Critical (Precision) vs Siege, Gates, etc.
Yep. That’s a trade off. You can’t be a jack of all trades and also a master of them all.
The problem with allow to crit on gates would allow other builds to hit gates much harder and wouldn’t balance it out. While you have enough precision to crit often, you don’t have the 100%+ crit damage other builds have.
It does suck, its one of the reasons I do not run condi builds with the zerg.

I am not asking for that. Precision and Power are balanced in a way you can do similar damage having full precision or full power (or double damage having both but the balance here is being a glass cannon) but this only works versus players, npcs, etc, versus siege is unbalanced.

As I said above, there are a balance to the people having both Power and Precision, they are glass cannons. About being forced to play Power builds (not playing conditions build just for this reason) is a big problem, bigger than criticals hitting gates.

I don’t think so, most people on WvW use Soldier items, that means they only have Power and will be doing very similar damage, maybe a small additional percentage. Only the “glass cannons” players will be doing double damage, that’s OK to me, because being one is a big risk in WvW (that’s what I call balance). Also, the siege/gates HP could be balanced too. Additionally to this, 90% of the damage is done by rams, not players (in a zerg) so here is not so important how hard a player hits, the critical would be very helpful when soloing or in small teams, when you are running out there and want to solo kill a treb, for example, if you have no Power, you will need double time to kill it, or killing the siege after you cap a tower, or killing rams when defending, etc. without Power takes forever to kill a single ram.

Technically you can. My guardian has the trait that gives might on crit, I use doors to help stack might. Crit damage may not apply though as I don’t see much of a damage increase untill I get my might stacks pretty high.

That’s not true. Most front line players run Soldier, not all classes run that tanky and are still not glass cannon. A lot of players still stack high crit damage and crit. Also just by making this change players with change there gear to make better use of this. It would only change the meta to more PvD.

I think logically it doesn’t make sense. A critical hit is supposed to be the equivalent of hitting an enemy in their weak spot. It doesn’t really make sense that a gate would have a “weak spot” like a living thing does.
As far as game balance goes weapon attacks are not really the intended way to take a gate down. I suggest you get siege might and be one of the guys on the rams.

That will reveals the attack to enemy (orange swords).

Your post has sense, but doors have weak spots, at least the ones in real life.
Only bad players think they need to run full ptv gear in wvw zergs.

That means I am not a bad player. First sentence of this thread confirm it.
Hahaha!

You’re thinking to situational. Some times you want orange swords to pull people off other objectives. Some times your only there for supply damage and orange swords are a non factor. Honestly I don’t think there should be any buff to players to doors. As for other siege like cannons and oil, I’m indifferent. I feel you on how much it sucks to be a condi necro and not be able to do anything worth while to cannons. As for the sPvP comment, they can do what ever, the changes in sPvP don’t have to effect WvW.

Allowing critical damage when I solo kill a ram, or solo kill a cannon would be a start, and will be welcome by most players. My point is not unbalance, but the opposite. Giving Precision players the same damage to siege is balance to me.
BTW, talking about balance, I have another idea, make a fixed damage to siege/gates, so everyone will hit exactly the same damage whatever the stats or weapon.

Having a fix damage amount is a better idea (though I doubt they would ever implement such a thing) As far as balance, it doesn’t exist in WvW and said so by devs, it was never meant to be balanced. They have to be careful when changing things that will buff players as it will buff large groups even more. (same issue/discussion on the new bloodlust addition to WvW).
