reflects that are not linked to a certain weapon (or pet for a ranger). Guardian has a single utility, thief has a single elite, while mesmer two utilties and two traits that grant reflection to focus skills and Distortion. These three professions also have longer reflect durations available, compared to most others.
Several of the other professions’ reflects also require them to stand still. You might damage or deter the attacker from using any more gears/fruit/etc for the duration, but you are still going to be in the same spot when you defense is gone.
There are defenses against stunlocking consumables, but almost every one of them is underpowered compared to the consumable. Even with equipping every defense possible (honestly, who runs around wvw like this?), the consumable user still has the advantage.

I’ve been hit by spikeroot fruit in WvW which does a knockdown. There is no cooldown and I can get pinned forever until killed by it.

Yup. And that difference is “cooldowns”. Novel concept, isn’t it? Good things break the game when you can use them as much as you want.
Just give all of the consumeable bundle weapons cooldowns and you are set. Better yet, make it a global cooldown across all items like that. That way people can’t cheese it by using multiple types of consumeable bundles.

Plenty of otherss out there.
I think a lot of these weapons are intentional for WvW use mainly because a lot of the stronger environmental weapons (such as depleted crystals) cannot be used inside WvW but others (such as gears) can.
This leads me to think that the developers decided what was balanced in WvW use and what was not.
Either that or the developers are lazy… you decide.
