Check yourself again, there is such a thing as a perma stealth thief (unless they removed the smoke + HS combo). In the case of mentioned combo, they remain perma stealth, as in no swirly black animation. There is also another combo I believe (could be wrong) but I do not know what that is at the moment.

Yes this does leave a smoke AoE on the ground and if you happen to be lucky enough to spot the spot where this is occuring (in a place like Bay this is difficult) then you either have to hunt him down. Or corpse camp the dead mesmers in your keep.

Anet has already mentioned that corpse camping should not exist in the game, and is taking measures to remove it because this does happen.

EDIT: and as a matter of fact, I have been on the receiving end of this rez as a necro. My body was in the middle of the BG garrison lord room and ONE THIEF had rezed me to about half with about 10-15 BG camping/AoEing around my body. It is ridiculous.

It’s so easy to interrupt. Cast a daze/stun spell right over the corpse and procede to pound the area with attacks til you kill the thief. Eventually they will have to run out of thieves inside the keep, barring exploits, which a mesmer could just use rather than wasting time with a corpse camp.

probably if the lord of the keep, tower, castle, camp, would have some kind of detection, they would be more useful too and we wouldnt need to worry about someone hiding inside like this or even with stealth-rendering, like the things which increasey supply capacity in sc2, zerg race.

Only takes one player…. Just have a S/D thief camp there and and prevent rezz.

You can’t prevent the res. You can’t kill the thief fast enough for him to go invis again and regen to full.

It will take at least 5 players and still the only way is to stun lock or MOA him.

I’ve transferred off of 2 different T1 servers so far mostly because it’s too hard to find anyone any good at 1v1 there. Everyone gets soft with all the zergs. In my experience so far, T3-T5 is the “sweet spot”. Enough population that zones aren’t just absolutely dead, but still enough people good enough to run solo around to fight.

That’s not the problem. Long duration stealth is currently possible by spamming C&D on a wall piece as it does not always apply “revealed” as it should.

That is a bug I’m sure and will hopefully be dealt with soon, but even that still leaves the stealth animation. They have to use the CnD at least every 4 seconds so it’s not that hard to spot. Corpses being auto-released after 5 minutes or so would be best in every situation. Not only would it stop corpse scouting and major zergs being able to resurrect everyone after a fight, it will also stop this sort of thief/Mesmer portal relationship.

You don’t get it, you don’t have to every 4 secs. You spam it and stack 12 secs of stealth. Then repeat once it’s about to drop. Since revealed isn’t applied the only limiting factors to how long you can stack stealth for is initiative and the hard cap on stealth duration.

I would ask you to reread my post.

First, I stated that permanent stealth is possible via different combos and methods. That was merely an example of one as a rebuttal to your “there is no such thing as a perma stealth thief”.

Second, I already said Anet was fixing it because it is a problem and they recognize that.

Third, please more be insulting next time. It really helps.

I don’t feel like I’ve insulted anyone. I’m simply saying that thieves are not the hideous OP monsters that this forum makes them out to be. Anet themselves mentioned that the only problem with stealth is newer players not knowing how to deal with it. This thread isn’t about thieves though, is it? The OP was upset that someone, just happens to be a thief, resurrected a Mesmer that used portal to take a keep. Therein lies the issue. Not stealth, not thieves, not portal or mesmers, but the fact that corpses can just sit there for hours. People have complained about corpse scouts since the beginning and it’s already been said that it’s being looked into. That’s the answer to your problem, and to this thread.

Well, either my reading comprehension has dissolved right before reading this thread or you are just simply not worth debating. I will go with the second one as it seems the more likely scenario.

The problem will be minimized soon, but corpse camping will probably still have to happen due to the stealth mechanic. This is especially true if there are multiple thieves in the keep all perma stealthed.

This is true. Dead players should not be resurrectable while in combat. Revives, of course are fine in combat, but once someone is dead they should remain so until combat is over.

I have to say, though the above quote is true….

Checking your keep is pretty much the MOST boring part of WvW, while the only benifit being that it can make taking a keep way too easy. Boring game play is boring.

I’d really rather it not be a part of the game.

actually there is a way to stay forever in corpse mode. Normally it tell you that the client will kick you out unless you go active, but there are ways(not glitches) to make you “active” without rezing

Actually, I can perma stealth, and so do all thieves. The point is that they shoud have noticed a dead body inside the keep being ressed.

Do you mind explaining this a little? I mean what do you spam to stack 12 sec of stealth? Cause if it’s C&D and the second hit doesn’t trigger revealed, it’s obviously a bug and in given situation an exploit, however are you 100% sure about that stuff? I’ve been playing thief myself for sometime and I’m just curious how it’s even possible. Do you really hit the wall to achieve stacked invis? In normal circumstances 2nd succesful C&D always gives revealed debuff. Or there is some other way.. I know about HS permastealth, but I don’t think this is a case here.
