I don’t mind the changes but i think anet needs to remember they introduced ascended gear and swapping builds just isn’t as easy anymore. once they add ascended armor they really need to think about how to allow us to switch stats on our ascended gear when they break a build.
You bring out good point with ascended gear.
I have my 5 gear sets for my main character. I don’t even have ONE full ascended trinket set and 0 ascended weapons this far.
It makes me sad since in WvW ascended stats do matter, alot.
Now that they introduced this ascended stuff it takes very long time to get even one gear set for one character so it becomes just a gold farming race to be honest if you want to stay at least nearly competitive.
In my opinion problem there is too high cost and time gating.
right they break a build or nerf a weapon so that it is useless for my exotic stuff its no big deal I have the gold to buy a whole new set no problem. I might have preffered to spend the gold on something else but Its well within the reach of most people. If they do it to a build after they introduce ascended armor it will be what a month or 2 to fully gear up a new build? It’s a problem they really need to address.
I completely agree, i’ve said the same thing before when Devon came out and responded to a thread that asked to remove Asc. from WvW. Where Devon said they dont want to “invalidate players time spend”.
Said it then, and you said it now. They invalidate players time spend all the time. By buffing or nerfing professions they can completely invalidate a lot of time and effort spend on gearing for that build.
So I have a simple question, will my total swiftness uptime be improved or made worse ?
Worse by up to 50%, unless you stand still waiting for the pulses. Its another Anet nerf.
This skill is very powerful in SPVP for your team, that’s why you nerf it. WvW should not be affected with this change, guardian already lack of speed in comparison to other class.
Its not that powerful in sPvP and why not just make the change sPvP only? Why hurt WvW/PvE?
Guardians DON’T have a lack of speed, the skill is used to help out other classes move faster, like Mesmers for example…
If a list of most used skills was compiled in WvW, staff 3 Symbol of Swiftness would probably be no 1 most used skill by a distance…so HUGE nerf.

Wont this make it more powerful in spvp where standing in circles is part of the game play? You are far more likely to stack up more swiftness then you could have originally in spvp.
Guardians do have a lack of speed and mobility in many builds. The only class that is more likely to get caught than my guardian in a long kite is a necro.
In WvW where you are moving all the time, specially when you might need swiftness it is a huge nerf. As far as I know SoS is the only swiftness in the game that can also put/keep you in combat, is 4s of swiftness worth the risk of not getting out of combat sooner or putting yourself in combat?

yay new balance for things we don’t care, so you force us to change to something you wanted us to do/use….
Warrior Hammer nerf , noobs cant dodge so you nerf it… T1 EU alrdy perfected to Blast Blind + Aegis to get away with Hammerstun Train, if you cant do this then no need to bring the game to the lower levels of the players, make them improve -.-
I guess alot of kittens cryed about about Mace/GS Warriors cuz they wanted to run with no defence and no stun breakers .
But ye, we are used to you focusing on mass of players who don’t want to try and learn the game, also known as “Casuals”.
If you got time look at what hapened to Dota 2 few days ago Anet, the whole “/(o_o)/ GIVE DIRETIDE” thing came because Valve did NOT listen to the community as always, and you are going their path as i can see…

it would be nice if jonathan sharp would address it here. It is a fixable problem but the first step to fixing it is to recognize it exists. once it takes 2 or 3 months to fully gear up and they then break a build they will have a huge amount of player anger to deal with .

Only nerf for Thief. If you want limit the Permastealth spam you dont need to ruin all class game. Do you want nerf evade? Nice, so increase armor. Thief are paper class, if you nerf the movement\evade he cant do nothing.
Can you explain me why you waste a trait with Quick Recovery? I think change it is better, 1 iniziative every 10 seconds it’s useless.
Unlikely that you will get an official response on this. It seems to be a very touchy subject arenanet tends to avoid after a big backlash they got when they anounced Ascended gear would be flat out numerically superior to exotic.
Personally im boycotting ascended gear now. I’ll play untill i find that i can no longer keep up, and then i’ll quit.
Which will probably happen sometime between everyone getting their ascended armor and arenanet anounced the next gear tier that is going to replace ascended. Altough they kinda already teased that new tier.
The biggest deal breaker for me is the fact i spend money on skins, and a new gear tier basicly forces me to spend money again just to keep using the skins i already payed for once.
But i also have zero faith in arenanet when it comes to profession balance, and they have a history of mucking about and just breaking entire builds that were by no means unbalanced, some even weak to begin with.
While the truely overpowered builds are often left to their rampage for months at a time.
And kittening up profession balance funnily enough leads to the same concern as new gear tiers.
You are forced to regrind new gear, but hey, what about the looks you got on your original set?
Guess you’ll have to spend money yet again to use these skins in your new build.

Perma anything is bad. Perma stealth, perma evade, perma stun. Glad they are removing those broken mechanics.

I think the change to Guardian staff skill that gives swiftness is a good idea. Hopefully, it will cut down on the speed of Zergs. They won’t get as much speed from it by just running through it will they?
I’d rather them just nerf swiftness for zergs straight up but if this helps then good.
Oh and add to the Dec. patch to revert the immobilization change. It shouldn’t stack so many times.

i agree almost everything there but to move the flanking trikes to master is just too much, 1. its hard for you to catch your enemy on the side or back once your spotted. 2. most builds are toughness vit nowadays. you aint doind didly squat to gaurdians, wars and mes, engis necros. 3 all traits below that is utter useless.
seriously anet where do you even come up with these ideas?

There are plenty of changes I love about the class I play most. Thief perma stealth build needed to be killed. It promoted terrible play.
There are also changes I do not agree with. Mostly vigor uptime. 50% reduction is farrr too much. If you feel the need to nerf it, 25% should be the max. I personally don’t feel it needs a change at all since evades are the only way a thief can mitigate dmg directly. Stealth only makes it less likely a player will dmg, but does not mitigate any dmg. But still 50% is huge, and makes it so the first tier in acrobatics is pretty worthless for many specs.
