Excuse me for my ignorance, but what is the point of cross server communication that enhances the game experience?
In a WVW setting it only seems to hinder it with people spying on other servers and for children to send me hate messages because they are very upset for me killing them in wvw.
what is everyone else’s thoughts on cross server communication in a wvw setting, is it really necessary, does it really enhance the experience?
I think its okay. Its how DH started the fight club.
Voice communication is much easier to use anyway, so I doubt deleting the inter-server communication will effect spying much. As we all know in the past cross server communication and organized duels in games like Warhammer, LOTRO Monster PvP, and DAoC, were very much frowned upon, but in those games kills gave points (RP’s). In GW2 there isn’t much to gain from killing people over and over… so inter-server communication is just a convenience I guess.
I think Anet is looking at its GW2 community as a whole community, rather than individual server communities. Everything they do points to this philosophy, although they don’t advertise it. They encourage inter-server communication and server transfers. They don’t host individual server forums. Overflows combine servers, guilds are cross server, etc. This is a unique philosophy from past PvP MMO’s, and one I am still getting used to myself.
