Ever wanted to know how strong your server is in a specific timezone compare to the other servers? Well, now you can!

http://coveragewars2.com is a WvW fan website. It currently features :

- Server Strength by Timezone
- Prediction for next match ups

The website is still under development. Planning to use this thread to post the lastest updates. Also, if you have feature suggestions write them down in this thread I might try to do them if I have time.

It seems the javascript doesn’t work on safari mobile too. Will have to check it up.

EDIT : Something is making one of the script crash. Might be the cookies…

What you see is the data for the current week but the rating is persisted across all the weeks. Ok I don’t have any clear way to explain it in 1 sentence so here is an example.

Example 1 : Data for the week

Glicko rating from 1 to 4 UTC at the start of the week

Server A : 1500
Server B : 1500
Server C : 1500

Friday from 1 to 4 UTC (NA prime)

Server A got 3000 points : total 3000 points
Server B got 2000 points : total 2000 points
Server C got 2000 points : total 2000 points

Rating you will see at 4 UTC for 1 to 4 UTC period (NA prime)

Server A : 1600
Server B : 1450
Server C :1450

Saturday from 1 to 4 UTC (NA Prime)

Server A got 1000 points : total 4000 points
Server B got 4000 points : total 6000 points
Server C got 2000 points : total 4000 points

Rating you will see on Saturday 4 UTC for the 1 to 4 UTC period (NA Prime)

Server A : 1450
Server B : 1600
Server C : 1450

So, it accumulates the score in each timezone during the week then it calculates the glicko rating based on the total.

Example 2 – Rating are carried to the next week

Rating at the start of week 1

1 to 4 UTC 4 to 7 UTC

Server A : 1500 Server A : 1500
Server B : 1500 Server B : 1500
Server C : 1500 Server C : 1500

Rating at the end of week 1

1 to 4 UTC 4 to 7 UTC

Server A : 1600 Server A : 1450
Server B :1450 Server B : 1600
Server C :1450 Server C :1450

Rating at the start of week 2

1 to 4 UTC 4 to 7 UTC

Server A : 1600 Server A : 1450
Server B :1450 Server B : 1600
Server C :1450 Server C :1450

So, the rating that you currently see for NA are the combination of the rating each server had last week for each timezone + how well each server is doing in the current match up.

I never seems to find the right word to explain it correctly… Just hope it’s clear :P

That helps tyvm ! I am not sure how you could explain either except by including the date range? Not sure when your ratings started, but that could help explain (unless somehow I missed that). If users could pick a date range boy oh boy…

I just fixed 2 different bugs in the javascript that affected all browsers except google chrome.

So, EU should work on all browsers now

So.. If I understand correctly, you are trying to simulate the ratings depending only in the points each server get in a particular interval, but what was your starting point where you decided to start to calculate the ratings separately?

When I initialize the servers, I give them the rating that they currently have (https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/eu/wvw) and I apply that to every timezone. Then I start to calculate the score that each server get in each zone and you get the new ratings.

For Europe, it started to calculate the rating last week on Wednesday so it only took t he score from Wednesday to Friday to calculate the new ratings. It will take a few weeks for the ratings to stabilize and show the real strength of each server in each timezone.

Note : Initialization happen only 1 time. For Europe it was last week, for NA it was 5 weeks ago I think.

- Changing position of mouse over pop up (so the objective on the right side have visible mouse over on small screen)

Server just ran out of memory again… Second time this month.

Going to upgrade the server plan as I’m getting close to the bandwidth quota anyway :S

Yes, it’s going to be one of 3 sections that are already planned. I already saved all the data of the previous week in the database so we got nearly 2 months of historical data. Just need to find the time to build the UI for it.

I’m working on a graph for the timezone section. Here’s what I got so far but I’m a bit stuck on the design side. Any suggestion to make it better?

Well, there is also the problem that there is only 3 different colors for the line currently so it’s hard to guess to which server a particular red line belong. I thought about putting a different color for every server but then it takes a very long time to manually match each server to each color and to see which lines (servers) are in a match up together…

Naw it would make it too busy. The way you have it set up is via tiers, so it’s easy to differentiate one red from another red.

On a combined all-server graph, you might want different colours. But as it stands, and the way you have it laid out, looks fine — just need lines a bit thicker so easier to trace.

At least that’s how I see it.

Oh ok, you think it would be better if it was split by tier. It is currently an all server graph (even if it doesn’t look like it…)

If I transform it into a one graph per tier, one thing that I worry about is that for some tier the server ratings are very close together while on others that are very far. So for example, the range between the highest rating and lowest rating in tier1 could be 100 ratings while on tier 8 it would be 600 ratings. Since each graph would have the same height, you won’t be able to easily compare the graph from one tier with the graph of another.

This website is great – would it be possible to post historical data for the ratings/PPT, similar to what millenium has but with the coverage breakdown?

I have been busy lately in real life so I didn’t have the time to do much on site in the last weeks… Still, I have a few things that I’m working on or planning to :

- Graph for timezone rating to make it easier to visualize (this one is nearly done)
- Graph for prediction
- Graph for timezone history (as requested by Baron Oakley)
- K/D by timezone is interesting too so I will add that to my list.
- Fixing bug in live map RI timer for those that their computer doesn’t have the same time as the rest of the world…

But the most pressing one is probably to prepare the new live map for the expansion :S

Currently PPT and objectives on the main page http://coveragewars2.com only seem to show only EB.

Competitive PPT is completely dead when most of it comes from 3 maps that nearly no one plays on…
