For whatever reason my server (isles of Janthir) has been getting completely and utterly destroyed on WvW at the hands of EB and DR. It honestly is not even that fun because the other servers greatly outnumber us. Will there be server switches to put the weaker servers vs the weaker servers and stronger vs stronger? When can we expect an update for this?
I think there are quite a few tiers that have the issue that we are having tbh. I think one thing Anet should do is color code the populations at the server selection screen so when looking at a high pop server you can tell that the population falls between X and Y or C and D and so on. there are like 8 servers listed as “high” population, but I’m not seeing much match up shifting happening which makes me think that there are still pretty large population differences between the servers marked as “high”
DR and Ioj are both listed as High, but if one of us went down to T8 and fought the 3rd and 2nd place servers there, who is also listed as “high” pop we would both feel like Ebay does against us.
I bet if we had a better idea of what servers populations were sitting around tiers and matches may make a little more sense.
When Ebay moves up, another server with similar population comes down. IOJ is going to need to sink another tier to really get out of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd type of stalemate we are currently in/ at … whatever tier we are in atm. 5?

The problem IoJ and DR are facing is this:
If you assume for a moment that server ratings are a reasonably accurate measure of server strength (and yes, I know that this assumption is debatable), there are 13 servers with a rating of 1500 or higher that we can consider ‘stronger’ than IoJ or DR. IoJ and DR are going to come out of this past week’s match with ratings in the 1300’s. All of the other servers are below 1300.
Because the matches are all 3-way, this means that 12 of the 13 higher-rated servers are going to play each other (4 matches of 3 servers each), and whichever one is left over is going to play IoJ and DR. The only way for IoJ and DR to avoid this is for people to leave one of the 13 higher-rated servers, so that they fall below IoJ and DR in the ratings. At that point, IoJ and DR will hold the top two spots in the below-1500 bracket, and they’ll get a better matchup.
One of the shortcomings of the current rating system is that there is little that IoJ or DR can do to influence this outcome (unless they do something to become much stronger) — they will only get ‘good’ matchups if some other server in the top 13 has a meltdown.
Their other choice is to deliberately play far below their strength, so that they fall in the ratings and get matched up against servers with ratings of 1200 or lower.
