Contesting Keeps
from my pov is working ok, i’m a roamer/scout and if a commander is moving to cap a keep i go and contest anything that helps delaying reinforcements. if in a BL, the defender has bay/hills and waypoint in garrison, i go and keep it contested… if not, i contest a tower one of their north towers on the other side of the map.
all is fair in e-wars, except hacking.
I understand what you are saying. I have a feeling this contesting thing is not working as intended right now but i guess its least of Anet’s problems. Its not as much as the white cross swords that divert the attention of people that i believe is not working correctly. That itself is working as intended i think. But what i am speaking of is the contested waypoint in the keep. I have seen this happen many times having a thief or a d/d ele just run past the guards, hit the gate to contest the waypoint and leaves completely unharmed. I don’t believe an entire keep to just suddenly go into lockdown because an enemy decides to throw a stone at the gate.
So yes i do feel that a good number of people should be required to contest the waypoint in any keep or castle and as i said…. it is probably not on Anet’s list of priority fix. Maybe it is difficult to make a separate mechanism for both waypoint and cross swords to take affect in different situations. Anyways cheers for bringing this up.

Keeps only contest if you do damage to a gate or wall, thieves cant do damage to walls.
(cloak and daggering walls doesnt contest things)

I can maintain about 3 or 4 objectives contested at once in EB. And I do when I’m bored. Do I think it’s a good mechanic? Nope. Do others take advantage of it? Yup. So until it’s not a thing, I’m going to do it.
