Commander Solo here, from DH, GoF guild.

I’ve been reading through this thread since Friday, and it really saddens me to see all the flaming, the anger, and the resentment that’s built up. A few nights ago I was talking to my guild leads about how Darkhaven and Dragonbrand would make a perfect 24/7 coverage WvW server. And I still think if we joined in one server, DH’s NA and DB’s Asian/Oceanic would make a great server.

Please try to treat each other with respect. We can be enemies, and fight each other, but it’s still a game, and it’s still respectful to show sportsmanship.

I’m on DB and I was just thinking the same thing today.

yes it would make a perfect coverage server, but that would probly never happen. not from bad blood, its all forum kitten, i mean from who would switch server’s?

Even though DH has lost some good guilds after our but whoppin in T4, we talk about it kind of jokingly, but i dont think RE would leave DH, I cant speak for GoF, SE, or WE, or even HOT. And Im sure guilds in DB are good where their at as well.

We could always gather the guilds from both DH and DB willing to team up, and drop down to a low tier server. Leaving both DH and DB.

Yes DB does have a PvD time, its when American players are asleep, their server is not a US Server it is carried by its Asian presence, we all know it. You can be a nice guy if you want but I tell it like it is.

If it wasnt for them, DB would be lucky to get past 50k the whole week.

Yes DH does have a PvD time, its when Asian players are asleep, their server is not a Foreign Server it is carried by its NA presence, we all know it. You can be a nice guy if you want but I tell it like it is.

If it wasnt for them, DH would be lucky to get past 50k the whole week.

The point is that WvW is a 24 hour game. DH is stronger at one time than DB is and DB is stronger for a longer period of time. It makes DB a stronger overall server and that is causing the win in points. You need to quit raging on DBs nightime/early morning presence because you have the same advantages every evening. What makes your primetime any better than DB’s?

You may have a point except for the fact that I watched them close a 10000 point gap the other night in less than 2 hours. No other server can do that.

The only way that happens is if there is no opposition. Or not enough to make a single bit of difference.

That post I quoted wins this thread. The simplicity of it…it’s so innocent…yet it proves everything DB and NSP have said in this thread(about double teaming), have been complete lies

I have been attacking., I never see the red. i always see dragonbrand. this is my second day playing and havent seen NSP once.

They need to change the title of this thread to whaaa double team whaaa PvDoor. That’s all I hear anymore. It used to be pretty annoying, but now we all just openly laugh and joke about it because we realize how absurd it is as there’s very little truth to it. Hey, if ya can’t get people to understand it, might as well get a good laugh about it and have fun with it. NSP, I’m going to miss you guys next week. Hope you do well down there and come back to see us soon. I think we’ll all have our hands full as all three of our servers will be facing servers that have jumped up three notches. Their scores over their competing servers have been blowouts. Things are about to get very interesting or very boring. At least we’ll be able to put one of the problems of this thread behind us and that would be the conspiracy of double teaming.

That was a fun fight tonight in EB betwen DH and DB. DH held Golanta for over an hour and nearly had Klovan walls down a few tmes. Both sides were putting up so much siege during that fight. Good work Dragonbrand, everyone contributed to building siege at both Jerrifer and Klovan to counter their siege, we had people run supply from the keep to the walls at Klovan, had NSP come in and take out our only supply to the keep as well as harrassing DH at durios and bravost. Also that golem assault on SM from NSP was intense. I seriously didnt think our reinforcements were going to make it to the lords room in time. We almost lost SM with full upgrades and nearly 2800 supply. I am going to miss battling both NSP and DH. Kind of sucks that we couldn’t place any siege later in the night, dpsing reinforced gates is not much fun. Anet please fix this.

Portals are fun. DB you got to work on your mesmer sweeping skills. Good fights tonight.

To that 3 lowbie mesmers from Rakk guild who were camping EB JP entrance omg that was hilarious! After carefully watching what happened there it turned out there weren’t just 1 lowbie mesmer but 2, and after slowing it down more, there were 3 who look exactly the same, and have same guild too.

Too funny! Makes me wanna make a mesmer lookalike group as well, haha.

There’s a max of 695 points to split. They take a tally every 15 minutes, so a max of 2780 points can be earned in an hour, or 5560 points in 2 hours if you hold everything on every map.

I was wondering if Anet could do something on the server level. Make the lowest 3 servers into one when you enter WvW. So we’d become Darkbrand or Dragonhaven automatically without switching servers.

That’s not how points work. Otherwise in a week you would have 695×4×24x7= 467,040 total points in a week. Last week ended at 221,295 to 205,897 to 172,748 for a grand total of 599,940 points scored. In the T3 matchup last week, a total of 622,982 points were scored, or about 33% more than the theoretical maximum from score tallies alone (theoretical because there are moments where scores aren’t tallied, such as before and during reset on Fridays).

While I’m not certain on the details, things like killing yaks and other such actions score points as well. So yes, it’s possible to score more than 5,560 in 2 hours.

Wow, this is the first time I have checked forums-and it was due to shouting about this topic on the WvW map. Since the accusations have flown, alot of DB have taken to playing against NSP and DH in a more convenient time for them.

We apologize for not asking what time you would prefer us to attack you before hand.

Yeah, as I said, I’ve never seen exactly what gains points like that, but if you watch the score closely, you’ll see it jump up by just a couple points here and there, instead of just when the 15 minute score tally comes through. I’m fairly certain that things like killing of yaks give points though.

If anyone has seen the actual specifics spelled out anywhere, or happens to know themselves, please share and we can hopefully update the wiki with those details. There’s speculation on the talk page that the distance a yak has traveled determines the number of points awarded.

Just wanted to say I wouldnt be opposed to this idea. I am only part of a very small guild, but I have a lot of respect for many DB players. Wouldnt mind fighting together for the same objective.

Most of the guilds in DB that have been here since launch have no inclination to leave, and that includes a huge part of our night time presence. We’ve stuck it out this far and now that we are having good close fights, why would we want to screw the tier balance up again by dropping down to a lower one?

Ahahaha im pretty sure solo was just hypothetically speaking how cool it would be if all 3 servers where merged into one.

Mass server transfers is how “Tier 1” servers were created, and it’s also what threw the whole ranking system into turmoil. Though it might be cool to build the ultimate WvW server, I don’t think that’s an idea that any of us want to entertain at this point.

Those of us on this forum who respect our opponents (surprisingly, the majority of us) need to learn to ignore some of the more disgraceful comments in these threads. Having fun in WvW and then coming here to communicate with eachother is great, except when unnecessary trash-talk gets in the way.

I look forward to facing DH again next week, and NSP again when they bounce back up to tier 5 (which is sure to happen). From looking at scores throughout the week it seems like Borlis Pass may have a decent off-peak presence, so this next T5 match should be pretty interesting.

NSP are some tough motha truckers and i’ve enjoyed my skirmishes with them, my old DAoC guild is there. DH is pretty fierce too during their prime-time and always forces us to step our game up. Enjoyed our match-up for the last 3 weeks.

I for one must say I have enjoyed the past 3 weeks immensely, both Darkhaven and Dragonbrand are tough and worthy opponents. Our WvW population on NSP may not be large but we fight hard and DH and DB gave us intense fights day after day. It’s a shame that we will be dropping down to Tier 6(looks that way at least) but I wish both of you luck in your next match-up and I hope that we will be back up and may meet you guys on the battlefield again in the future. May the last few days of our match-up be fun filled and full of glorious battles.

From what I’ve discussed with solo it was just a hypothetical situation on if the 24 hour coverage of Darkhaven + Dragonbrand were to happen.

Just to clarify any confusion, GoF has no intentions on moving away from Darkhaven. We’ve been on Darkhaven since launch and would hate to leave our Home. Everyone is going to have a tough lineup every once in a while, as is the wonderful dynamics of WvW, but sticking with your server and fighting for it is what makes it home.

Had fun today trying to defend Bay in our (DB) BL from DH (epp? guild). I swear I hit one guardian 8 times with a canon only to see his health only drop to 75%. Arrow carts seemed to have no effect on anyone. Great coordination and support of each other. I really like the prolonged battles no matter how they turn out.

yeh that was fun, started small and you guys kept on going and going, very persistent! prolonged small battles are always more fun great job to both sides

Hypothetically or not, I am personally for the idea. Obviously not everyone will be. However, I have zero loyalty to any arbitrary server and all the loyalty in the world to those I play with. I would venture to say most are the same. Even with all the fabricated “server loyalty” in existence, most are likely to switch servers without a second thought if the people they actively play with move.

I am not personally looking for an “ultimate” server or any of that nonsense either. I never want to be on a server that is T3+. Though, I would certainly enjoy having a decent server, with great people and players, that can cover 24 hrs out of the day. If achieving that goal requires me to move servers, thats an easy choice as I only have loyalty to those I play with and not some name assigned to a computer.

If people are interested, they are interested. If not, I will just continue playing and enjoying the game as I have been. My guild has been talking about transferring servers anyway.

So, I gave up on actually attempting to help, and we are just looking for a server with a good base and foundation to build off of. I dont believe specifically what we are looking for exists currently though. I havent seen anyone give ideas for long term goals, “training camps” for new players that might be intimidated otherwise, encouraging more wvw participation, contests, etc.

I don’t know of any server that does the sort of things you’ve mentioned, but I actually have “training days” where I take a small group of guild members in and coach/train them through the use of Teamspeak 3. Makes it so much easier than explaining a lot of stuff through typing in chat. Even if they have no mic, they can still listen in and understand. Our guild has run contests, ect. for many years and it’s fun when they’re engaged and obviously enjoying themselves. Contests for best logo/cape designs, as we often changed logos/capes during the Christmas holiday. Prizes were given out as gold, dyes, special buff items, potions, mini pets, ect. ect. We were active for 6+ years in GW1. I’ve also known and been associated with guilds and “in-game DJ’s” that would host special parties while you listened to Blade Radio, ect. I do believe you’re on the right path to keeping your guild active and enjoying themselves, and that is a key element to keeping guilds alive.

Yeah, I meant no disrespect to that guild but, I’m just giving out the information that I got from that guy. He was randomly placing Rams in the middle of no where wasting our supply in the keeps, told me he was new. I didn’t buy it for one bit.
Then he was telling us AH was fine, i came over to make sure and they were trying to ninja the north inner gate. (NSP).

Idk, i added that guy just to see when he is online. Make sure he doesn’t do that stuff again.

I am on DH and went in to WvW noon time PST and went to all the maps and only 1 had the crossed swords. Spent about 10min to get there and did not find anyone. Never seen our population that low where nothing was going on at all.

Sadly, most of our population is PvE, Our guild [RE] starts later in the evening during our prime time, DH is mostly an evening wvw server from my experience.

We were in EB and i kept running into that guy, he was a Char.

I would bring him to low health, then he would go invulnerable then run away and try to lure me into his guildies :P
